Appetizers arrived in about 30 minutes, But, our main course took over 2 hours to arrive. Either waiter or kitchen forgot to do our order.
Food was excellent! But, 3 hours at the restaurant was way to long!
Harvest bowl with lemon shrimp was amazing. Fish tacos little too spicy but beautiful presentation. Fun food choices. View amazing!!! Service great!!
We had an amazing dinner here - fantastic food and service. Couldn’t be a better spot in the harbour for views and ambience - even had a trio playing jazz for the evening. Brought our three kids and they had excellent kids meal choices for a reasonable price. Five stars
Great service and views. You can't beat the inner harbor scenes. Food was OK.
The nice meal overall was ruined by a condescending waiter. The busboy however was fantastic and courteous and the food was great. Patio was beautiful and was a treat for our out-of-town guests. I am leery of recommending this place just due to the wait staff.
Food was good but not amazing, high priced for size portion, service was very good and the view is great, would go again but maybe not for a super fancy dinner
Waited a few minutes for the perfect table on the deck. View of the inner harbour and very light breeze made it perfect. Service was cheerful and quick. Beet salad with chicken and seafood linguini hit the spot.
Food was good but service was not. We waited 30 minutes to get noticed after being seated. Asked for assistance and it was still slow and not important to the staff to make our dining experience any better. The view and food was good but won’t go back.
Great food, beautiful water view and excellent service!
On vacation and we chose this restaurant for the menu. We address a basket of their fresh artisan bread, only to find it was ordinary heated rolls. The crab hush puppies were mediocre. The fresh seasonal bowl was tasty. However, they delivered only one instead of two so two of our party shared. Service was slow. Will not go back
It’s the summer and restaurants are busy but when we were finally seated we asked for heat lamps a couple of times. Although there were blankets on most seats it seemed to take a long time to get what we had asked for. The server was pleasant but overworked. Shame they don’t have more staff to avoid some delays.
Guest in from out of town
Our waitress was wonderful, the food magnificent and ambience casually wonderful.
Waited 30 minutes Evan though we had reserved, service was very slow and not overly concerned would not go there again based on this visit
Even though we were late on our reservation , they took us right in. Great view and great food. The Bloody Mary and Moscow mule were both excellent. We will definitely visit again when in the area.
We ordered the tuna poke, chowder, local greens, fish and chips, crab cakes, and another (raw tuna) appie, with fresh mini donuts for dessert. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented, although the crab cake texture was a bit underwhelming (a bit dry).
Hughly recommend for dates, special occasions or family dinners; the ambience is pleasant ans peaceful, patio views are awesome, tables are well spaced, seeving staff were friendly, and the sound level was low enough that you dont have to raise your voice to speak at your table even though they have live music (for us it was an instrumental trio including an accordéon!).
All around a wicked spot. You get what you pay for :)
Beautiful location on the patio overlooking Victoria harbor. My husband and I had the same thing, the scallops with risotto. So delicious. Would definitely go back.
Was great in the past but hostess and waiter both were unhappy and obviously did not want to be there and 2 of the 4 dishes where marginal at best (fish tacos). Apply was good!
Over cooked halibut, tough steak. Complete rip off. Not recommended
We had a wonderful 27th Anniversary Dinner at the Steamship Grill & Bar. Beautiful evening and wonderful staff service. The food was outstanding.
Great view, food was good, service was good. We had a reservation at 8, and were seated at 8:20ish as we wanted to wait to be seated on the patio. Before our main dishes came, before 9:30, the server told us it was last call on drinks. We hadn’t received our food or dessert but weren’t able to order anymore drinks. This was kind of disappointing.
I would recommend to a friend but only for the chance to sit outside on the patio. The food to $ ratio is really poor..we waited an hour for our food and the portions were small and it wasn't very good yet it cost too much $$$. Don't bother ordering dessert, it's a waste of money, we didn't even eat it, it was so bad, just pure sugar. Service was slow but professional , staff seem jaded.
Great spot on the harbor. Patio was full so we dined inside which was fine. Great service from “Phil” who bantered with us. Our two year old granddaughter was with us and she loved the spaghetti noodles and the doughnut desert! Halibut fish and chips were very good. Hot wings appetizer was great.
The venue is beautiful and clean. Fun décor. The patio is the star attraction with views of the harbour; it makes for a fun evening with friends and is equally charming for a romantic dinner for two. The ambience more than makes up for the lack of creativity in the meal. The food is generally very good but basic. For a $30 meal, I expect a little flare to the meal. Portions are just right leaving enough room for dessert. The crème Brule was excellent. I recommend eating here. Stick with appys and drinks; you will not be disappointed.
Steamship has one of the greatest patios in Victoria and we love to bring guests here. The food is always good and service is friendly. However, we recently chose to eat inside to celebrate a special occasion. While our waitress was very good and the food was delicious, we found the door hosts unfriendly (perhaps inexperienced) and the ambience unsophisticated. Tables near the fireplace face the catering hallway, replete with dishes and service paraphernalia. This might be remedied with a half-wall. The kitchen staff is visible, but more importantly, clearly audible. While all this may be adequate for passing tourist trade, the level of ambience is low and does not match the beauty of the building. We will certainly return to enjoy the patio, but will not dine inside again.
We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The server was very welcoming and friendly. Once our orders were taken the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Each of our party of 5 enjoyed their meal. The prices are in line with other restaurants located in downtown Victoria. This restaurant has a very nice outdoor patio overlooking the inner harbour. We were not able to sit there without waiting at least half an hour for a table to become available.
The quality of the food was really bad. Oysters cost $19 for 6 and they were the smallest I ha e ever seen. We ordered the seafood tower for two $79 and this was really a waste of money.
The service was poor as well. The server did not Granbury table during our meal so I stacked four small plates and the bowl for chowder at the end of the table. However the server only picked up the bowl. Odd, nothing else was cleared. It was obvious management is nonexistent.
Great harbor view outside, good simple food
Great location, great food
Lovely view of the inner harbour,it was a bit breezy so the blankets were a perfect fix! The drinks and food were all enjoyed by the 4 of us. I personally had the Miso Halibut and it was awesome! The service was not as attentive as past visits though. All in all still a lovely evening out in beautiful Victoria
Great views and service just pricey for quality of food and portions. But typical fir Victoria.
Excellent food and service in inner harbor. Great outdoor views.
Two soups arrived cold, not cool, cold.
Presented my well earned open Table certificate at bill payment time.
Waitress had not seen one which isn’t unusual. What was unacceptable is how rudely she rejected it and said “anyone can present paper”.
When I replied to kindly check it out, she came back and said “ my manager has never seen one in three years.”
And delivered in a very rude way.
I paid up.
As I left, she said “ oh we heard from the owner the open table money is acceptable. Want me to reverse your credit card?”
I like the restaurant. It has a great view of the inner harbour and the food is quite good. Our visit there June 17 was marred by a waitress who was rude and incompetent. Rude where, when arriving she had no interest in taking our food order until she had taken our drink orders. My wife hesitated momentarily in ordering the food order and she questioned why we weren't ready. My order was cut short when she informed me that part of the lunch menu was unavailable (would have been nice to have been informed). She screwed up two of the five food orders. I left her a tip, but markedly less than I usually do. This person has no business in the hospitality industry. She lacks the temperament to deal with people and a memory to remember simple food orders. Curly, dark hair. Beware.
View was amazing
Staff was great
Great food choices but the execution and quality of the food was disappointing
Got very very sick after having oysters (I understand luck of the draw with raw shellfish, not their fault)
But still would not go back again
It takes an hour for our food to come.
Tacos had very little fish and cold. Salads ok. Service very slow.
A bit expensive for basic dishes, but we still enjoyed our meal.
