Steamworks gets its name from the famous Gastown steam line that runs through our premises. Our onsite brewery uses steam to fire its kettles. The instant heat of steam allows for greater brewing finesse, and most importantly great tasting beer. Whether you're in the mood for a thirst quenching Lions Gate® lager, or a full bodied HeriocaTM Oatmeal Stout, we've got a beer to please your palate.
Steamworks is very much a boutique event facilitity. Gaze upon spectacular views of the harbour and north shore while you enjoy our friendly, professional service. With three private rooms, Steamworks can host private parties from 30 to 700 people. From burgers to bubbly, we do it all!!View Private Dining Details
The lamb burger was amazing and my partner had the Stilton steak salad. The salad was really shy on the Stilton but the steak quality was amazing.
Excellent atmosphere, great vibe. Meals were very well prepared. Had the Salmon burger. Highly recommend.
It was just a tad loud over lunchtime.. Easier to talk after it cleared out a bit. Comfortable and pleasant. Good food. Location is right beside Waterfront station with an unexpected view. I will definitely return.
Server was very pleasant but the food was extremely slow, we had hungry kids with us and it was pretty difficult for us. The meals were also quite greasy and the oil for the fries tasted a bit stale.
The waiter never returned to ask us how our food was and never refilled our small glasses of water. One guest didn’t like their food
Recently, I had two friends in town, one from England, the other from Australia, and after travelling around the province for over a week, I thought they'd enjoy a casual evening with good food and a view of the mountains (just as I had requested).
They were a little late in arriving for a 6:45 reservation but the server was extremely polite and unobtrusive as I sipped on my flight of beers before they arrived.
Once they arrived, the server again was mindful of giving us time and space as the three of us had a lot of catching up to do. We eventually ordered drinks and dinner and were attended to as necessary but again, the server gave of time to just enjoy the food, drinks and each others' company.
Overall, the evening was very pleasant, the food was fantastic and my friends left having had a very enjoyable evening all around as did I.
This is the second time I've brought friends from out of town to Steamworks and each time, it's been a really nice experience.
Keep up the good work!
Really nice place and good food. Stouts are great!
Nice place to have lunch. The pulled pork was very good. We enjoyed our meal. Service was good.
Mostly great, but quite often they'll cram a party of 4 on one square table even though there still seems to be booths / more space elsewhere, and it's really hard to eat comfortably, especially with everyone having 2 drinks (incl. water) and long plates. If there's an important reason they do this then that's fine, but I thought it was worth mentioning. The servers are hit or miss as well, but generally fine.
Came here for lunch with the family and it was fine, good food with of course great beer. I suspect it would be busier later in the day.
I recommend because of location, food is not so good, Chicken tender has no taste and burn, my friend oredered wings and she said they were dry and not much taste.
Service is not bad, and had a good view.
Location is great, very close to transit.
Service/beer good, food not so much. Better options especially where you’re located.
Nice, cozy environment. Delicious food, very good, friendly, helpful staff.
Took a group of my coworkers for a post work get together. Great Experience and very attentive staff members.
Steamworks is our go to business lunch and Christmas party place for over 12 years now. They have great beer, good comfort food, good selection and professional staff.
Good food and service during a particularly busy period.
everything was great except the hostess and the server didn't seem interested in attending customers
The ribs were so dry they were almost inedible and the pizzas were overcooked and lacked pizzaz.
We thought the food was not worth the money. The boulabaise was the worst we have ever had. No broth. Most of the shells were empty Boulabaise is a soup....
Salmon was a bit too spicy and not advised by waiter.
Online reservation worked well. Sat down with our out of town party and enjoyed a few beers before dinner. As it happened two more people we all knew joined us. everybody said their food was fabulous. I had the Lobster Ravioli and it was very fresh and tasty. Beer selection is wide ranging and our server was always around to see to our needs. We will be back soon, going to try brunch next !
We booked on line through open table. I was all excited to be able to do it on line. When we got to steam works we were told that we did not have a reservation. I showed it to them on my phone as I had confirmation that I had a reservation and then a reminder also came via email reminding me that we had the reservation. They said that they had trouble with the online reservation system but that they did have a table that we could sit at. We no sooner sat down when an email from open table came through and said that we had been checked into the restaurant. Not sure what was going on between the restaurant and open table. We were just happy they had a table for us and our friends.
Great spot! Good food and drinks! Lots of seating and great staff!!
This was my second time. First time the hostesses were snobbish and not really there to greet guests but. This time maybe because it was not a crazy time, they were accomodationg and listening to our requests. Server was great as well. i ordered a tap beer and it wasnt tasting what I expected. When I asked if she could exchange my drink to something else, she brought me testers and helped to choose good choice. Food was hot and quick. It was very casual and pleasant visit.
We were originally seated in the lower level next to the kitchen. We found it too dark, too noisy and too much smell of fryer fat. The staff was wonderful in reseating us upstairs in a much better and brighter location. Our waiter, Elinet, was very attentive and the food was yummy. 2 burgers and 2 different pizzas hit the spot. We will return again.
I found the tuna poke appetizer outstanding & the cucumber and strawberry&rhubarb ales delicious!
Good food, good beer, good atmosphere - our group of twelve business colleagues from around the world were thankful of the recommendation.
Nice place with great location, great beer with an above average selection of the usual pub food.
We had a very noisy section and literally could not hear each other. Not for a date night! But food was good and wait staff attentive.
Am a big fan of their butter chicken and their beers. It's the best around in town.
I took my mum here on a friend's recommendation. The service was mediocre. They did take an order and checked at our table if things were ok a couple of times but it took quite some time to get the bill and the server didn't come back take the bill soon. We walked up to the ladies at the front if we could give them the bill and they said the server will pick up the bill from our table so we had to trot back to our hotel, stand there for a couple of minutes and in the end walk up to the server and say here is the bill thanks. The food was also mediocre. I had seafood chowder and Caesar salad. It was ordinary. Mum's steak was covered in soot after ordering medium well. She had to carve off the outer layer of the steak to eat the steak as she felt too embarrassed to send it back. We will return here never.
Too noisy and portions were mediocre.
One dish said it came with seasonal vegetables which turned out to be a spear of zucchini and two pieces of pepper. Lots of mashed potatoes.
The fish and ships had few chips and dead looking coleslaw. Not very appetizing.
Beer was disappointing for a craft brewery but overall the experience was decent.
Awful. Truly awful. 20 minute wait for drinks. The breading on the crispy chicken burger had half fallen off, causing the chicken to be rock hard. Rest of the food was poor too, not good quality. Clearly the chefs at Steamworks do not care about the quality of their work. Steamworks needs a management overhaul, I used to love this brewery 5 years ago. Dont waste your money now.
The food is very good . Was also served quickly. Good menu. The beers are very good.
The resevation worked but we got wrong because I wanted (high seat) we got a normal and the right by the kitchen. The waitress was not exactly friendly on this evening. I think I will celebrate my birthday next time where different
Steamworks is an old favourite. Food and beer are good, and the location is great for us (coming from the North Shore by seabus and walking around downtown after). Lots and lots of seating means we can pretty much always get in.
Great location, good food and fantastic waiter who was attentive and very helpful! They offer a wide variety of food to we were able to make sure everyone in the family was happy. I would visit again.
For some reason the server didn't care if my drink was empty or cared to even ask if I wanted another one??????
Great food and service as always. Your hot wings are awesome!!
The food was pretty good. My friend and I had burgers and the meat was tasty, bread was good. My husband had a pulled pork sandwich, which he said was good and our other friend had a soup and salad bowl that he enjoyed. The fries were okay (but not great). Our waitress was fantastic! The only things I didn't like (and it was my fault for not considering this when choosing a restaurant) was the noise level - it was very hard to have a conversation because of the music and conversations of others. Also, the tables are very small - you can't keep 4 glasses of water, 4 beers and 4 dinners on the table. p.s. The beer was really good!
