We had the table d'hôte luncheon menu which was excellent. Both of us chose the Caesar salad which was beautifully presented with lardons and shaved Parmesan cheese. For the main course we had ordered the boeuf Bourguignon. The meat was tender and served medium with a sauce that resembled an "au jus" more then the traditional heavy gravy. It was served with garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables. We declined the potatoes and very much enjoyed the medley of colourful, al dente vegetables. Dessert was a triangle of flourless chocolate cake bordered by chocolate sauce and strawberries. It was a beautiful sunny fall day and our window table had a view of the sparkling Gatineau River.

My wife and I make Sterling's a once a year event so that we keep it special. We, unfortunately could not dine on the patio due to weather but our visit was amazing none the less. The meal was delicious as was the wine selection we left to the discretion of out server; he brought us a nice thick red malbec from Argentina. When our next visit to this fine establishment will be is unknown be we're looking forward to it already. Thank you to the staff.
I'm a regular customer and usually quite pleased with this restaurant but the service was average, the main room was chilly and there was a large and loud group in their corporate room which made it really difficult to talk to my guests.
The food was on par though, as always.
Our waiter Mark really made the experience special.
This was the second time we have been to Sterling. The first time was a complete five star rating experienced, this time was almost just as good if only the steaks were cooked properly. Superb restaurant, we will definitely be back.

Beautifully appointed heritage home converted to a comfortable yet finer dining establishment. Menu is "old school" classic steak house cuisine, done very well. Staff are very professional and friendly. A very welcoming and lovely dining experience.

There weren’t a lot of people dinning at the same time as us but the music was incredibly loud and they kept giving tours of the dinning room to groups of people who would stand right next to me while I was eating and talked loudly. This ruined the ambiance for me and it’s not what I expect of a restaurant that cost us 100$ per person. Service could have been a lot more professional as well. Very disappointed and I don’t think I will be dinning here anymore.

Food was good but a bit on the pricey side. Lobster tail was small for the price.

Shrimps was a little over cooked. Scallops were just perfect tho.

Overall, pricey but meat are worth the price
This place has a very good reputation, and the terrace is very nice indeed. The food is not bad either although somewhat pricy. The real problem was the service. At least an hour after we had given our order and eaten our first courses, the server indicated that it would be another 20 or 30 minutes for our main courses. When they arrived two backed potatoes were stone cold and had to be replaced. The server apologized for everything and offered after dinner drinks on the house. They just brought a round of Spanish (or Irish?) coffees, which would not have been anyone's first choice. By that time we were, in any case, ready to leave as dinner had taken much longer than planned.
With respect to the food, the soup included in the table d'haut was excellent, the seafood dish as an appetizer was quite good. The steaks, ordered by three of us, were good, but the rock lobster ordered by one person was not very good, overcooked.
In summary, a great location, a very good wine list, fairly decent food, but very bad service.

Me and my wife had our date night at Sterling. I booked a reservation, everything went great, from the manager who gave us The best table, the live music and to our delightful server.
Waitress was very polite, well mannered, good attitude and service. Food as amazing, compliments to the chef!
We were sitting outside, not too noisy, nice terrasse, only thing would be that the chairs are not that confortable outside. But overall , was our first experience and won t be the last!

The service wasn't as outstanding as usually. The server wasn't too knowledgeable about the way some of the items were cooked, whether cooked on bbq or pan or oven.
Also, the steak had a bit of a weir taste on the edges of the meat.
Our expectations are always exceeded at Sterling. The server gave kind and attentive service - in particular to my mother - which was greatly appreciated. As for the meal itself - excellent presentations and flavors will keep Sterling at the top of the list for special occasions.
Excellent food and service. The steaks were prepared to perfection and the wine was a perfect complement.
Excellent service; enjoyed the 4 course special; carrot ginger soup was delicious and the rack of lamb was perfect. Enjoyed the ambience on 2nd floor and background music by pianist. It’s a nice place for special occasion as it’s a bit on the pricier side.
It was our anniversary and they made it really special with good service food and wine!
I was very disappointed in my experience at Sterling.
The reservation was made for Saturday July 20th.
When arriving at the restaurant, we were seated upstairs.
The weather outside was 47 + and the place was starting to really heat up.
When we asked the waiter about the A/C, we were told that it was an old building and the A/C could not provide enough coldness for the whole restaurant.
We ate our main meal very fast, seeing the heat was unbearable. We would of loved to stay for coffee and dessert, but the restaurant was an oven.
When we left the restaurant, we ended up looking up at building and seen that the A/C was not even turned on !!!!! How cheap is the owner of this restaurant to not have turned on the A/C or to make sure it was working for the weather conditions.
We spent a lot of money, but it's unfortunate that we could not enjoy our dining experience.

Excellent service and attention to detail This restaurant never disappoints. The scallops and escargot are exceptional. The tender steaks are unbeatable. You can even purchase some to grill at home.

We loved this place. It was a little too expensive so we probably wouldn't go again but certainly worth the experience. The only reason I gave less on the ambiance was they originally seated us at a table that vibrated with the air conditioning. However they happily moved us when we stated we were uncomfortable. Food and wait staff were all perfect .
The service was excellent. The best we have had in years. The food was unbelievable. They showed our steak cuts in a wicker basket as it was on it's way to the grill. The steak was the best I have had at a restaurant period! We were in a quiet spot, beautiful U shape table to ourselves. A single rose on every single table. Everyone was polite, helpful and ensured we good. Wine was excellent. Constant refilling of water was nice because that rarely happens. The dessert ... I actually have no words. It was out of this world. One of the best experiences we have had in terms of a restaurant in the almost 2 years living in Ontario. Randomly found this place on the Gatineau side via Google and so glad we did. We absolutely will go back.
I have eaten there before and have never had a "bad" experience. Food is excellent, noise lever acceptable and the service was impeccable.

The filet mignon that was present tu us before cooking was a beautifull round piece of meat.
The piece of meat on my plate was not the same piece that we seen before cooking.
The original piece before cookink was a round piece of meat like any filet mignon, but the piece I receive on my plate was not a round piece of meat and It war not tender ar all. Much too expensive for a steak at 49$
