Steveston Seafood House
"Superb seafood as fresh as any that could be caught on the docks...served up with finesse" Pacific Northwest Magazine.
Voted best seafood restaurant in Richmond 15 years in a row.
Excellent customer service and food was really good!
Quality of seafood was good but we were thrown off by the service a little. Server didn’t know much about the oysters when asked (which you would expect from a Seafood House) and when he dropped a piece of food from our dish, did not offer to replenish.
The chickpea salsa was a bit tasteless but overall, I would return as the food quality was pretty good.
We went there for brunch. The brunch was great, as it has a bit of everything to satisfy everyone's taste bud. Food taste great, and the service was amazing. The waitress we had are quite attentive and ensure that our needs are met. The only thing I didn't quite like was the Oyster Rockefeller, I had small bit of oyster shell in the food where it almost chip my teeth when I was trying to chow down the food. But the taste was good (just minus the oyster shell).
Friendly, excellent food, service, wines. Good background music - NO loud rock nor hip hop. Consistently very good! They have an excellent brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays -- I believe 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. They are open for dinner 7 nights per week.
Interior ambience does not reflect the quality of the food and service. On the evening of our meal it was noisy, no doubt because it was a full house, but it made conversation difficult at our table for six.
The entrance is somewhat cramped with little seating for waiting patrons.
However we had a nice evening and the food was first class as was the service.
I ordered the special which was prime rib. Since it was a special you’d think everything would be fresh and hot. When my food came, the mashed potatoes were cold, the vegetables were over cooked and dried out. The prime rib had a sauce that didn’t taste right. It was hard to cut the meat as they gave a very dull knife. My husband ordered the Alaskan king crab. He had dried out rice, and over cooked vegetables. The crab didn’t have much flavour so they give melted butter to drowned it in. My husband said it didn’t help. I was very disappointed in this restaurant especially since it’s very pricy. So not worth it !!!
It was nice to get back to the SSH - I had not been since 2013... the star of the experience was the seafood appetizer platter... and the good server service! And thanks to Shane and the rest of the crew for creating a full experience.
It was my first time trying oysters (delicious-yum) and the experience and quality of the food was excellent. Our server, Kent, was very knowledgeable, professional, friendly and humorous. He really added to the experience. Would definitely go back and also recommend to friends.
Great experience at this quaint seafood restaurant. Our party of 10 thoroughly enjoyed the appetizers, wine and delicious seafood dinners. Server (Kent) was very attentive and everything was perfect!
Incredible seafood but not the beef........ Oysters were superb....
Table service was outstanding.........
We are always treated very well by the staff. Our server, Stewart, had excellent recommendations for food and wine.
Good atmosphere, delicious food. Waiter was friendly with a good sense of humour. Recommend it
Surprisingly large portions. Good selection of oceanwise seafood. Service was great. Dinner for 2 with no alcoholic drinks and 2 appetizers was $130 - we honestly didn't have room dessert though. Calamari is large rings which isn't for everyone but they were cooked beautifully. Would definitely go again.
My husband and I decided to go for NYE dinner. This was our second experience at Steveston Seafood House. We didn’t realize there was only a fixe prix menu but we saw our favourite on the menu (seafood linguine) and decided to stay. We had the prawn and scallop ceviche which was under seasoned and not very flavourful. The beef carpaccio appetizer was half frozen. The balsamic glaze and aioli went well with the pieces that were properly thawed. The biggest disappointment of the evening was the seafood linguine. When we first had it, the flavours were great , with a healthy amount of garlic butter. The seafood linguine on nye was awful. The sauce was starchy water. There was no seasoning, and the pasta was warm. The prime rib dinner was another disappointment, it was a very tough cut with a salty red wine sauce. For dessert we got the panna cotta and thoroughly enjoyed the blueberry compote. The service was great. The ambiance was energetic in the dining room.
the only thing that bothered me was the temperature of the room...it was cold..and I was dressed warm.
We had a lovely New Years Eve dinner. We were on the early dinner so ordered off the menu. I had the scallops with stuffed Portobello mushroom. Delicious 😋! We both had coconut prawns as an appetizer and they were very good too. Friendly staff. We don’t come often but always enjoy it.
Nice place. Good food and service. Enjoy the evening and definitely would go back again.
The whole experience at Steveston Seafood House was fantastic. We went for my dad's birthday and everyone had a great time. The food was great. Everyone ordered something different, and were overall really happy with the selection. The staff was also really accommodating with food restrictions.
For the fourth year in a row, we have chosen to have Christmas dinner at Steveston Seafood House. The menu is always full of interesting choices, the wine list is good and I am always amazed at how, even thought the place is full, you never feel the atmosphere is too loud or that your dining experience is being rushed to bring in more people.
The Xmas prepared menu was excellent. I enjoyed the convenience of it, & enjoyed receiving a complimentary glass of champagne! I felt the renovations greatly improved the ambiance of this restaurant as the food has always been exemplary. Thank you for a lovely Xmas day meal.
While I expected the restaurant to be very busy on Christmas Eve, I was very disappointed in the quality of our meals. We were a party of 7 adults and 2 children. Several had the halibut- which was dreadful- dry and over cooked, one had filet mignon which was cold and undercooked. For value- the bill was over $500 and I don’t feel we received value for our money. In the past I would have said something during the meal, in fact I would have sent the meal back, however being Christmas Eve I did not want to spoil the evening with a negative or difficult situation for my family. I have dined here many times, with great success, however not in this occasion.
Love the oysters. Very fresh
Red chilli is not spicy enough
Loved everything from the $1 oysters, mussels, chowder, seafood bowl... perfect end with a panna cotta.
Excellent night out! Great service while it was really busy. Food was delicious - would recommend for sure. Thumbs up!!
The prime rib as special didn't meet the quality as expected as meat was tough and no tender texture of the usual prime ribs. The halibut was tasteless yet the price was not cheap. Quite disappointed as compared to our last time experience!
Always enjoy going and have a great meal, its a yearly thing for us know. Always worth the value and time.
good food, great service!
would highly recommend,
I was disappointed as was our wedding anniversary and I had reserved this a week before so they knew. Two other people we know were given special menus with there names and date of anniversary. We drove from Cloverdale so a bit far. I did enjoy my Seafood salad but my husband did not like the sauce that was on his fish. The last time we came to this place was on Father's Day which was nice and enjoyed by all.
Wouldn't come back.
Food and service were just okay
This place is amazing! Food and service have always been impeccable and I have been going here for special occasions for years... the only thing I would recommend is to update the bathrooms. But this restaurant is definitely worth going to!!!
Everything was absolutely delicious! Can’t wait to go back.
We went with a groupon and were not disappointed. We were seated quickly, the waiter was very pleasant and brought us each of our servings quickly. When I had a problem, ( I had ordered chowder and then realized it was made with milk he very kindly changed it for me to salad.) I loved the appetizer: mussels, one of the best I have tasted. I ordered salmon and my husband order the shnitzel. I preferred his dish to mine so next time we come I will be sure to order that.
There was definitely enough food and we were very pleased.
This restaurant has been in Steveston for many years so on special occasions we like to go there.
Restaurant staff were excellent and the food was pretty good, delivered hot and promptly despite a large party in the restaurant. Minor points were dry schnitzel (and/or skinny sauce), and a big plus for generous fish in the red curry stew, which sadly lacked flavour—a little bland. Overall meal was good value and worth trying.
Birthday brunch. Awesome food and service.
We have been going to this Restaurant for over 35 years, this is our go to place for special occasions or just a good old fashion date night. It was my Husbands birthday and they didn't disappoint everything was wonderful as usual, great food, great staff, just a lovely evening.
Another fantastic meal at Steveston Seafood House. We sat at our favourite table. The booth. Always a great experience 😍
Our waitress was Professional, knowledgeable and fast services than a month ago. The food quality are better, they can make the way we asked for. We love their fresh miyake/ chef creek oysters (we had 2 dozens), mussels, filet mignon, rack of lamb and scallops skewers. We also had a bottle of red wine and coconut prawns as well. 2 of us paid $2xx + 20% tips for dinner. They didn't rush us to leave, even we are the last table (but it was 9 pm, they closed at 10pm on Wednesday). Worth for the price.
Food has always been good this time and on previous visits
As usual, my most recent dining experience at the Steveston Seafood House was wonderful. We enjoyed a delicious meal and the service provided by Kent, was top notch. Thank you!
