So far the best sushi and sashimi I’ve had in Calgary by a big margin. Lunchtime atmosphere was a little flat which was expected in this location but that however did not detract from the warm and friendly service and exceptionally good food served.
Absolutely recommend this place and am looking forward to returning.
This restaurant is amazing! The food is outstanding, the service is exceptional, and they made my birthday truly special! I have been dining here for over 13 years and each time I am blown away! If you have never dined with them you need to!
The service and attention to detail are outstanding - and the food is amazing! We love it here - highly recommend! Never disappoints :)
Best service, best quality food/ drinks and best atmosphere. Favourite sushi restaurant In Calgary hands down! Staff are always so welcoming, knowledgeable on the menu and the chefs are truly top tier! I will never stop coming here :)
It was my birthday and Sukiyaki house made it very special. The food was amazing, sushi was fresh - best in calgary. The sukiyaki was very flavourful. Service was top-notch, the servers explained each of the nigiri sushi and how to cook the sukiyaki. will be back!
First time I went here was absolutely amazing and I was so impressed I came back today. However I’m not sure why I feel the quality wasn’t so much there this time. The wagyu tataki ponzu was so amazing the first time we were literally licking the sauce off the plate. This time it was just so. The tempura was a bit soggy rather then crunchy, the sashimi was a bit different. I tend to eat shimagi a lot in Vancouver however at $6.5 a piece I expected it to be more fresh but it tasted super fishy for 12 pcs. The scallop and scallop special was a star of the sashimi plate which elevated the experience at the last moment. The chicken skewer was ok and the mussels was great on broth the disappointment with mussels were they were quite small. We also ordered sukiyaki with two orders of angus and that was surprisingly ok. Their mochi and red bean dessert was good at the end. After spending quite a bit of money I expected the experience to be better than the first and I was sorely disappointed. I don’t think I’ll visit again but first time with no expectations works the best here.
The counter seating is not a fun experience. Could barely see the gentlemen making anything.
Such a great place! Menu is full of options, including fresh fish specials the chef whipped up! The service is exceptional, the food is amazing!
The food was amazing. The plum wine and saki were some of the best quality that I have ever tried. Our server was also very attentive and hilarious while still remaining professional. We will definitely be coming back!
Amazing service! Unreal sushi! Forever obsessed and will 100 percent go back!
Awesome palatal selections
It has the best sushi for sure in Calgary. I’ve been to most of the other places and Sukiyaki far exceeds any of them.
Amazing as always, love seeing bluefin and uni on the menu, happy to be back eating here post-Covid.
Good food. Helpful really pleasant staff. Nice modern minimalist decor.
Enjoyed our dining expereince.
Amazing food and amazing service. Justin made our experience quite enjoyable.
Delicious food , super kind and friendly people , amazing experience as always . Thank you!
Very good food and polite and attentive service.
The sushi was very fresh and the Gyoza were some of the beat that we have ever had.
Great decor. Sushi is fresh. Overall a good experience.
Best sushi in Calgary. Love the sukiyaki (you have to reserve in advance). Great selection of sake. The servers are excellent and friendly. The desserts are great way to end the meal. Love that they come with an assortment of fruits. Would highly recommend a visit.
Always incredible service. Knowledgable, professional and warm.
Top notch ingredients and presentation.
Honestly it’s such a special place.
Very bad experience
Will not be back again
Our server was the manager and offered an amazing experience for my family an i. Food and drinks were delicious and the sashimi was so FRESH
The Food, server and the environment, all excellent.
Very attentive service and very good food. Will return again if ever in Calgary again.
The food was very good and great location close to our hotel. Really enjoyed the Wagyu beef tar tar, jackfish and trio dessert!
Best Japanese cuisine my boyfriend and I have ever had. Seriously would recommend to anyone who is a big sushi fan. We were originally going to try hot pot, but didn’t realize you had to call a head and let them know you wanted it, not a big deal since we were in heaven with the sushi/ sashimi options.
Always great every single time without exception! Superb food, superb service, recommend for any occasion! 😋
To Mr. Kwong, Restaurant Manager at Sukiyaki House
I had tonight a rather unusual evening at the restaurant you managed. We booked for a party of 10 at 5h15pm. When seated, the assistant manager came to us to warn us that we have to vacate by 7h45pm because another party was booked right after. I pointed out to him that that based on the email that I received from OpenTable, SH allows us (and any party of 7+) to stay for a maximum of 3hrs (see photo in attachment). Your assistant then told us that he knows the rules and insisted that we must depart prematurely. When put in front the facts (I showed him the email, written black on white) he stated that he could have refused us since we were late, past the 15 min “grace period” – I love that expression, it has a tint of arrogance. The hic is that we weren’t late. We were on time, within the 15 min “grace period”, waiting in the tiny lobbing giving access to the dining room at 5h25pm. A quick look at my phone confirmed that we were checked in through OpenTable at 5h30pm (see photo attached – Seated Confirmation).
I am sure you strive to provide the best customer service and staff training. However, your assistant failed miserably in his tasks. In no way, I am a food expert, but I know the restaurant scene well enough to understand that your assistant talked through his hat and sadly, he demonstrated unprofessional behaviors.
I hope these words reach you well.
Everything was perfect. Just the noise was terrible
I love love this place! I’ve been looking for a good sushi place and this is it. Food is so fresh and delicious
Had a great business lunch.
Bento Box, sashimi & rolls were on point as usual.
My fiance and I tried this restaurant for the first time after hearing so many great reviews about it. Our servers were sweet, helpful, and gave excellent recommendations. All the food was fresh, delicious, and flavourful. You can tell the chef takes pride in their cooking. Would highly recommend!
Amazing staff, Very knowledgeable! Would defenitely recommend
Sushi and Shabu Shabu were excellent, service was good with fun and welcoming attitude. Drinks could have been served a bit quicker, but not really a problem. Overall very good and will be back. Note that they have parking beside the restaurant - good to know if things are busy downtown.
Justin very good service, hamachi neck a bit salty
Wonderful dining experience from start to finish. Great food, amazing fresh choices and fantastic service.
The food was excellent, however a little overpriced (4 sushi options chosen, 6 pieces per option, 2 glasses of juice + tip was >$70). But everything is overpriced right now. Service was good, other than having to ask for soy sauce, but our server was busy. Very friendly and efficient though. I found the tables were pretty close together, for being inside I was expecting to be 6 ft apart but we definitely weren't.
Went there for my daughter’s birthday, was a busy night, and put us right beside a huge group, very noise. The food was just ok, and server was ok, forgot our drinks and part of our order. Have to wait very long time for it. No a good experience as all. The sashimi was small for the price they charge.
Amazing service by Judith! We had a wonderful evening from start to finish. Don’t skip dessert.
Judith was the ultimate host. Skills as Sake “sommelier “ and organizing an incredible chef menu for us. Loved the bluefin tuna !
