Great menu and ambiance
We have been at Summer House multiple times and always been happy. We are planning a graduation dinner for my daughter at their private room this weekend. If the food at the dinning area was good we will not expect anything less.
Four of us went for dinner. There were smashed chips under our table (we asked them to clean them up & they did). We shared the roasted cauliflower which was very good but an extremely small portion for about $10. For our entrees, two had the beef tacos, one had chicken tacos & one had the French dip (they forgot the horseradish sauce but it was still good). Everyone enjoyed their meal & they have a nice beer/cocktail selection. Service was slow. For dessert we each picked out a cookie & a coffee at the lobby bakery (of course the coffee was cold but we took it to go & realize it after we started to walk away from the restaurant).
The ambiance is nice, but it is really overpriced for the quality of food.
Our waiter was nice, but did not really seem focused. One example, A friend at our table had an empty drink and the waiter came by three times and never asked him if he wanted another drink.
The food was okay, but nothing review worthy. Definitely smaller portions than a normal brunch place and as mentioned before, too expensive. $13-16 for a brunch cocktail is unnecessary, especially when it's as simple as a mimosa. Bloody Mary's are not worth it and do not recommend. They also serve a "nice salad" with brunch and they up charge you for hash browns or standard brunch dishes. The "nice salad" as literally stated on the menu, is just the opposite. It's only lettuce and cabbage..
We will probably not be returning unfortunately.
Love love love Summer House. This is my go to for out of town guests.
My daughter wanted to celebrate her birthday here because of some good reviews.
We were all disappointed... everyone’s eggs were salty. The sausages were hard from being over cooked. The cinnamon roll was dry. My son ordered spaghetti and meatballs from the kids menu and he got mostaccioli instead. We asked for water refills from other servers since ours wasn’t attentive.
On a brighter note: the ambiance is nice. The cocktail my daughter ordered was good and the cookies from the bakery. Definitely been to much better breakfast places for the same price with better service.
We had a good time. Our only challenge was that we were the first group in the restaurant and the hostess wanted to put us in a corner booth. We did not want to be that "cozy", there were 6 of us. When we requested another table, this seemed to irk the hostess, but we were accommodated by sitting at a nice "high top" table. All went well once we got to the table.
All good. The staff was nice, the food came out in the right timing, and the cocktails are perfect. The nut in the old fashioned was genius.
I got sick from the food, it was overpriced, not worth it. I have eaten here before, the value was always a huge question mark for me, but getting sick on top of that made it a place I will not return to.
Average food. Would not return to this crowded Denny’s-like atmosphere.
The service was exceptionally slow. We saw the server standing around and talking to other coworkers. We tried to get her attention several times and couldn’t.
Was expecting a great experience but one of the waiters was pretty rude to us off the bat, which made us feel unwelcome
Celebrating (belated) 1st Mother’s Day
Summer House sat us even though we had shown up much earlier than our reservation. The service and food were excellent, including following an instruction for a birthday that I had included in my open table reservation.
$14.95 for guacamole and chips??? $20.95 for a piece of cauliflower??
A wonderful Mother’s Day celebration.
Enjoyable. Very noisy.
We love everything about this place! Was so nice to have the Mother’s Day brownie treat. Service, food, and ambiance are always top-notch. Only suggestion is to improve the flow with the tables. Once you sit down, you are trapped and can’t get out of the middle tables!
Always a great place to eat with wonderful service and a great atmosphere
It was our first time here and it started off a little unpleasant. We were seated near the bar and at first it was fine, but we preferred to go on the other side. Our waiter took a long time to come around to us and I was close to just trying for another restaurant. But we were moved to the other side and our new waiter was literally the best! I wish we could have gotten his name, but he was very attentive and bubbly. He definitely made our experience much better!
God was great but service was rough. We also waited over half an hour beyond our reservation time.
A very nice time.
Recommend smoked salmon, chicken & waffles
Brunch was great but two separate individuals called ahead to have a dessert delivered and the bill taken care of but neither happened. Disappointed with that but the overall experience was great.
Celebrating Mother’s Day. Great menu with lots of options. Cinnamon roll was a little doughy
Love summer house. Actually was in the night before for dinner as well. Delicious as always!
Great food, wine & service. Love the team @ SH.
Decent. Food was good!
the food was amazing, loved the taco platter and butternut squash soup. The decor was beautiful and with the patio doors open it felt like a real summer house by the beach. Our server couldn’t have been nicer and was very attentive. I loved it!
Loved the atmosphere and the service was amazing! Had such an incredible Birthday brunch !
We made a reservation a month ahead with a remark it's a special occasion and we would like a corner table. We got a table next to the door instead, and waited 15min before our drink order was taken. Foodwise, excellent.
Hard to find a better all around dining experience in Chicago.
The order of medium well hamburger was served almost raw. The dish was sent back twice. The excuse was a new cook in the kitchen. Finally burger was cook through, but a hour later after I left the restaurant, was very sick with stomach cramps. I attribute it to the undercooked then cooked again and again hamburger . Too bad because it’s a nice place. I’ll never order hamburger there again.
Celebrating our anniversary
Dinner menu is great but brunch is a bit underwhelming. Nice atmosphere but the brunch menu is not fulfilling.
Went to Summer House for Brunch with friends. Food is good, but what really sets place apart is service. Hostess was completely accommodating with change in reservation (two children were added). Our waitress was outstanding (really wish I could remember her name). She handled our somewhat demanding and unruly group with complete patience and good service.
Great space. Great food.
Breakfast was good,.
However Butternut Squash soup was served cold
