Took out of town friends here for a nice dinner over the weekend and it was a hit. All dishes were excellent and the wine list is good too. Definitely on the pricier side at $16 for a 5 oz glass of wine (nothing super fancy), my only complaint. Was my second time here and the service has been incredible both times. Love the ambience and decor - would be a perfect date spot as well! Definitely recommend this place!
We went to Tableau Bar Bistro for my wife's birthday. We went on a Saturday afternoon to the happy hour from 2:30pm and really enjoyed about 2 hours. The food was good, happy hour prices were reasonable and some good deals mixed in, especially the drinks and a few dishes. They had a nice assortment of choices on the happy hour menu, actually more than most places. The food was of excellent quality and the staff were friendly and efficient.
our server alexis was amazing. he really made our evening. he was so friendly and accommodating and super interesting to chat with. he guided us through some recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed before we even knew we needed it, and without being intrusive. the food was great, ambience & wine options all lovely, but alexis really made the evening
We were visiting Vancouver for a couple of days We wanted z place to walk to in Coal Harbor and liked the description of reviews We were not disappointed; I the escargot, pork chop and trout were excellent and the wine the sommelier selected for us was outstanding Go — you’ll be happy you did
My friend is from Paris and for her 30th birthday, I wanted to take her for french food as that is what she misses most about living here. She has her few usual French haunts, but I wanted to make this night different and special. I researched all of the nicer French restaurants in the city and decided to take a chance on Tableau. I had never heard of it before, but it had wonderful reviews. Well, they were dead on! Our evening was flawless. From the ease of making reservations only the night before (for a Saturday night!), to the warm welcome we recieved by all of the French people that work there (authenticity), to our personable, attentive and extremely competent server Romain, to the phenomenal food (we ordered an assortment of dishes and shared everything), the birthday candle and complimentary Apéritifs, to the extremely reasonable price for such a lovely and memorable evening (we sat and dined for 3 hours). It is now in my top 5 favourite restaurants in Vancouver. I will suggest that all of my business clients go here and it will definitely become a staple for special celebrations or just after work drinks. It literally is a beautiful escape. A night that transports you to France in a simple and unpretentious way. Top Top TOP!!! I hope your experience is as good as mine was.
We dropped in for an impromptu meal. The staff were lovely and professional.
The food was well priced in the moderate range but with excellent quality.
A sexy vibe to this place with food and service that delivered!!
Everything was excellent - the service, drinks, ambiance, and food. I totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal that won’t break the bank.
Excellent food, prices quite reasonable.
Great brunch, good food, good value and excellent service . Our server Romain was wonderful. Highly recommended!
The best place for lunch in downtown Vancouver, very good service, good portion of food and very delicious!
The food here is impeccable and the service is that right balance between attentive and out of your way. Some great French classics are served here in a non-pretentious setting. Love it here
Great service, ambiance & delicious food!
Very nice place. Great food and service
Amazing menu, it’s like taking a two hour visit to Paris. Great beverage service, even the non-alcoholic cocktails are outstanding. Perfect enclave of the downtown core for this little venue, like rounding a corner in Europe off the beaten path. Plenty of evening street parking right out front and just the right amount of foot traffic. Tables are a little close together inside for the claustrophobic, but that does lend itself to a very French feel to go with the moules frites and nearby conversation! Service is among the best in town.
The staff was clearly not trained adequately. The fact that our server reeked of smoke illustrates the lack of quality control with regard to diners experience.
The restaurant seems like a half hearted attempt at a French bistro. Solid concept and location but someone was very lazy when it came to staffing and training.
I’ve never given Tableau less that perfect stars before, I dine there often and always enjoy the experience. In this case the lower rating was due to a few minor hiccups. Service was great (as usual), ambience was lovely (they cranked the lights up near the end of the meal though which was a bit offputting - this wasn’t closing time), the food was good, but not as great as I’ve come to expect from Tableau. I’ve always considered the French fries to be by far the best on Vancouver, unfortunately not anymore, they’ve changed the method and ugh, they’re awful. They’re a tasteless, saltless, chewy kind of hard, no crisp, no flavour, no joy whatsoever. The steak was good’ish, but steak frites sans frites doesn’t have the same ring. The steak tartare was changed as well, the taste was good, but again it lacked lustre (why are we messing with perfection?). Anyway, I’d still recommend, it’s still worth going to but I can’t say that with the same enthusiasm. Oh Tableau, bring back the magic please.
A classic place to me. Went back after 2 years, still the same w/ new faces on the floor. Noticed quite a bit of menus came and gone. Dont really have a fair opinion this time as my choice of companion was terrible.
Excellent seafood, especially the Seafood Tower! Great service and atmosphere. Absolutely recommend to all.
We love tableau. It’s our go to. The staff is phenomenal and food always delicious. Love the room and menu. Highly recommend.
The place is great. The service is high quality and also the food.
Generally service was good but table service had repeated gaps requiring reminders which spoke to lesser attention to our table than surrounding tables.
Area for improvement - all else was very good.
It was the worst dining experience I’ve ever experience in Vancouver so far. The waitress was horrible. Coffee took 30 minutes (which we had to remind her of twice), appetizer (1 dish) 45 minutes, and almost an hour for entrees. For a restaurant that had less than 10 covers in the whole place, service was absurd. The usually dining time in any restaurant is 2 hours, it might be three here.....
In the end, we were just going to leave and grab the bill and never come back however, the waitress decided to lecture us before that; on how they course things out and how we should’ve let her know we had a movie to catch after brunch.
I personally hate complaining coming from food & beverage as well, but she just went way over...above and beyond rude.
Service was lacking. We weren't told the specials. We only realized because we saw the next table with an item that wasn't on the menu. When we received the bill, the waiter left and took a very long time to return to our table with the credit card machine. Restaurant was not busy. Food tasted great though. The Sunday pork special was amazing!
The service was great.the t iming and food very good
Went out for a solo meal when in town for a conference. Attentive service and comfortable table for one by the window so I could read my paper. Even though it's downtown the location felt more neighbourhood than urban. Very reasonable prices given the quality of the food, nice ambience, I'll definitely be back!
Tableau is our go to place for brunch with our kids. And one of my favourite dinner spots adults only. They no longer have a kids menu but our kids still love going there an splitting an adult entrée. The food is excellent and filling: i find more reasonably priced than other options downtown. Regardless if you visit with children or not, the restaurant is very accommodating and offer to spilt the entrees on separate plates without asking. One time on an adults night out on a summer evening ( 4 years ago), we had a patios seats. A lovely bird flew by and- you can imagine what happened. Right into our plates of beef shortribs. Due to the distance of the fall, the bird remnants hit 3 of 4 plates of food. The manager at Tableau graciously replaced all the plates with full portions ( even though more than half were eaten). And then refilled our glasses or wine without charge. No questions were asked, they offered and were so nice about it. They apologized that happened ( unavoidable calls of nature) and agreed they should have kept the awning rolled out.
We have frequented Tableau many times over the past 6 years. In the past some wait staff didn't seem like they enjoyed their jobs ( we had the same lady serve us numerous times over the years) but I noticed a change in my recent visit. Most of the staff are younger and were more attentive and friendly overall. The management staff have all been consistently wonderful.
It was Mother's day this most recent dining trip and Tableau always makes us feel extra special by offering a complimentary glass of champagne and a flower at the end. Tableau is a very special place for us and even my 9 year old daughter requests her birthday lunches here.
Thanks for a fabulous Mother's Day brunch - food delicious, service excellent, and setting charming as always. Can't wait to come back!
The service was poor.
The food was average at best. I had the duck and it was not cooked enough for me.
I made reservations and when I was seated I was told that the table was needed two hours from the time I sat down. I found that rude.
I would not go back.
I love the trout dish
José was fabulous
Pleasant service, excellent quality! However, when serving a table for two, food needs to come in courses. There is no room on the table for more than one dish at a time!
It was nice. One girlfriend thought it was strange they charged for a glass of tap water.
I have been to Tableau many times and it never fails to meet my expectations
Used to be our go to place we are foodies and I must say I along with my 7 guests disappointed. We all agreed it has changed....
New brunch menu is great. Try the pork belly with poached eggs. The pommes dauphines are always a delightful side.
The tables are quite close together and we were seated next to someone with a very loud voice.
That detracted from our overall enjoyment of what was otherwise a very pleasant meal.
I always enjoy my food here! Our server was very attentive and prompt with the drink orders and knowledgeable about the food. Not too noisy but a nice atmosphere.
Overpriced for what you get
Wines were lovely
The food and the service were both excellent. The taste of the dishes was formidable.
The only negative was the music... for a French bistro, the modern music was pathetic.
Wow what a great dinning experience. Excellent staff. JOSE Arnoldo Da Silva is the manager and he epitomizes great customer service. Very attentive and genuine. And food was incredible. And we will be back. Thank you Jose and team Tableau
The restaurant was so incredibly noisy that I couldn't have a conversation with my friend. The staff kindly changed my table to one at the back of the restaurant. This was better but still too noisy. I was also very disappointed with the pork cheeks entree. This seemed like something I would see at a low end diner. I've had the steak before (which is good) but wanted something different. I think Tableau should expand the number of regular entrees. I live in the neighbourhood so I would like to go frequently but the menu is too limited and I don't want to risk another disappointment. For example, why not have scallops or salmon?
I just emailed a friend and told him how disappointed I was with the overall experience so we will probably not go to Tableau for his birthday. The good thing is the staff...they are very friendly and helpful. Also, the Happy hour is great but perhaps that was the source of the extremely noisy tables (we had a reservation for 6:00 PM so perhaps there was an overlap with this crowd).
