Tap & Barrel • Convention Centre Ratings and Reviews
My salads and service very nice
Great food, great service. Would definitely come back!
The reservation was easy to make and the food and service were good. I just found the restaurant a little too loud and it was difficult to hear my table mates. Over all a fun and delicious experience.
Really liked that every beer and cider choice was on tap. Didn't make the connection to this restaurant's name, but it's all good.
Met up with an ex colleague for lunch. We both had Tuna, Tuna Burger and I had the Spicy Tuna - both were very good. Excellent service also.
Great experience of having Vancouver dine out. The cheese cake is great!
We ate there as a Dine Out Vancouver experience.
The food was your typical pub food. However, the location (by Convention Centre) made it really exciting.
We stayed with Dine Out menu and burgers as the main course. The food was good and so was the desert.
We felt it was a very good value.
Booked for Dine Out but they did not give us a right menu. Ended up ordering from regular menu instead of trying out dine out.
This time we tried Tempura Cauliflower for Appe, but didn't expect the portion is so small only 6 small pieces and caused $9, and I ordered Fish Taco, but from each taco, I can only find 2 little pieces of fish, very disappointing, not worth the money at all. I have had some other good dishes before, maybe I just ordered wrong items this time.
Staff were friendly and informative. Food was above average for bar food. Definitely recommend the PB&J Burger. Value is decent; typical bar food price.
We had the Teriyaki Tofu Rice Ball and one of their pizzas as one of their dineout. Nothing extra special about it. They have great beer, though.
I booked online 2 months in advance for our family Christmas outing for 6 people (5 and a highchair). The day of the reservation i received a confirmation call where I reiterated that the reservation was for 5 plus a highchair, at which time the woman on the phone assured me that she would make note of the highchair. When we arrived we were seated (I guess you can call an unenthusiastic young woman turning her back, walking away from us in a slow and disinterested fashion being seated) at the very back of the restaurant in a booth for 6 that was raised up and far to high for a highchair. When I said that we had booked for 5 plus a highchair the girl who seated us said "this is all we have". The 6 lower tables beside is were empty but were apparently booked for a large party. We asked for a booster seat and were informed that they had none. So we ended up being crammed together in this booth trying to make sure that our 18 month old didnt slip under the table and stayed put to eat. Basically we did not get to eat a relaxing meal as we were trying to keep all the dishes out of arms reach of a toddler on a very cramped table. The manager did offer 2 complimentary desserts and comped the child's meal but all in all we were unhappy with our experience. We get the opportunity to go our for one family dinner during the Christmas season, we booked well in advance, confirmed over the phone the same day and still seemed to catch the staff of guard and were given a table that was too cramped, too small and too high up to accommodate a high chair.
Food slightly better than Steamworks and Rogue. Good waterfront location near convention centre for business lunches and groups.
Great location, right on the water - patio of course wasn't available at night in late Oct, but still cozy inside. Pulled bacon poutine starter was well balanced and not as heavy as it looked. Fish and chips was a nice light batter, and burgers are always well executed. The tuna burger is sliced pieces rather than a filet/steak, so a bit messier than expected, but full of flavour! (Add bacon for a great flavour bump.) Thai curry pizza has a well balanced heat and taste, and was an easy hit for the group.
Only slight misstep was one of the beers in the Seasonal flight. Might have been skunky, might have been intentionally SUPER bitter. Server wasn't terribly friendly about being asked to swap it out, but did accommodate, although not without reminding us that "tasting them to see if you like them is the POINT of a flight..." Lost points on service for that alone, otherwise was perfectly fine and quick. Nonetheless, a good reminder that a beer called "Farmhouse Funk" is probably going to taste like a barnyard floor.
Overall, a nice relaxed night out with out-of-town guests. Would come again.
Solid Canadian pub grub with a Hootersesque feel. Pulled bacon poutine is worth the calories and more!!
Creative and varied menu .... easy to find something for everyone's taste. Service was efficient and extremely friendly. Excellent outdoor setting with a beautiful view if it were not for the gigantic structure erected for FIFA. Hopefully, it will be taken down soon after the games.
Overall the experience for brunch was nice however, one member of our group order the pulled bacon benny and it was very disappointing. Barely any meat so it was basically just the egg on the english muffin. Others ordered the kits beach benny which was great but only made the pulled bacon benny look that much worse. It was mentioned to our server and she took it off our bill which was very much appreciated.
Awesome Thai Shrimp Pizza modified with goat cheese and no Serrano peppers! Also, the side of fries was very tasty and seasoned well. My friend's PB&J burger with fries was definitely different as not everyone would think PB&J on a burger but it's actually chipotle peanut butter & bacon jam. Ingenious! The servers were very attentive! Prices are reasonable. I fully recommend this restaurant and I will definitely return!
The server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer selection. This is sadly lacking in many craft beer bars in Vancouver. The food is good quality pub food, stick to the basics.
Terrific food at the Tap & Barrel. We had an excellent burger and tuna sandwich. We will definitely be back.
Friendly staff and Vincent accommodated our request to have a quiet area for our group. They exceeded pur expectations by seating us at the private area overlooking the water.
We visited this location for the first time for Dine out Vancouver this past weekend. We were looking forward to trying T&B out as they will soon have one in our neighborhood and we couldn't wait to try it! We did decide to do the Dine out Vancouver menu, which meant choosing from a limited 3 course meal. We had seen the menu ahead of time and found ourselves excited about the options! Unfortunately, once we got our food it became a so so experience. Both of our appetizers were just okay and nothing exciting (Salad & Soup) and we both found them bland. Next ,we both ordered the steak option...It was not very good to say the least (so sad as we were looking forward to it). The steak was overcooked, quite textured on the outside and the seasoning tasted of licorice which was a total turn off. The veggies underneath were super bland and somewhat uncooked. Over all we wouldn't go back for dine out (Maybe steak just wasn't the right thing to order?) but maybe we would try it again for pub type food.
I booked a table for 8 people and they have us a 6 person table which didn't work for us. We also had a friend reserve for another 8 people and asked to be seated next to each other. They put us by the food door which cut us off from the second group and it didn't work for us. Half the people had to stand and we had to ask for the smaller 6 person table on the other side of us for us to at least be close to each other. Also, the waitress would take 1 person's order and then take off and we would be looking around for someone to take our order!!! I've been there before and have had better service. Maybe it was an off day, I'm not sure. The beer and the food was great - delicious.
Great set menu for Dine Out Vancouver for ONLY $28!
Went with my large group of girlfriends and we all agreed that this is the hot spot for Summer 2015!
