Server Phil was great! Great food great drinks and I will keep coming back 😊
Excellent service! Tap & Barrel did an excellent job accommodating my special request and the warm, professional and personable staff made our dining experience a most enjoyable one. Thank you!
Excellent venue with patio outside overlooking water and mountains. Food was ok, nothing outstanding but also nothing to complain about. Good place for mingling with friends.
Our server was incredible, beer tasted great and food was a little disappointing. The bottom of our pizza was a little soggy, flatbread and hummus was delicious and lettuce wraps were mediocre. That being said.. would I go back? 100% yes. Thank you for a great time.
Made a reservation weeks ahead for the patio and when we arrived were told it would take 40 minutes to get a good table. Nice hostess found one in about 20...but it was next to a stag event so we were reseated on another part of the patio but it was right under a speaker and we couldn't hear each other. Finally decided to eat inside instead and had to wait again for a table with a nice view of people's feet walking past. Food was decent and our server was very good. Not the experience we expected at a waterfront restaurant. We could have been anywhere and had a better ambiance.
Food was very yummy and our server Ryan was awesome, will definitely go back
Good food amd service
Food was amazing and our server was an absolute sweetheart!
All great. Perfect table overlooking the water. Great service, even let us linger as it wasn’t too busy. Delicious food. Will come back as often as possible. Thx.
This is our regular Friday lunch spot for very good reason. This Friday was my birthday and they went above and beyond by giving me a free desert. And the Apple Tart was delicious. I don't usually have deserts but this was much appreciated.
The Hosting Staff were so friendly and made possible a last minute request for a specific table. Our Server exceeded expectations and made the evening that much more enjoyable-or was it the Irish accent. All in all we are huge fans of Tap n Barrel
We were in a cute little alcove with other diners fairly close to us. I would have preferred greater distancing. The concrete floors made the noise by the small child echo.
I booked patio one day before, when I arrived, was told no table available on patios, we were offered a table inside, a few minutes later, I came out and found more than 5 tables on patio available, I was no happy about that. If patio table is available when booking, customers should get it, I hate the face I was told with lie.
- All of the staff were friendly and nice
- Most of the food was good
Not good things:
- Took 40 minutes for food to arrive after ordering
- Servers never refilled or offered water refill
- Side of tater tots had a pool of oil in the bottom of the container
- When trying to flag down somebody for the bill, we were told "be there in a minute" and then nobody ever came back. We had an appointment to be at so after 10-15 minutes of waiting, I had to get up and go to the till to ask to pay
I've been to this location once before and had an enjoyable experience. There was only a handful of tables inside and a handful of tables outside so I am not sure why the level of service was so poor or why everything took so long.
Great service great food fantastic ambience . We will come back
Our server was super nice and enthusiastic. They were only doing only menus but accommodated us with physical ones upon request. And our seating had a great view! I got the cajun fried chicken burger which was better than I had expected.
Made reservation in advance for outdoor seating but we were offered a so-so outdoor (the 2nd patio area that is south of the main patio) with no umbrella covering. 2 of the Happy hour wines were “SOLD out” with 1 or 2 other items on the menu marked sold out. Overpriced for the other happy hour ‘bulk’ wine. The only good value was the sliders and good tasting on the IpA beer.
It was a hot day and we didn’t get a water refill until we asked for the bill. Fries were cold, but the rest of the food was good. Water view on the patio is amazing.
Food was delicious. I had Southern Fried Chicken burger and it was fabulous. We sat on the patio and the view was amazing. Service was a little slow and not overly friendly but otherwise great experience
Amazing view. Amazing service. LOVED this place! The burger was so good.
Awesome location. Be sure to get a table on the patio.
A friend and I arrived 20 minutes early for our reservation at 5;45. We were seated at an amazing table overlooking the water on the patio. We ordered their special rum cocktail which was lovely. Since we're two ladies, with lighter appetites we shared plates. We had the Lettuce Wrap with chicken as a starter. It was delightful, The chicken had a crunchy coating and the spice level was great! For dinner we ordered the Pesto Chicken Linguine and it was amazing. The almond in the pesto smoothed it out and made it creamy without taking over the flavour of the pesto. For dessert we selected an warm caramel apple tart with maple ice cream. This too did not disappoint. We will be back.
Host was cheerful, helpful, welcoming; table location was perfect, as requested in reservation; Server was good but wasn’t around enough and our order instructions weren’t followed eg: I asked for fries instead of mashed potatoes but got mashed (which were delicious, so I didn’t mind.) Patron who ordered pizza, asked for parmesan on top, but though the pizza was tasty, there was no parmesan; haloumi goddess bowl was good but had no dressing and no servers were around to tell until half the bowl was eaten-perhaps the dressing wasn’t vegan/gluten free but the customer should have been asked about a substitute dressing; salmon was delicious. Steak frites was not. My husband will not eat there again (he ordered the steak) though we all had a lovely time. The view was incredible.
Travelled from Ontario for vacation. Made the reservation a couple of weeks previously and we still weren’t able to get a waterside table even though some looked to be available. Service was somewhat confusing with multiple servers. People who came in after us got water before us. This place was recommended so I guess I expected more
Food not very good.
Great view from the patio across the bay. Happy hour drinks and food very cheap, but takes ages to get served on the patio, which is a long way from the actual premises. A super long walk to the washrooms as well from the patio. Don't have enough servers on the patio, our server disappeared several times and we had to try and get the attention of several of her colleagues.
Claims to be a pet friendly patio but discriminates against dogs above 10 pounds, forcing them to be tied up outside the patio. Small dogs however are welcome! Seems fair. Staff were giving mixed messages on whether or not we could bring our dog/have him on the patio and staff were incredibly rude. Overpriced and not worth your time.
Overall food was good except for my Cajun steak.
Sent steak back because it was very rare. Had asked for med rare.
Came back still to rare.
Everyone else’s food was real good.
When I reserved I asked for a table closet to water side. I was told when we arrived none were available. They could have said that when I reserved.
A table was empty right where I had asked to be seated the whole time we were there. WTF.
Poor service. Poor food quality compared to the other Tap and Barrels. Just feels like this is where the company sends the new staff to work before going to the other locations.
Everything was really great!
BUT we should have been told at the start that we only had our table till a certain time. Not 15 min before they had to prepare it for someone else.
Absolutely great meal, service and the fabulous views of Coal Harbor are to die for. It was a spectacular evening and we are so fortunate that we can do this every day.
Spectacular view on waterfront patio forgives anything! Food pretty basic for gastro-pub fare. Service very iffy but appears to be because they have a large number of very young, hastily trained(?) people and a deluge of post-covid summer visitors eager to be there.
should have handrails on the patio steps
Green salad was a bit wilted
Beautiful views and delicious food!! Really enjoyed the mint & cucumber g&t!!! Waiter was friendly but hosts very unapproachable.
Great view! Friendly staff and amazing craft beer menu.
Loved the view. The server was great. Food was good.
While this location is one of my favourites in Vancouver, their service the last couple of times has been disappointing. Servers seem disinterested and banal. The food is always good and their beverages excellent, but the service has certainly deteriorated!
The restaurant was fine. The food was pretty meh, as was the service, although of course everyone's doing their best. We had made a reservation for 7pm, but came 45 minutes early, and were told that we could only have a seat at the back end of the patio, and if we wanted to be closer to the water we'd have to wait until 7pm, this despite the fact that there were many other tables open. My daughter is a hostess at a busy restaurant, and I know that there are lots of good reasons for this, so fair enough. We took the table, only to watch the other tables sit open for our the bulk of our stay. The waiter's section wasn't full, they weren't not being seated for covid safety, so it seemed a bit arbritrary and left a bad taste in our mouth, including our daughter's. Maybe being a bit clearer about the reasons might have helped. I wouldn't normally recommend the restaurant, except that the location was convenient (we were at the convention centre for an exhibit) and beautiful.
Came by on a Sunday during Happy Hour. Tap and Barrel have definitely improved their Happy Hour menu since my last visit many years ago. Great to see an IPA on tap. I opted for the steak frites. The steak was cooked as ordered and I enjoyed the kale Caesar salad. There was no issue with the service.
The service was particularly slow this time around. Took a really long time to get our bill though we were done eating for 20 minutes. It was challenging as we were in the sun and couldn't find our server to help us settle the bill.
