TAP at MGM Grand Detroit Ratings and Reviews
Service was excellent, food was very good, but the strong smell of tobacco smoke coming from the casino just ruined the evening.
When this restaurant first opened the staff was well trained and great. Now it is terrible. We were seated quickly and sat for over 10 minutes before any waitstaff stopped at our table despite several walking right past and even looking directly at us. After our meal and we had to again wait for quite a while for our server to get us our check, it was wrong as we were charged for an extra meal which we did not order. As we like to visit the casino and have dinner prior to a sporting event we are strongly considering visiting other venues.
The food was good as always, although one was served incorrectly but was quickly corrected.
The food was great. I had 9 ppl in my party and dividing the bill was a headache because waitress wouldnt give us sepaeate checks.
This is by far the best restaurant downtown Detroit is easy access in and out the food is great the hostess Timiko is super friendly and the serving staff is amazing will be returning
Love the food and service from the hostess to the servers everything was great
Fast friendly service - food good quality, nice craft beer selection.
One downfall - cigarette smoke from casino noticeable - sit away from outside walls but still noticeable
Was nice evening for anniversary dinner while staying at MGM.
Food was delicious, the ribs were so tender although not seasoned. The appetizer portion was very nice enough to share. I really recommend the bread pudding writhe sauce, it was delicious. This was birthday outing for hubby.
This was my first time dining at Taps after watching the commercials and billboards. I am not a gambler so my effort to dine there yielded a two-week reservation through Open Table so I could be sure of the date and time for a birthday dinner.
The service was great and the food was okay. The steak was not as tender as anticipated but the salon was great. However, the biggest issue was the smell from a sewer or toilet problem. One's NOSE is attached to one's TASTE BUDS... so the food was not as delectable as it could have been. Toward the end of the hour, someone finally decided to turn on the air to allow the smell to dissipate so when the bread pudding came it was divine.
One whole. Table didn't get dinner and didn't tell us that they are all backed up and dinner was going to be late. We had hockey tickets. Also we made open table reservations because they people on the phone were not able to work out how to handle a table of 12....
We were seated in a new area in the back of TAPS that was great for a Work Group Gathering. We had 9. There was one other large group seated in the same seating area. It offered much more privacy for conversation that the other more public areas of the restaurant.
My cousin and I attended the Phil Phillips free jam session and it was amazing the seating was great our 1st server was wonderful I'm mad I don't know her name but she had dark brown hair in a ponytail, she was great. We had the high table next to the doors of your banquet area. I will definitely be back and tell everyone I know about you.
The food is decent however its quality has definitely declined over time. The service was subpar as usual.
Not a first timer to TAP. They have a great drink selection and a large menu. I've never been disappointed! Great atmosphere and fun for friends. Be sure to make reservations because it does seem to always be busy.
Our waitress was very slow our food took forever to come out the restaurant wasnt crowded at all. She took 15 mins to bring our check as well. The food was great it was our waitress that was horrible
Try the pretzels!
Great bar scene if you are downtown and the food is great
The service, food, and atmosphere were perfect. We were taking an out of town friend to dinner on a cold night, so the valet parking was a plus. We would definitely go there again!
Always enjoy our casual dinner at Taps. Loved the fried chicken.
Excellent variety of food, exceptional service and great atmosphere
My husband and I celebrate our 8 yr anniversary there. We had a really nice time the food was excellent and our waitress was very friendly we will be back again.
Decor good, setting good, location good, food real good.....service not so good!!!! The waiter was completely disinterested, was not helpful or friendly.....I don't know why he was even there!!!!
TAP is a great all around spot to eat and drink. Tons of TV's, great beer selection and a large/diverse food menu that will surely please everyone. It's one of my go to spots downtown
The food here is very good and until my most recent experience I thought the service was too. Do yourself a favor and be sure not to sit in Nicoles section. She was inattentive, rude & condescending to say the least.
Great service. Delicuous dishes. Reasonable prices. Great, relaxing find when you need a break from the black jack tables.
We had 6:00 dinner reservations for our family dinner (all adults) the service was okay for this. We left went to gamble a little and came back for drinks and dessert. We waited 25 minutes for drinks. After 40 minutes my mom and dad left without their dessert. The waitress rolled her eyes at us everytime we would ask for something. She was truly horrible. My husband and I go there during the week for lunch often and are very happy with the food and service. Unfortunately this was my brother and parents first and last trip there. They absolutely hated it
We definitely will return; the Portabella Sandwich is wonderful and you must try the fried pickles and Mac & Chesses Sticks. I do not drink, however our server, made sure my non-alcoholic drink was perfect, and I had two. In our group everyone loved the service, was well-timed and friendly. you love sports, oh the large flat screens, this is the place to be. "
Every one in my team had a good lunch and the waitress service provided by Rebecca was excellent. Will definitely have my team meeting at TAP MGM again.
Very good pulled pork sandwich, they pull the pork right off the bones.
Awesome place to eat drink and meet new friends. Plenty of slots and tables for an alternate atmosphere. Must come down to experience the Tap and MGM.
Took my family (7 of us) for dinner before Red Wings game. Lions game was on and the volume was so loud, we couldn't even hear what each other was saying. Not very enjoyable especially for my parents who are in their 70's
Nice place, good food...but fairly average. No real complaints but wasn't "wow'd" either. However, we would go back....
The service was excellent the server was very accommodating. Our nachos were cold. The meat could have been warmer. Everything else was good.
Good food, good Lions football discussion with Dan Miller, Glover Quin and Coach Caldwell via phone.
The limited options on the buffet was not worth the $20 price. The omelet station was backed up and instead of eggs being poured into the pan syrup was mistakenly poured. Even after that the chef forgot to remake the omelet. The drinks also took a long time.
The Lions radio show and great food. Love it! Yes really love it!
This is my 3rd time at TAP, and I am still waiting to receive outstanding service! Yes, the food is good, but it is a pub restaurant, we had 12:30 reservations and did not receive our beer for 15 minutes! Restaurant was not overly busy, but it was 3/4 full. Our server, when asked what beers were on TAP looked around like she was distracted and said "Oh you want a beer menu?' We wanted to see what beer was offered...that should be prominent on all tables, or on a chalkboard perhaps. She then suggested we order our food with our drink order. Anyway, food was good, service somewhat lacking.
Boneless rib sandwich and pizza was GREAT! Looking forward to my next visit.
good meal and fun restaurant. However, I ordered steak fajitas and was given 5 smalls strips of steak!!! Never have had less steak with a fajita.
I have dined ay Tap 4 times. The food is always good but the service gets worse each time I am there. Not sure how they have not managed to get better over time. I enjoy going there but after this last visit, I am not sure I will return. We waited over 5 minutes to see a server, over 10 minutes for drinks and then one was wrong, another 10 minutes to order and then nearly 45 minutes for food and they were not busy at all. Hostess was rude too. We talked to the manager and he was of no help. It's time to hire better servers or put more time into training them.
