Our server was the perfect balance of enough attention but not too much. Got everything right and our drinks and food were terrific. We’re seated past the fireplace in the far section away from the door. There was a large group near us that at times were loud but overall the noise level was low and the ambiance was consistent with what it normally is. Great experience.

The menu for those of us who like fish and veggies, but not beef or pork, is truly outstanding. Love the fish tacos and also the crab cakes. Love the donut dessert. Love the moderate prices. The only thing I'd suggest is expanding happy hour seating to include the dining room (the outdoor patio is often too hot to sit at comfortably during happy hour and the bar seating is both limited and uncomfortable for those of us who don't like hightops). Other than that, I definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner.

Nearly every aspect of this dining establishment is rated lower this visit in comparison to several previous visits. The food, the drinks, the service; all have deteriorated. Prime time Friday evening and the room is maybe half full. I may not return either. Not sure what is to blame, but some quick changes are needed to save this place.

Great food and service. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a restaurant with a wide selection of food choices. I would recommend the Tavern investigate installing a draft beer system to keep with the Tavern theme.

Disappointed. Made a reservation for brunch after my husband had recently enjoyed a corporate event here. Wait staff was friendly. Ambiance was nice. Accommodating for families. Unfortunately the food was not good. Eggs were over cooked. Bacon extremely salty. Avocado toast was old and had turned colors. When asked for a virgin smoothie off their menu, the manager informed us they don't have a smoothie machine and so the drink was undrinkable due to the fruit getting stuck in the straw. She was annoyed we were displeased. They took care of us with the bill but I will not return. This is a place trying to be fancy but clearly can't deliver. Stick to Rye down the street.

Ashley, our server, was absolutely great. Our meal had pluses and minuses. The wedge salad, as always there, was very good--consistent. The pork chop and mushrooms was excellent. Fingerling potatoes---just ok. The salmon was thin, a bit overcooked and tasteless. How does a chef screw up salmon? The salted spinach also tasteless. A small bit of garlic, olive oil and a few slices of almonds would have made a big difference, I'd still recommend going there, but be careful what you order.

Food choices/options were extensive. Quality, taste and portions were excellent. Prices were, amazingly, reasonable. We are from St Louis where finer dining restaurants have decided to raise prices to levels that are a bit of a turn off at best. If there was a 6 star ranking I would give it a 6. I wish I could remember the name of our server because she was 6 star also.

First time visit to Tavern and we were rewarded with a fantastic meal, good service, and an enjoyable evening. The BBQ blackened mahi and grits was nearly perfect. It's hard to find "good" grits here in KC and someone in the kitchen knows what they're doing. This was lick-the-plate good. The mahi was fresh, flakey, perfectly cooked. The BBQ sauce was actually subtle, which is perfect. So many places overwhelm a dish with BBQ sauce up front and this was the right amount. There's also a bit of a kick to it from the blackened seasoning but not too much. Wife enjoyed a petite tender steak on asparagus ravioli in a rich sauce. Both were almost too rich by the end of the plate but overall it was delicious. The steak was done perfectly to order (medium). We had good service and a few nice cocktails to boot. There isn't much for ambiance here, just tables. For some reason they were playing the same song on repeat in the bar area later in the evening, which was a little annoying. Looking forward to a return visit

Hadn’t been to Tavern in a couple of months, been traveling to see my new granddaughter! Came in Friday night, asked to be seated in one of Staci ‘s booths - we lucked out, she was working that night!! She always greets us with a friendly smile, she remembers our favorite cocktails, gives us good suggestions on entrees and takes wonderful care of us!! We are never waiting on a refill of a drink, she is attentive and never makes us feel rushed. We have such a good rapport with her, and she is one of the main reasons why we keep coming back to Tavern!! As usual, cocktails, appetizers and dinner were delicious!! Thanks Staci for another fun visit to Tavern!! 😊

Easter Dinner for the three of us. The area where we sat was quiet. Our server was excellent and very attentive. When a large party came in, he apologized in advance that it may get noisy. It didn’t and it didn’t interfere with our meal and conversation. This is a beautiful, upscale restaurant!
