Tavola is a terrific West End neighbourhood restaurant, serving modern Italian food. Welcoming you is the team who brought you previous local heroes Tapastree and Nook. Tavola continues the tradition of sharing food - family style, in a warm, contemporary environment at value-conscious prices. The dining room reflects this convivial atmosphere with a 18 seat shared table that is perfect for both groups and casual diners.

The antipasto bar is the place to start as we feature Mozzarella di Bufala, Burrata, artisan proscuitto and salami - sliced to order, along with a constantly changing offering of crostini and salads. Also setting Tavola apart is the commitment to housemade Pastas and sauces - toothsome and hearty. Share some with friends and family along with one of our Big Plates - steak, roast chicken, braised meats and fish, prepared as classic Italian platters.

Superb food with wonderfully fresh ingredients.

I’ve gone to Tavola before and would have given it 4 stars. The dishes we chose (both from the board) though were too peppery for me though. They were the squid ink pasta and the cod. I know the food there is usually outstanding so I would go with the old favorites like the ragu and the brick chicken.

Tavola always delivers. On this evening, there was a very large party, so it was loud! But once we got used to the volume, we had a fabulous night as expected. Our food (which we shared, was delicious, generous and perfectly cooked. A great place to celebrate a birthday with friends! Good service too!

We had a wonderful birthday dinner at Tavola. The food was excellent as well as the drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). We were impressed with all of the menu choices and the number of specials. The service was great and we will definitely return!

We really enjoyed our meals except for the rib steak, which was gristly and somewhat underdone (disappointing, esp given the high price). The appetizers, salads and pastas were great! The wine was well paired. We did not appreciate the upselling on the part of our server (who said he'd been there for many years and, therefore, knew how much food we should order). He was insistent on us ordering more than we really wanted, and we didn't eat it all. We ordered an expensive protein as well as the chicken special and 3 bottles of wine (for 6 people), finishing with a bill close to $400, so we were not trying to be economical -- just cognizant of how much we wanted to eat. We arrived at 6:00 and were instructed to take the table by the door even though we were only the second party to arrive. There were several other empty tables for 6 that we asked about but were told to take the one by the door. It was the first time at the restaurant for 3 members of the party, so being by the door (and the drafty sliding door to the patio) detracted somewhat from the experience. Just to say that the service did make a difference. We'll try it again to see if the latter is better. If so, we'll recommend to our friends and colleagues. If not, we won't. Thanks for reading.

Overall, quite excellent, but I do put a lot of emphasis on service which was slightly lacking, hence the 4 stars; our server seemed quite knowledgeable about the menu although he was quite aloof and seemed like he was too cool to serve us so it felt quite awkward.. other than those instances throughout our meal, everything else was great. The regular menu seemed lacking to us, but the daily specials is where it's at! Our whole meal came from the specials (appy and entrees) and it seemed all of the tables around us ordered mostly from it too. Food was amazing! Our favourite was the trout. Highly recommended.

My last dining experience at Tavola was out of the norm. The pasta dishes were extremely salty. The service was good but no discount or anything offered to apologize for the overly salted food.
