Father’s day and they were packed and it was also a nice day in Seattle so they opened up their roof terrace. Problem was, the kitchen and bar could not even come close to keeping up. Food took over an hour to get to us and drinks were about 15min. Even after all that, brunch was sub-par and I would not go back for brunch again. Will give them the benefit of the doubt and try dinner again as we have had a good experiences in the past for dinner with them.
Don’t go for a special occasion! Terribly disappointed.. waited over 45 mins for food, and when it arrived, just dismal! No one really stepping up to make sure guests were happy. Several tables just walked out. Hmmm. Sad. Never going back.
Took and hour and a half to receive our food at brunch, no drinks comped or apology at all. They avoided us until our food was ready.
Great Father’s Day Brunch
Terra Plata is a fun, energetic restaurant with great food. Their outdoor rooftop terrace is beautiful, energetic and lively. The food is fresh and there a tons of healthy options.
I took my dad here for Father’s Day. It was fun food to eat, everything was perfect. You pay a little more, but the quality more than matches the price.
Highly recommend this place.
Our server was wonderful, so accommodating about wines and timing! The food was superb. The salmon, shishito peppers, gorgeous cheese plate - perfectly ripe. Also a beautiful salad with little gems and strawberries. On to of that, that roof deck on a summer night, is a world class experience.
Booked on this app for 6 people at 6:15 pm . Specifically requesting a table on terrace. Received a confirmation. And one on day off as well.
Upon arriving they said there was no table for the terrace, and they did not see a request for it in my reservation. So our table was set up in the downstairs which was empty of other diners.I was not happy as we brought our out of town guests there for both the food and the outdoors The Hostess was understanding and very apologetic. She brought over complimentary truffle chips for the table, and at one point informed us that a table upstairs was soon leaving and if we wanted to we could move up there. We declined but appreciated that she thought to offer it up.
The food was excellent as always. For appetizers don’t miss the salted and roasted peppers. For entrée a couple ordered the pig which was phenomenal with broth of clams and sausage. One ordered the roast chicken, also delicious. Two of us had the King Salmon which was disappointing. Perfectly cooked and tender, but both the fish and the side were tasteless.
For desert we shared a couple of crime brûlées which were the epitome of what crime brûlée should be ... silky smooth, not too heavy, a delicate touch of crackly caramel on top.
The service was excellent as well.. food arrived together and well timed. The wait staff was also very nice.. and very sweet drinks server.
Overall, no terrace this night but the food and staff more than compensated.
The food was outstanding, moderately priced. Had the beet salad, peppers, octopus, and king salmon.
You cannot beat the view for a rooftop.
Service much improved since my last visit a year ago. Though still slow. Just tell them if you have a show. Expect the experience to be two hours. Europe style.
Good spot for a business lunch. Good food and the servers accommodated one member who was on a tight schedule by providing quick lunch service. Would definitely eat here again.
Enjoyed rooftop dining during our first visit to Seattle . Fun sharing small plates and entrees. Wine list very nice!
I came here with some friends while visiting Seattle this past weekend & we absolutely loved it! We were initially attracted to the rooftop seating we saw while walking in the neighborhood the day before, but we ended up sitting inside due to rain. I'm super bummed I didn't get our server's name because he was amazing and very accommodating! Great little spot to grab brunch with friends or, I would imagine, go on a nice day-date. Next time I'm in Seattle, I'd love to sit out on their rooftop patio to get a different experience. 10/10 would recommend!
I was excited to give this place another shot after a few years since the last poor experience. My main gripe is a bad setup in the dining room where the entry establishes a high speed traffic corridor of servers, guest arrivals, and the host whisking by the main long shared table. It wouldn’t be a huge problem if there was adequate clearance around the table. Unfortunately, the bulky chairs and narrow space means you’ll be constantly bumped by every passing individual. I was even told to push in my chair because the person behind me was sticking out too far. Terrible approach to customer service. Oh yeah, $45 for three eggs and some juice is rediculous.
Dinner is always lovely at Terra Plata!
Outstanding upstairs heated patio!
The food was very good. The menu is small but has a good variety of salad, fish and meat options. I had the beet salad and it was excellent. There are larger tables for groups and they have a roof top deck for dining in good weather.
Great food, great service. We enjoy our dinner in the terrace and it was perfect!
Food is always delicious, service was great, excellent selection of cocktails, wine, beer, plus the ambiance is great!
The roof terrace was great, and the food was delicious. Slightly disappointed that the menu was limited to paella (we didn't know before we arrived) but it was excellent
Great food and drinks, and the staff were excellent. The atmosphere is very nice and welcoming. The rooftop dining area is lovely with heaters and minimal noise.
Wonderful meal. Great service. Felt like we were VIP. It is always this way. Can't recommend highly enough!
I had dinner with 2 girlfriends we requested roof seating . We sat on the roof with a heater close by that made it comfortable even when it became overcast. The wait staff we very helpful and attentive. We shared a grilled octopus dish, pasta dish, risotto and a salad-everything was great!! It was a lovely evening and we will return!!
Amazing cinnamon rolls and wonderful food and atmosphere. A favorite place when I’m in Seattle.
Terra Plata is always a superb experience. Dining on the rooftop is a complete treat. We keep coming back.
lovely...just lovely lunch spot..steak salad, so good...mmmm
Overall, the terrible service ruined what was an otherwise decent restaurant/kitchen. I spend a lot of time in restaurants for business and pleasure and have never had such a poor experience. I do not write reviews often, but I am doing so here in the hopes that the management reads this and does something to improve the poor service.
I took my client to the restaurant with a colleague for a 730 tues reservation on a recommendation of a friend who lives in capital hill. I was in town for a conference. We were seated at the last table in the corner, essentially in the bathrooms. This was not a good start. I understand there are limited tables, but it was 730 and there were clearly a number of open 4 tops that were not in the bathroom. The service was down hill from there. We ordered an app, and they asked to take it away when we were half way finished. The waiter repeatedly forgot to bring drink orders and it was not busy. My entree was brought 15 minutes before my two table mates and I ordered the steak. I know they do a tapas style, but that was really something. Then, they took all my colleagues silverware and did not replace right before they dropped her order. Next, they brought my client's dish. They did a really good job preparing it, she is a vegan, and the food in general was really good.
Unbelievably, the bus boy came and took the dish from my client while she had her spoon in her hand above the half full dish and asked her if he could pack it to go. WTF? I have never seen anything like this and we were absolutely in shock. To top it off, the waiter came back a few minutes later and dropped the check without asking if we wanted coffee or dessert and despite the fact that we did not ask for the check. It was 900. We asked him why he gave us the check, and we stated we would like to order coffee and dessert. He said we looked like we were not interested in coffee and dessert so he just brought the check. WTF.
the food and service was excellent, My friend and I shared three dishes because everything sounded so delicious we couldn't decide.
Loved the rooftop patio but would never return due to 1) forgetful, flippant service and 2)overpriced food.
The food was amazing good. But service is not the best. We had a total of 5 server by the end of our meal. Our leftover was suppose to be box, but not brought to us before we wrapped up our check.
Such a beautiful rooftop and delicious food. Staff was friendly and fun and keep our wine glasses full :)
We greatly enjoyed a Mother's Day brunch. Excellent atmosphere and food. We plan to return there for a date night in the near future.
They were very accommodating to our group and food was delicious, it was a busy day and some drinks and food took time to arrive but by no means be deterred by it, if you can try to seat in the rooftop on those summer afternoons and enjoy the athmosphere and food.
Our server was great! But the kitchen took forever. We were there for 3.5 hours and had to leave before we received all of our food.
Service was great. Food delicious
As a longtime fan of this establishment, I am sad to see the. Decline in service level of late. Not only was our server curt (a kind word), and a put off by our minimal requests for round of drinks and water, I observed the others around us getting similar, diffident treatment. Used to be one of my go-tos for friends dinners and client dinners. Sadly, I will consider elsewhere for my next outings with friends and clients.
My girlfriend and I saw the restaurant recommended on a brunch list for the rooftop patio and decided to check it out. Drove down there and approached the host stand where a gentleman was standing waiting to be spoken with as well. He mentioned he had been waiting for about 5 minutes already. Host finally comes up and helps the gentleman a few minutes later without acknowledging us. Comes back several minutes later and asks if we have a reservation, we state we didn't and she says that they are too busy and aren't taking any more walk ins today.... half the bottom floor tables were empty... So we leave and my girlfriend's mother checks open table for the hell of it and we can get a reservation for literally 5 minutes in the future. So we booked it and go back in and inform them we now have a reservation. No apology or excuse, just told that they were prepping our table. Pair of men come in while we are waiting and state that they DO NOT have a reservation and got seated right away. Never got an explanation for why were going to be denied service but they were invited in less than 5 minutes later.
Got seated. Waitress was fine. Warned us the kitchen was running a little slow. Manager came up a minute later to apologise for the wait for food when we'd been sitting for only a few minutes. She was looking for the table next to us where they'd been waiting 45 minutes for no food. Apparently their ticket had been lost.
Food was ok. Expensive for what it was.
Tl;Dr: hosting service was unacceptable, they will turn away business for no given explanation and food was just ok. Will not be returning and will actively discourage anyone from trying them out.
Amazing food and service as always! Can't beat the roof for Sunday brunch in the sun!
Great food and great setting. Service is a bit inattentive but very typical for Seattle. The food is always delicious and the drinks some of the best in the city. When the weather is nice the rooftop dining is such a treat.
