What Insiders Are Saying
It doesn’t get much better than having a Spanish brunch on Terra Plata’s rooftop garden in Capitol Hill. We like it for Monday night paella too.
love their rooftop!
The host was amazing and the whole crew was super accommodating. It was an amazing experience.
Fresh and flavorful - but small servings for the small plates - you need to order a lot of them to be satisfied. Nice variety of offerings in the small plates for vegetarians - not so for the dinner plate offerings. And they charge extra for bread! Surprised at that - though I am not familiar with the Seattle dining scene - maybe the norm?
I've been to Terra Plata several times; this was the first time we were seated on the roof. Even though the evening had turned a wee bit chilly, the heaters were sufficient to keep things cozy. We had a lovely dinner surrounded by the rooftop garden that yields tomatoes and fresh herbs for Tamara Murphy's imaginative menu. In late summer/early fall so many local ingredients are at their absolute peak, giving the chef plenty of inspiration.
What a great restaurant! We had friends in from out of town and took them to Terra Plata. We sat outdoors on the second level. The weather was perfect, the setting was excellent, and the food was terrific. It was a perfect Seattle experience. We look forward to going back sometime.
GREAT FOOD! Helpful hostess, amazing pates, pork was delicious, fried green tomatoes perfect, salted Carmel desert was amazing.
The service at the restaurant was great. Breakfast options were good, but not great. Overall the experience was also good but not great. I was trying to decide between Mamnoon or Terra Plata. In the future, I will go back to Mamnoon for brunch.
Initially service was great. They called to ask if we wanted rooftop seating after I made a reservation online. However, our server was a bit strange. Often just standing behind us without saying anything and I only had to assume he was waiting for our order. More importantly, the food was too salty. I ordered the meatballs and wished there was more couscous as most of the flavor was in this part of the dish. The hamburger that my husband ordered was way over salty. For the price I expected better.
We chose Terra Plata based on the great reviews and it did not disappoint. The food was interesting, seasonal, and delicious. We were celebrating our anniversary and were really impressed that the hostess and wait staff remembered and mentioned it. There was a special menu with our names and Happy Anniversary printed on the top, and they brought us complimentary glasses of champagne. We loved the ambience of the rooftop seating. The whole experience was even better than we expected and made for a magical evening.
We hope to bring our staff here for an end of the summer appreciation dinner as we noticed that they also have some larger tables for groups.
We were visiting Seattle and because of amazing pictures and ratings on Google, we made an 8pm reservation on a Sunday evening. Our host was welcoming and escorted us to the rooftop outdoor seating option which was wonderful.
Our server recommended a perfect bottle of rose. For starters we ordered shishito peppers and octopus which were delicious, but not sure we received the 4 ounces of octopus the server stated (5 bites paired with hummus). We placed our entree orders for the Waygu ribeye and two burgers, one medium and one medium well. At approximately 9:30 when the entrees still had not arrived, our server advised the kitchen had gotten behind (and I’m suspecting because of kitchen staffing as I had observed several open tables upon entering). Both burgers arrived as medium with one rather cool to the touch and the ribeye, cooked correctly, was also not hot. We brought this to the attention of the host who offered to comp all items and advise the owners, but I stated I was not requesting for anything to be comped. They offered to fix or remake our meals, but we declined as it was already 9:45 by this time. We did order two desserts which were very delicious, which were comped and they did bring out a complimentary dessert wine. But when the server presented the check, all food items were comped. I advised the server this was not what I had asked and had him rebuild the check correctly. While the server was kind and apologetic, I felt it was his responsibility in the accuracy of our order as well as the timing of the service that could have made our experience what was expected and shared by those who have given great reviews.
Food at Terra Plata invariably creative and delicious. Never disappoints.
Awesome ambience with roof deck seating great service and food
We ordered a selection of dishes and they came out as each one was ready.the first dish was beets with, goats cheese and nut, which was very tasty and a nice if unusual combination! Next up was the cheese plater, which was served at room temperature with a selection of pickles, nuts and tasty bread. Yum, yum! The broccoli and cauliflower followed and was nicely cooked with a delicious dressing and rounded it off with a perfectly cooked portion of wild salmon? A definite one to return to.
Terra Plata is one of my favorite restaurants, not only in Seattle but anywhere I have been. This latest meal there was to celebrate my engagement after my fiancee and I met at Terra Plata for our first date.
Tamara and her team are super kind and thoughtful.
The food is refined and divine. The wine list is pretty special too!
Back in May we celebrated my birthday there, and the staff added an extra touch by putting my name and birthday wishes on all the menus that day!
I cannot recommend Terra Plata enough.
Excellent service compensated for the lack luster food. They called ahead to check if this was a special occasion and customized the menus with a message. They also recommended that we try the roof seating which was nice of them. The menu had many vegetarian options and we tried a few of them. There were execution misses (shishito peppers could've used a few more grains of salt, the beets could've been sliced thinner and dressed better- big hunks on the plate was a bit unappetizing). Overall, seasoning was an issue across the dishes though the ingredients were fresh and interesting.
Again, service was very attentive but unobtrusive (the way it should be). Seating was cozy. Cocktails were hit or miss (decent sazerac, ok smoke & passion).
We might give this place another try if there are new options on the menu.
The food was delicious and well presented. The mussels were large, plump and flavorful in a subtle sofrito sauce. The fried chicken sandwich consisted of a large, juicy chicken breast with a very crispy crust on a nice role. The service was helpful and attentive. I will return!
Great for sharing small plates with a glass of wine or drinks. Very friendly staff. Street parking is pretty difficult but there is a public parking garage right across the street.
Food good but overpriced. Service a bit slow.
Really enjoyed this "neighborhood gem." Not only was the food interesting and delicious but the service was excellent (Craig and Jordan were standouts) and added to our experience. We will be back!
Lovely birthday dinner!
Amazing atmosphere, food and service! Super fresh and delicious food.
Always amazing! Personalized menu, amazing service, great food and patio!
Some friends and I went on Monday night because that's when they have a special paella menu that replaces their usual one. In the past the paella has had socarrat (a caramelized layer of rice on the bottom). They didn't develop that in the pan this night on either paella we had. Still, it was very good. We paired the paella with sangria rioja and all was fine.
Excellent service -- it no doubt helped that we were early. Tried both paellas and both were good. Seafood toppings quite good: mussels, shrimp, whitefish; chicken topping very succulent; sausage/chorizo rather mild. Rice not much saffron taste that we could tell, and no socarrat; really more of a tomato-based soft rice dish than a crusty paella, but it provided a satisfactory base for the toppings.
The food was terrific but it took over an hour to get our brunch order. Service was very spotty and inconsistent.
Excellent food- all dishes were great! Frites, tuna, octopus, tomatoes and black cod were all delicious and we’d order them again. Best meal we’ve had out in a while, and the rooftop ambience was perfect. Great evening!
Our server was terrible
I wanted to like Terra Plata but after our dining experience, I wouldn't recommend it. The waitress warned us that dishes would be served as they were ready but did not prepare us for how far apart they ended up coming. Two dishes came reasonably quickly but others took over an hour before they came and the rest of my party was already done with their food by the time my first item arrived. I had to remind the waitress about the side of broccoli & cauliflower I ordered as she thought all of our food had already arrived and it ended up coming over an hour after we had ordered and was cold. The flavors of the food were good but overall not worth the price tag. Great ambiance on the rooftop deck but I would not recommend to a friend.
Food is way too pricey!
Love the rooftop patio! The food is great too, all locally sourced so really fresh. Great ambience.
I never write reviews but i felt compelled to after our special anniversary date there. it was a pretty rough customer service experience. we had a reservation and arrived on time - the hostess was also seating and setting all the tables so it was impossible to even check in for probably 20 minutes- groups were just sitting there waiting to even tell them they had arrived. the staff themselves were nice and great but it seems so poorly ran . and so understaffed. everyone was working so hard but it seemed like they needed double staff to keep up with the packed house it was. it was like it was a surprise that they were busy although i doubt it was their first time they were super busy (this was a wednesday). overall we just kept having to laugh about how comical it became. they really need to staff more people because it really negatively impacted our experience for an otherwise good food good vibes place and I doubt we will go back.
They took very long to check us in. After we placed the order, even the bread with olive oil took a while to come out. The food took even longer, close to 40 mins or more. And it wasn't good.
Husband and I went before a show. Service was extremely slow and the busser kept bringing the wrong dishes to the wrong tables all around us. We asked for the bill and our dessert asap since we were in a hurry and they forgot about the dessert and made us late to our show.
Loved going for a small group reunion. Amazing food and a great rooftop!
Rooftop was terrific, even though we have lots of smoke right now. Beautiful summer evening with warm temps made a great atmosphere on top.
Went for Paella night and it was really good. The bottle of cava and tapas didn’t hurt either
Every dinner is a special occasion at Terra Plata. The food is always delicious, and the interesting flavors are exciting and fresh. Multiple individuals serve you -- whether pouring water, taking your order, delivering drinks, plates, or desserts -- and it is nearly always seamless. Even if one step of the process isn't "perfect," you quickly forget because the next step...and the one after that...is so special. Everyone who works there seems to be invested in your experience, and it helps to make the meal always one to remember (for all the right reasons)!
Delicious. Perfect. Excellent service!!! Would highly recommend for a taste of the Northwest.
Terra Plata offered exceptional food. It was interesting and full of flavor. My wife and I would go back many times for the food. We went for brunch and ordered the green chili pork, a gnocchi dish, and a cinnamon roll, and loved it all. We also enjoyed he ambiance inside; it was very cozy and inviting.
Service was... fine. When we booked, we were asked if we would be coming for a special occasion, which we were—our anniversary. A few days before our reservation they called to acknowledge our anniversary meal and asked if we’d like to sit on their rooftop patio, to which we excitedly agreed. When we arrived, however, we were seated inside. It took some time to actually seat us because the hostess told us the system was trying to seat us at a table that was already taken, even though there weren’t many patrons there at the time. We didn’t bother asking about it because we were hungry and just wanted to get to brunch! During our meal, they never said anything about our anniversary either. The whole thing was just a bit odd to us and a bit disorganized. We didn’t necessarily need any recognition for our special occasion, but since we were asked about it when we booked and received a call ahead of time about it, I think we just expected something different. At they very least, we expected to be seated on the rooftop patio as promised.
Anyways, the people we absolutely fine, but the process was a bit slow and disorganized.
