The Bank and Baron Pub
The Bank and Baron is located in the heart of Calgary's infamous Stephen Avenue, the pulse of downtown. This avenue was named after George Stephen, 1st Baron Mount Stephen. He was the financial genius behind the creation of the Canadian Pacific Railway, the President of the Bank of Montreal and is remembered as one of the greatest philanthropists of his time. In honor of the significant history Baron Mount Stephen imparted into the fostering of Calgary's culture , we have brewed The Bank & Baron P.U.B.
The Bank & Baron is a place where a Traditional Public Urban Bar taps into a historical avenue destination. Crafting any event from a momentous occasion to an exquisite celebration can be effortlessly drafted.

Great job in isolating patrons, food was good and service was excellent.
Just in for appetizers and drinks
During Covid it was very quiet. It’s an awesome building. The decor is fantastic. I’m sure when Covid is over, it would be a very spot. Great location on Stephen Avenue.
Great steak & frites, my steak was cooked perfectly.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Bank and Baron. The venue is beautiful, the food is superb and the service is excellent. We had the nacho's, the wings and the gyoza. They were all cooked to perfection. We had a fantastic meal, and look forward to going again.
Service was terrible. Hostess put in the wrong menu item. Not even so much as an apology. My girlfriend’s food finally came 20 minutes after they brought my meal. So much for a meal together. Food was mediocre at best. Only good thing about this place was the decor and ambiance.
As always great service good times had by all
Only reason we went to Bank & Baron was to sit upstairs. Was told rudely, that we couldn't. Food was very underwhelming
The Bank & Baron is an excellent after office hours stop for a great happy hour with happy hour food items that do not disappoint
Always a great place to stop by. $5 pints every day is tough to beat. Service is a little slow sometimes but other than that its a place I feel confident returning to
Elegant and sophisticated atmosphere with beautiful attention to detail. Service was friendly and very attentive. The mimosas were great and the food was fantastic. Ordered the lobster roll and eggs benedict - both were excellent sized portions, fresh and full of flavor. Would highly recommend this restaurant!
The building is amazing. The service was terrible and the food was not good. One in our party got food poising.
We were just glad to get out of there. The extremely loud music and booming base coloured our entire experience. We couldn’t talk comfortably across the table!!!
Excellent service! Point out Dhar our party of 5 arrived at different times and 2 were at a table at the back, 3 were seated at the front, and it took us 15-20 minutes before we realized that we’d all arrived but were seated separately.
Food was very delicious
Menu is small so easier to choose
Local beer on tap.
Relaxed, quite with good food
Excellent food & ambience
Underwhelming. When I was served my drink in a glass that looked like it was grabbed from the dirty dish pile, I left. Gross.
I’ll try it again another time bcs hey, stuff happens and the old bank part is really cool.
Fish & chips were blah. Too much batter and greasy and fish wasn’t fresh. Unfortunately, four at our table ordered the same. Slow service. Music too loud, although waitress had it turned down. I think it got turned up again a little later.
Went with a bunch of friends before a show at Theatre Calgary. I expected something entirely different. The service was ok - she was nice and accommodating- but the music was soooooo loud and the food fairly fair. Had never been there before but they advertise w Theatre Calgary. I wouldn’t go back- and neither would the 5 other people I was with. If you really just want to eat in a loud bar - it is fine but if you’re looking for anything else - more bistro or restaurant -like, this isn’t the place. At least it wasn’t for us.
Beautiful building; we love these older building being redone into modern. Great food.
The place is good overall, but I found it a bit overpriced. I also felt like we were forgotten by the server and my stake arrived barely warm
Music was too loud. Hard to have a conversation.
The pub is ok at night, but I would not recommend for Sunday Brunch. In -25 degree weather the staff was late and we were left waiting outside. The meal was not great at all, and breakfast is pretty hard to mess up. Disappointed for sure!
Everything was great - unfortunately our first drink request (strawberry lemonade) and meal request (fish) was unavailable on this date.
Cold by the door and they wouldn’t close, wines not available, beer was warm, they did try and the food was good but overall disappointing
We had a very enjoyable dinner and the service was excellent. Our server was very busy but attended to our table masterfully. And the beer was nice a frosty cold!
Food and service were excellent! Was not overly impressed at the reserved table at the door where we were seated.
Overall it was excellent, food was great, ambiance was good and we had a good time.
Only slight negative was the service. I want to preface and say that it was very busy on Friday Dec 13th and I know our waitress was rushing between tables, and doing her absolute best to make sure orders got into the kitchen. She was excellent in this regard and was very nice and positive. However, whenever she was at our table asking if everyone needed anything else, she had a habit of only listening to one person's order and then leaving. There were 6 people at our table and often she left in such a rush that the remaining 5 of us were not able to order additional drinks/ food. At one point while ordering additional drinks she turned around halfway through our table ordering and went to the bar, we had to call her back over as two people at our table still had not ordered food or drinks at this point (This was their second time trying to order with her). Understandably it was busy, and she was doing her absolute best and I commend her for staying positive and upbeat the whole time. But we would have ordered a lot more drinks or food had we been given the chance to.
Service was too slow. I had a double cheese burger and it was over cooked. The cheese was low quality and the mayo seemed to be under a heat lamp as the top was separating.
Great happy hour prices and service!
We stopped into the Bank and Baron before heading out to see A Christmas Carol. Service was great, we hit happy hour so value was awesome. The manager went the extra mile to make our evening awesome
They could have done so much more with this place. Still beautiful, but could have been amazing.
The food was very average, but the cocktails were very good.
Service was really good.
I'd certainly go again, but it would be for drinks and not the food.
We were seated at a table that looked hastily erected by the hostess stand by the stairs to the washroom. It felt like we were squeezed in, which was unfortunate because we had reservations. It felt more like we were being served in the entryway rather than the actual pub/restaurant.
1st time at the Bank and Baron Pub and everything was great. Service, food and ambiance.
The menu is not very big but has a very good selection of appetizers, salad, hand held and mains.
Timing of the food was not rushed so we were able to enjoy the appetizers and our beverages before the main course arrived.
Looking forward to our next visit.
Full place and not enough staff.
Our server was amazing! So many people came in-including large groups and the load on the staff was crazy! She handled it all way better than I would have expected! Good for business, but not sure it was the norm.
The servers were rude, we've been there for an hour an a half as we were waiting for our other friends and the girls kept looking at us and everytime we look there way they continue talking again
Had the fish and chips and the fish seemed a little undercooked.
The pizza and ribs were delicious. Great service. Inside was beautiful. Thanks for the enjoyable evening
One of the best on Stephen Ave. Always amazing service, great food and cheap beer!
