The Bank and Baron Pub
The Bank and Baron is located in the heart of Calgary's infamous Stephen Avenue, the pulse of downtown. This avenue was named after George Stephen, 1st Baron Mount Stephen. He was the financial genius behind the creation of the Canadian Pacific Railway, the President of the Bank of Montreal and is remembered as one of the greatest philanthropists of his time. In honor of the significant history Baron Mount Stephen imparted into the fostering of Calgary's culture , we have brewed The Bank & Baron P.U.B.
The Bank & Baron is a place where a Traditional Public Urban Bar taps into a historical avenue destination. Crafting any event from a momentous occasion to an exquisite celebration can be effortlessly drafted.

Good steak sandwich. Patio was a great spot to people watch and hang out with friends
We sat on the outdoor patio, very enjoyable. Service was excellent, would highly recommend the Chicken Mulligatawny soup.
Food and ambience were fantastic. I’ve had some pretty mediocre at best meals here in the past so was pleasantly surprised this round. Unfortunately, consistent with every prior experience I’ve had here, it was understaffed for lunch and service was rushed and impersonal. Still pretty pricey for what you get but all things considered it did it’s job this time around and if the right occasion comes up, I will probably be back.
The restaurant is gorgeous but the prices are high and portions small. They had no specials during the 10 days of the Stampede, except a $5 light beer. Yuck.
The staff was really great though and we enjoyed ourselves even after spending a small fortune.
The prices are really quite high compared to other places on Stephen ave.
Food was ‘OK’, service was iffy. Great happy hour pricing on chicken wings though. Nice table outside overlooking the busy and interesting street.
Happy Hour rocks. Food was good. Atmosphere was awesome. Our waitress was sloooow. Not the most attentive. I included $1 for a tip but honestly I feel I should not have even done that.
I was pleased that I could have a gluten-free burger, which I enjoyed.
My husband was disappointed that his steak was only warm.
The waiter apologized but did not offer any compensation.
Was disappointed that it was so noisy, we were a group of friends gathering together after many years of not seeing each other. The service and staff were great but it was too noisy to hear each other and there was no other space that they would let us sit in. Food was good
It was great. Our server was amazing and the food was delicious. We told her we had theatre tickets and she was very prompt and accommodating.
No service at all
Great atmosphere, good service, no complaints. The employees are very kind and welcoming. The interior of the restaurant is also very nice considering it used to be an old Scotiabank.
When we came in it was quite empty. We waited a very long time to put in a drink order, then waited a very long time for the drinks to arrive. Then we waited for a long time to have our order taken for food. Then we waited for well over an hour for the food to arrive. At this point it was starting to get busy. Our server did not offer us more drinks, we did ask another server, but overall most of us had one drink in around a three hour period. I asked for the burger to have extra crispy bacon (keeping in mind a burger and fries is $20, I don’t think this was unreasonable). When the food arrived, I specifically asked our server if the burger I was receiving was the one with crispy bacon. She paused for a second, then said it was. It wasn’t. That went to the person beside me. We switched and the food was excellent, around the table. I did mention it to her at the end of the meal, when we got the bills. She said it was the fault of the kitchen, as they had told her that. No apology. Overall, some of the worst service I have ever had in Calgary, but perhaps it was an off night. We would return for the food.
It was great, had a reservation for inside; managed though to scoop a table on the patio after I got checked in. Wonderful service, seemed to have a better turnover in tables outside on the patio than I thought there'd be. In the shade of the building at the supper time, still nice though with the warm weather finally. Had heaters set up on the patio but didn't need them while we were there.
We've been before and enjoy the ambiance and the food. Service was beyond abysmal this time. Like worst restaurant service ever. We watched our drink order sit at the bar for over 10 minutes before finally asking the host if he could grab them for us since our waitress was M.I.A. Our food was delivered by a busser - we still didn't have utensils or napkins. Waitress never checked back in with us after taking our orders. Waited over 10 minutes for pepper. Truly a terrible service experience.
Their poutine was okay fries gravy and cheese amazing , the additions not so great
We came here for poutine week and not only was the poutine amazing but so was the entire experience! Beautiful place to have lunch and the service was great! We will be back for sure!!
Food was great, service was very attentive and the building had a great atmosphere to it. Will definitely come back someday. A little noisy but not too surprising in an early Friday evening.
Great service and great food
Had a great evening. The waitress was friendly and service was perfect. The decor in this building is outstanding. Enjoyed the architecture complete with good food!
Place is nice to go with friends. Good food and awesome service! Keep it up!
Very good experience. Food was good, service was good ambience was good. It was a little dark for me, but I am older
Service was slow and not the most pro active which made lunch too long for a weekday; lunch deal was good value and good beer specials; soup was not great but beef dip was spot on.
Food was just ok, some options over priced for what you get
Went here for Valentine’s Day and couldn’t ask for a better restaurant to spend the evening. Such a stunning building and the food was amazing. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere neat to go out for a change. Amazing food and the service was pretty good.
Good service and food, a little pricy for what I would consider pub food
This place was great, great ambience and food. Gorgeous location and the drinks are also a good price. Love it! highly recommend.
A group of friend and I went our for dinner for my birthday, place was fantastic. Great food, awesome service, great prices for right downtown would be great for any night out !!
Very unique and interesting environment, big fan of the bank theme, will come again
The service was absolutely terrible. We talked with the manager about the service and he basically blew us off. The food was less than okay for the price.
Service was great (smile and quick, right order every time). Drinks were good- standard as well as hand crafted.
Food was so so...though chef entertained our special requests for garnishing. Dry ribs were pathetic, wings too dry, nacho were no better than just chips!!
Wouldn’t be my top pick!
Nice comfortable booths I could have say there all night!
A colleague and I hosted a client for lunch. When the client said he was in a rush, the server proceeded to put a rush on his meal, and only his meal. As opposed to rushing all three meals, the client's showed up 20 minutes before ours did. He was finished and gone before ours showed up. It took over an hour for our meals to show up. Disappointing. Server and the manager were oblivious to the delays. We watched other people get up and walk out as they were tired of waiting for their lunch.
The service was poor. It took almost an hour and a half to be served our meals at lunch. Once the lunches did arrive there was still one missing that then took another 15 min. No real apology and then an added 18% tip because we were a group over 8 people!
Out of towers , got there early . Very , very impressive interior followed by friendly service and good food . Great beer selection as well !
We had great service and food, we got there early enough to get a table on a Sunday dinner night, although didn't get too noisy or loud when it did get busy, however, the potential is there as it's all open area of course. It is a bit pricier then your normal fare but worth it once a while!
We were there for a stagette, about 25 of us. Great location, loved the look of the building. Food was good, but service was really slow and our waitress seemed overwhelmed (despite it not being very busy).
We had a great time. Am recommending this venue for an office team Christmas luncheon.
The service was very slow, especially considering how busy it was. The drink selection was fantastic and the staff were friendly once they finally stopped by. The curry bowl was average but the atmosphere was outstanding. Overall alright, but definitely too slow for a business lunch.
