The Beach House
Beach House’s food and drink menus take inspiration from all along the West Coast. Our rotating seafood-centric menu brings fresh, bright flavours and the most in-season local ingredients to the forefront of each dish. Taking particular influence from tours around Southern California, Culinary Development chefs David Wong and Hamid Salimian have thoughtfully blended West Coast dishes with the region’s prominent cultural cuisines. Together with our new extensive martini menu and a reinvigorated wine list that includes all of your favourites – plus an introduction to undiscovered gems – Beach House offers a West Coast experience that’s unlike any other.
It was extremely noisy in the restaurant - difficult to have a conversation. Service was not great - we never got a knife that was requested, milk and sugar for coffee took a long time to come and we eventually borrowed from another table.
Excellent service and excellent food! We have been going to the Beach House for many years. The renovations are tastefully done.
Thought it was a little strange that the wine we ordered came not in a bottle but a carafe. Is it on tap? Usually we get proof of what we ordered by seeing the bottle unless it is the house wine. Should have asked at the time but didn't.
The Beach House is like home to us. Our experience was outstanding - familiar and cosy atmosphere (love the changes but not over the top) and the waitstaff is always friendly and helpful. Great menu too! We had the mussels and lobster rolls - outstanding!
What a wonderful dining experience. The staff was pleasant, the ambience wondeful and the food...outstanding. The mussels were to die for! Definitely will be going there often!
The new space is very impressive! We were there for Sunday Brunch and had the crab benny and then shared the apple and pear galette. Our meal was excellent! Our server, Blake, was charming and attentive. Highly recommend a visit!
So, I heard from a friend that when they went to the newly renovated Beach House, they were not impressed. We decided to try it for ourselves and make our own assessment. Have to say it is fantastic! Went for Sunday brunch, the front desk was excellent as was the service. I ordered the Dockside Burger and totally loved it. The wine prices are very reasonable and their variety is large. The view is spectacular and the ambiance is fresh and clean. My only issue, and it is a minor one, is that in the booths the table width is too large and your guest is too far away. This makes a difference in a noisy environment. Other than that it was excellent and we will definitely be back!
Everything was good, our waitress was amazing , food was really good and the renovation turned out well . BUT the noise level and acoustics was terrible, if felt as though the interior designer completely forgot to anticipate the effect of so many hard surfaces and the public. Really too bad because overall its a beautiful location, they did a great looking revamp of the deck and space visually. But the noise level was catastrophic, all the table around us were irritated and even heard a server discussing not being able to hear her customer ... The noise ruined a rather special birthday get together ... Shame , The Beach House is an important institution in West Van...
We had a great evening at the New Beach House. The staff bent over backwards to make sure we had a great evening for my friends birthday! The service was excellent. This is a very new restaurant so they have a few bugs to work on . The food was good but a few items were only ok. The grilled calamari was dry and tasteless. The chorizo and tomato compote that accompanied the calamari was delicious! The chicken wings are fantastic . The Steaks were inconsistently cooked. Two out of 4 were perfect, the other 2 had to be sent back and re-cooked so we had 2 out of 6 people eating after all of us had finished our meals.
The desert was amazing, molten chocolate cake with ice-cream! I will continue to go to The Beach house at least twice a month as I love it and will definitely give it tons of opportunity to knock my socks off! I love the atmosphere, super friendly and lots of fun energy!
This Saturday night was a celebration and date night combined. My partner and I enjoyed a truly fabulous everning, great food, andgreat service!
The renovated Beach House fell short of our expectations. The menu is more limited and expensive, and the expanded capacity has resulted in a loss of warmth/intimacy as well as a huge increase in ambient noise levels. We literally felt deaf and hoarse after two hours in the main seating area.
The food and service were fine, and the Beach House hostesses and server staff all acknowledged the restaurant's noise levels are really unacceptable. We've been going to the establishment since it was Peppi's in the late 70's/early 80's, so our loyalty is not in question...but we will now opt for warmer, quieter alternatives in West Van whenever older members of our family are joining us for dinner!
Have a seasonal menu, current menu is more suited to summer.
We sat in the corner by the windows, it was very cold - so not ideal to sit during winter.
Given the prices the menu could be nicer, more elegant.
Overall ambience was ok, it wasnt very cosy considering its winter.
Service was excellent, friendly and welcoming.
Will only be back in the summer months to benefit from the patio and menu selection.
All very good except the noise level is most definitely not acceptable..
probably good for the young people but for the older ones too loud.
The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive, funny. When he got busy, other servers helped out, we probably met 4-5 servers. We were never without. The seafood tower was excellent! We thought it would be a great appetizer shared by 4 of us, but at the end it enough for supper. A light supper. We are definitely coming back again. Very pleased.
Noise was overwhelming. Server informed us they have slot of feedback about that and intend to address it
We have always enjoyed dining there but recently would prefer dining in the summer on the patio.
Curtains on the windows will absorb a lot of the noise.
Beautiful renovation. The staff were excellent and the food was great.

Appetizer came with McDonalds like fries Main dish fish was horribly overcooked.
Acoustics were unbearable from the moment I walked in. I will not go back until it is fixed. I had to resort to sign language to communicate to my friend directly across from me and my throat was raw by the end of the night from shouting. Some carpet and acoustic ceiling tiles are required. So unfortunate as I really loved the beach house and want to support a local enterprise that does a great job supporting its community.
The noise was a real issue. It never was that bad before the reno.
Was Not a big fan of menu selection. Also very noisy.

Made reservations for my birthday for my husband and my parents. Had to wait 25 minutes before being seated which I find unacceptable with a reservation. They told me they were sorry but they had overbooked. When we were seated they placed us by the bar and the noise level was absolutely unacceptable. There was a table of drunk women beside us and they were screaming. My mother ordered medium steak and it came blood rare. It had to be returned and by the time she got a new steak we had already finished our meals. They tried to compensate by giving her a free glass of wine while we were eating. It’s difficult for all of us to get together and when we do it’s always for a special occasion and this experience totally tainted my birthday celebration. We will not be returning.

I do hope they will fix the problem with the noise level. We could hardly understand each other across the table. It is very very noisy and on top of that they play music. The bathroom was a quiet haven!

The food was great. The location fabulous. It was, however, a bit noisy with the open bar.

The renovations are tasteful but there has been no consideration of acoustic baffling which results in the patrons having to largely lip read their companions.

The vegetable presentation with the fish dish I ordered was poor. Otherwise the meal was fine.

Food was fantastic. Execution was terrible. That said the staff did try their best and were very helpful in the end. We would be willing to try again. I think.
Made a reservation a week in advance. Received a phone call later in the week indicating that we would be seated at a high top in lounge. I explained to the person on phone that this would not work. Was assured that a table in dining room would be ready for us. Upon arrival we were escorted to - a high top in lounge that could barely fit three people let alone four. Not even enough chairs so one of us had to just stand there while they hunted for a chair. Explained to manager that this was unacceptable and to her credit she made things work so we could move to dining room in time for our starter after finishing a cocky.
We split a seafood tower. It arrived and was dropped off. Not a single plate to be found. It took almost five minutes for someone to notice us. Frustrating start to evening!
Then we are interrupted mid first course by the lounge server who asked us to settle up her bar tab. It made for a very awkward exchange in front of our guests and was incredibly rude and lacking of any form of etiquette. So out come wallets to pay our first bill and then continued dining. Poor guest experience.
Food was great. Great menu. However the quality of service was poor. Very new staff who simply do not have fine dining training. Felt like being at Cactus Club or any other casual joint. Lots to improve. To credit staff they did work hard to try and make things right.
New space is beautiful. Really nice atmosphere.

Fabulous location! Excellent service! The food was really very good and tasted fresh. The lobster roll is to die for. The martini was yummy but pricey. We thought we were ordering a bottle of wine but it came in a carafe which made us feel like we’d order the house wine and we hadn’t. We had planned to take some home but couldn’t because we didn’t have the bottle.
We had made a reservation 2 weeks before so I was expecting a table by the window or a booth. Unfortunately we were sat at neither. However, we will go back because it’s so close to where we live and ask for a window or booth when I make the reservation.

Our first time at the newly renovated Beach House with its new menu. I held back from giving an Outstanding rating for a couple of reasons. First, I haven't tried some of the other menu items which I hope to do next time. What we had was very good and included the Lobster and Crab flatbread and two pastas, the prawn, scallop and pesto, and the short rib pappardelle. Service was good, although the restaurant is still working out some minor bugs to keep it smooth. The fellow who brought our entrees didn't seem to be sure if they were for us or not. The only other quibble we had was that because the renovation replaced some carpeting with tile, opened up the space, and removed much of the hardwood and cushioned surfaces, the noise level has increased...a lot. In any case, still a very good meal and we look forward to going back soon. And, at some point when the weather improves, trying out that awesome new patio seating.

In One Word. " Disappointing" In the past, prior to the renovation, we went to the Beach House at least once sometimes, twice a month. And loved it. All Year Long. So, you can imagine our disappointment when we went last Saturday - Noise Level was significantly Higher - Happy Hour Menu was an " Insult" other than the $9 wine. Choices were small, especially compared to the Cactus Club and Earls - I ordered the Seafood Chowder - which was Amazing - However, I wanted a simple piece or two of bread to dip into the chowder and it arrived " After I was finished". The Tacos were mild and boring, The wings were Awful, The Flatbread was OK. Again, a wholly disappointing experience - And Whats with the " Greeter". Your demographics are focused much older - keep that stuff for the Millenials. We won't be back anytime soon. We would rather walk the seawall and enjoy the beach and 'EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE". VERY SAD. Management at The Beach House has clearly set the bar for both service and good quality very high and am happy to say they’re efforts so far are paying off BIG TIME!!! Both service and food deserve 5 STARS (out of FIVE) and the renovations achieved their purpose providing better views, a more contemporary yet warm ambiance and comfortable seating in an environment conducive to guest interaction and privacy when wished for. Without question West Vancouver’s nicest restaurant, The Beach House is the place for a both fun and a romantic evening. Can’t wait to go back!
