The Beach House
Beach House’s food and drink menus take inspiration from all along the West Coast. Our rotating seafood-centric menu brings fresh, bright flavours and the most in-season local ingredients to the forefront of each dish. Taking particular influence from tours around Southern California, Culinary Development chefs David Wong and Hamid Salimian have thoughtfully blended West Coast dishes with the region’s prominent cultural cuisines. Together with our new extensive martini menu and a reinvigorated wine list that includes all of your favourites – plus an introduction to undiscovered gems – Beach House offers a West Coast experience that’s unlike any other.
We arrived for our 7:00 reservation and were told that the people at the table they had for us were having coffee. At 7:15 we asked again and they said they would ask them to leave. We were finally seated at 7:30. By 8:30 we had seen our server only once, to order cocktails. We finally ordered our food after asking the manager. Our food came out after another lengthy wait, and it was not acceptable. Halibut special ($38) overcooked and dry. Steak Frite overcooked, Burger cold... just absolutely terrible. I will not be going back and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

When I ordered pinto gresio i did not expect it to be so expensive after I asked about the house white.
my husband and I went for lunch the week before and it was fabulous. We took my in-laws to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday and it was good but not as good as the week before. We were seated on the lower level and many people were on the patio so the door was opened a lot, which was gave us a very cool breeze every time. Some just stood with the door open talking, making us very chilly. Food was good, not great this time. Maybe because it was a busy Friday afternoon. I mentioned when I made my reservation that this was a birthday celebration an I thought it would at least be mentioned but it wasn't. Will we go back, absolutely, just not as quickly as before

The food was very good. The server was just ok, really. The table beside us had one, very loud, child. I’m sure our next dining experience will be much better (as long as we get a different server ;)

. Ordered three appetizers. Two were good. Third was wrong order. Replacement took forever to arrive so cancelled it on arrival as it was too late to enjoy.

Our first visit in 2 years and we really looked forward to it. Menu was surprisingly sparse and disappointing offering a poor selection of appetizers limited mains and no starter salads!
We were sat quickly at a great table but took forever just to simply order our first drink. There were good wines by the glass for my wife. I ordered a grey goose martini and when it finally arrived it was undrinkable. I sent it back immediately and the server showed up 15 minutes later with a replacement. It was also undrinkable and left it.
Our server dropped off the food and never returned to check on us, so we finished our dinners with no drinks or water and sat for over 30 mins while our server simply ignored us.
Given the high costs of the mains, great location and fresh renovations, we naturally expected better menu selections and service levels. The dismissive attitude and lack of attention from our server, combined with no drinks, unfortunately ruined our evening.
The manager visited us when we asked for our bill. He made sure we were aware of how he was not charging us for the martini like he was doing us a favour. Never again...
The food was good however the service was not. We waited 10 minutes to be greeted at our table. We actually had to find a waiter. It’s was a family members 40th birthday and we ordered 2 desserts only 1 arrived and they didn’t make any suggestions for a replacement. We did speak to the manager and they did apologize and tried to make up to us. I was just disappointed as I mentioned a couple of times that it was a 40th Birthday celebration.
We usually rate our experience at the Beach House as 5 STARS across the board. This is our favourite restaurant on the North Shore that we frequent often. Unfortunately our experience on February 15th (our Valentine celebration) was a 3 1/2 stars.
To begin with our table was near the kitchen and when the doors opened and closed, the fluorescent light was very disturbing as well as the noise factor. More disturbing was a water serving table right next to my shoulder!!
The hostess did make a note to bring this to management attention. There was not a table available to move to and our first 2 drinks were compted which was appreciated, however, it did not make up for the situation.
We ordered the fabulous fucacchia bread to start, and we were brought broken toasted garlic bread. When we complained,we were told they were out of fucacchia bread. This was 7:30pm on a Saturday? And why bring us something we didn't order without an explanation?
Our steaks were good, however, they were not as fabulous as other times. We have been spoiled ... the Beach House steaks have been the best we have had and wrote previous reviews to attest to this.
Our service was okay; a little disjointed vs our usual fine dining experience. Our server was very pleasant however.
To be clear, we believe this will be a "one of" because all our previous experiences were excellent and 5 stars. Our intention in writing this review is for management awareness. A simple fix? Remove the water table and put an attractive small divider in place of the table for noise and light reduction.

We were seated upstairs - it is a little plain and could use something to add to the decor.
Regarding the food: the catch of the day was sold out and it was only 6:30 pm - unacceptable! We ordered the mussels and they did not have the right bread available for it. I ordered the Cobb salad - there was no blue cheese and no hint of dressing! So basically they need to have someone organize supplies better and someone check what comes out of the kitchen! On the upside, the mussels were cooked in the most amazing broth and the baked Alaska dessert was delicious.

I would like to say that I really wanted to love the experience, but unfortunately it fell flat for me. Typically, we would go to the Beach House for special occasions 3-4/yr and it was our first time back after the renovations. The renovations are beautiful and the atmosphere is still very inviting (albeit loud), the view is amazing, and I would say that staff was friendly. I would give those 3 things a 4/5-star rating. The food, on the other hand, was very average as was the technical part of the service. Because a server had placed their tray of dirty glasses on our reserved table while they spoke with their own table of patrons, the hostess sat us in another section of the restaurant, which was fine, except that it was another 10 minutes before our server seemed to come on shift (we were sat at 5pm) and noticed we were in their section. When it was time to order, I asked for the 'catch of the day' which was sold out already which would have been good to know prior to looking over the menu for 15 minutes. We ordered the maui-maui & prawn appetizer, the beyond burger, and the tomato pasta. The appetizer was plated like a full meal (i.e. fish and chips) and we were expecting more of a seared, upscale appy minus the C-Lovers variation. The fish of the appy was average at best and was just salty without much taste. It was also overwhelming as an appetizer. I felt like I had eaten a full meal, both from a visual and taste bud perspective, which wasn't exactly what I had in mind since we had ordered 2 main courses. My pasta was good although I would have enjoyed more of a light tomato sauce versus the pesto. The beyond burger was flat, the bun was dry and the toppings were bland and non-existent. The side of chowder was too sweet which didn't balance out the sweetness of the brioche bun of the burger. Overall, we won't be going back anytime soon. If the Beach house is still the 'test kitchen' for Earl's its probable should stick to what is tried and true.

Nice location nice View customer service is not bad is normal menu it was poor it wasn't like strong and more options was limited and the price so expensive compared to food compared to other restaurant like else clean restaurant

Celebrated with family my 50th birthday. It was fun as everything were so nice- from food to the services and ambience. Love the beach and the surrounding area. We enjoyed strolling around after lunch. Will go back again definitely.

The renos are great! Open aired, light colours, very attractive. The food is worst than previous. My husband ordered a salad that included a grilled filet of salmon but they forgot to put the salmon on the salad!!! It took another 6-10 minutes to get the filet. The restaurant did not charge us for this meal which was appropriate. I had the sushi roll which I remembered as very good but it was a complete, watery disappointment! I asked for low sodium soy sauce which they did not have ….really?? Will not go there anytime soon.

The Beach House is now owned by Earl's and quite frankly, Earl's in Ambleside is better in every way. Service, food, value and atmosphere. Our dishes were overly salty. Server was friendly. No thank you on the way out the door, even though both hostesses were not busy and just standing there talking to each other.
I had requested through OpenTable something special for Valentine's Day. I indicated the reservation was for a date and I even wrote in the text box that something for Valentine's, like a special treat or dessert would be good. However, nothing was offered or mentioned to me. Why ask if the restaurant can't deliver??
Overall, it was a very meh experience and we won't be back.

I think you should add a candle to the table. Just a little dark as I noticed a number of people using cell phone flashlights to read the menu. Other than that a very nice experience!

Enjoyed this newly renovated dinning experience. Nice that there were non-seafood options even though it's more of a seafood based restaurant now. Food was delicious. Decor and atmosphere was lovely. Can't wait to try the patio on a sunny day!
Excellent time! The view, service and ambiance are outstanding.
Very nice meal just didn’t like the post right at my elbow at the table we were given. Food was a bit slow to arrive and portion was a bit on the small side and I am not a big eater!
We enjoyed brunch which was very tasty, the server was very pleasant and efficient.
It has been recently renovated and of course the view was spectacular on a sunny morning.
We had Saturday Brunch for three, which was delicious, in a beautiful setting, with excellent service by our server Jessica. Would definitely have brunch in this location again, especially with the excellent service.

The Reno looks great. We loved the visit for our first year Valentines Day dinner. Thank You for the attention when we needed it and the alone time when it was appropriate.
My companions main was mediocre. Although apologetic, our server did not offer to exchange for new main or do anything to add value to experience. She left quite a lot of pasta and declined to take remainder up so lack of follow up was unprofessional.
I generally go for lunch and it's good.
We usually recommend it because of the view and the food and service in the past were good.
This is the 1st time we have been to dinner since the remodel. The dinner menu is miniscule and certainly lacking, basically steak or seafood (and the only good item there is the sablefish), not even a side or Caesar salad.
The wine list is expensive and we had heard that from a few friends before we went.
Our waiter was very pleasant and professional.
The remodel is nice.
3rd visit. Food mediocre. We always enjoyed Beach House before. On our first visit we thought it was growing pains but last visit was the same.
Great spot for weekend brunch, if you get there early there's is a happy hour until 11 am for brunch menu.

Had an amazing dinner here a few nights ago! The new renovations look amazing. Ordered the octopus appetizer, rib eye entree and sablefish entree. Easily the best sablefish I’ve ever had. Our server was so friendly and attentive. Will be coming back soon!
Possibly one of the worst meals I can remember. The food was so salty it overpowered everything else. My two dining partners also complained about the amount of salt. One, who had sable fish, remarked about it to the waitress. Two of us had steak & frites. One expects salt on the frites but these were almost inedible, and the steak seemed to have an over abundance of salty seasoning. I can’t believe that any kitchen manager who cares about his work would let these be served.
