The Beach House
With a sophisticated dining room, heated beachside patio, vibrant lounge and private terraced room, each environment offers something unique for guests visiting this idyllic location. Whether it is time spent in the spring and summer on the beachside patio with spectacular views of Burrard Inlet or storm watching through the fall and winter from the comfort of your oceanfront table, this is a restaurant for any season.
Salad special disappointing. Beet/chicken salad outstanding.
Halibut and chips - Halibut excellent. Fries - pathetic
Since you asked. The crab benny was disappointing. Noy enough crab to make it worthwhile. Hollandaise sauce lacked flavour and just enough to cover eggs but not enough to feel generous. Will come back whenthe reno is done but no more enggs benny for me.
It's closing for a few months.......food is always good. Service was okay..nice guy but too busy. No lights at or above our table so we used our phones to read the menu. Not horrible but when you're paying significant prices, you want all the amenities.
Probably not. Unbelievable noise level, server almost had to put her head on the table to take our order. The appetizers (calamari and shrimp) were very good....expensive but you get large portions for sharing. The rest of our food was ok, but I think overpriced, as is the wine list. I doubt that we would return.
We held our Book Club at the Beach House as last minute I could not host at home. I phoned ahead and pre-order 6 share plates and asked to have the table ready with water poured and food on the table for 7:30. When I arrived at 7:25, the table was all ready to go and at 7:30 sharp the food appeared and wine poured. We had a quiet and cozy table allowing for a great discussion with good food and fine wine. Thank you to Marshall and his team for executing a perfect evening
The location and views can't be beat. The staff were friendly and courteous, but could do with more training... eg: mains were delivered before starters were cleared; cutlery was not replenished without asking after first course.
If you are looking for a good run of the mill menu, this fits the bill. There is nothing on the menu that is 'wow' factor, but the food was fresh, plentiful and presented well.
We would go back more often if the menus had a revamp and the staff upped their game. Otherwise, it's a great spot for a once in a while get together.
Food was good. Service was terrible.
some major problems in the kitchen led to a 15 min. delay in food arriving at the table - by which I mean 4 people had their food but the 5th person had to wait 15mins more for theirs. Having waited that time, of course, the other four diners' food was cold. We were comped the fifth dish but it didn't make up for a sub-par experience. Creme brulee was off because "the torch had broken yesterday". All in all a bit Fawlty Towers.
Prices are reflective of a high end restaurant, service is more like a pub.
While the food was very good in taste I left hungry. I just felt like the portions were not very generous.
Enjoyable evening celebrating the engagement of our niece to her Australian boy friend. Our waitress was delightful having spent time in Melbourne herself.
Disappointing brunch food - too many hashbrowns & nothing green with the Virginia ham Benedict.
Perfect - great food value and service - Oliver
Amazing gluten free fish and chips - always done to perfection!
Took the wife here for her birthday, great food and good wine, service was marvellous, had a really good time.
Have been here before and will again.
So disappointed to see our favourite wine ($65) in the liquor store was $170 on the menu. There were five of us so we had two bottles and had to pick something else. We understand that liquor is expensive but that made our patronage feel unappreciated. We had awesome service and wanted to give Samantha a great tip to reflect that...which we did. However, it was disappointing not to be able to enjoy the wine we wanted with our meal.
From Reception through to great service from Sabour and excellent food in a warm, friendly, classy environment, will be returning soon.
Great...as always! We hope after renos the seating will be just as comfortable. The view you can't improve!!
Fabulous location. Great food and excellent service.
We ordered eggs Benedict and once again, it arrived cold - not really even luke warm. Everything - the eggs, the potatoes, all of it. This is not the first time we have had this experience and from what we could observe, everyone else's was the same temperature. It really is a shame as the restaurant is very nice and the staff work hard. Perhaps warming the plates and employing a few more food runners is the answer. I am not a restauranteur, but we dine out often and know what proper dining should look like. Seems to me like an easy fix.
I was disappointed to find the restaurant still cannot make a decaffeinated latte or cappuccino/
Love the Beachhouse. We hope that the upcoming reno preserves the warm feeling. We already have an Earls if we want to go to that type of restaurant. Thx
Starting with the absence of hosts at the entrance, it was a disappointing dining experience. The service staff were not efficient overall.
I was given a quite badly stained coffee mug for my tea, which the waitress did change but without any apologies.
Despite not being too busy, it was really noisy.
The food was not bad, yet nothing special.
The only good part was of course the view.
We sat in one of the booths and our server was quite good, but there was a party of people sat at a big table down the room - at least 8 to 10 people and they were all trying to speak at once. The noise level was just too much. I am hoping when the new renovations are completed, that the seating of parties of people can be in a slightly different area to those who want to enjoy a nice meal and be able to chat to each other without having to shout to be heard. My appetizer was amazing, the meal itself was O.K. but nothing special.
Very difficult to have a conversation because of the noise level. I have yet to find a quiet seat where you can have a conversation without shouting
I choose this restaurant base on good reviews from Open Table, honestly I didn’t feel it at all. First, looking for high chair was a big issue all night, we have 2 little kids but we were given only one high chair all night and had the second high chair almost at the end of our dinner. Second, they don’t clean up our table often enough, servers were trying to put our main courses on the table with empty plates from our appetizers all over on the table, excuse me, this is very basic service but obviously they were not up to standard, we had to tell them to clean first then place main course to us, otherwise It had no space and so messy. For food, it’s also not as good as we expected. Parmesan fries wasn’t fresh and very salty. Steak was over cooked, we had to wait for another 20 minutes for them to cook another piece steak for us, they offered the steak is on the house but this really a turn off. Overall, good reviews I got weren’t how I feel the same. Service and food standard has lots room to improve. But to be fair, our main server was good but he was looking after many tables so he couldn’t focus better to each customer, the poor service was from whoever helped him.
Good experience but nothing special.
We arrived and were seated and then told we had 1.5 hours to eat our meal and get out because they had double booked the restaurant. Since we had no where else to go, we hurried through our meal and visit as requested and got out. Never been treated like that before.
Christmas staff dinner last weekend. Comfortable, good service, tasty food. 1/9 meals was served late so it was taken off the bill, as it should be. Appreciated that. Very noisy so not so good for large group conversations.
will be back!
The setting is unparalleled, but the food was average, and the service was 'confused' at best. We had three different wait staff vying for our order, and yet they never seemed to get it sorted between them. Not only was this annoying, but as a result, attention to detail was not on the menu. The shrimp appetizer was a half dozen shrimp that appeared to come from a Costco shrimp ring. These six shrimp came with enough cocktail sauce for the entire ring - we couldn't stop laughing. A wasteful serving to say the least. The halibut and chips were average - C-Lovers is better. For a restaurant that should pride itself on fresh seafood, and charges plenty for such dishes, why would the only option be farmed salmon? The owner needs to re-evaluate whether they want to be run-of-the-mill and hope to survive due to the location and setting, or aspire to stand out in a city that prides itself on inventive, fresh, and impeccably served meals. I was certainly underwhelmed... J.C.
Been here a number times love the food the location and the service. The only issue this time is the noise level the choice you provide on this survey is "energetic" for noise level. Unfortunately it was too loud for us to carry on a conversation. I hope this gets addressed with the renovation. Thank you
Awesome ambiance and views. Food and service was great
Lovely restaurant on the water with lovely views. There is a diverse and interesting menu. Some great choices and fairly good pricing. Friendly and efficient service and not a rushed feeling.
Unfortunately our evening to celebrate our daughter’s birthday was ruined by a very large, incredibly rude and noisy group seated less than a foot away from us. We could not hear each other talk and had to yell. Each time our very kind, friendly waitress came anywhere near our table, someone from this large party would physically intercept her with a poke or pull or verbally demand something from her. I understand the need for large groups but as there is not a private area on the main floor, perhaps the two booths adjacent to this area should not be booked when large groups are booked into this space. It ruined our evening and I will seriously have to consider going to the Beach House again. Also the 2.5x mark-up on wine is very excessive!!!
The service (day manager Max and our server Veronica) was excellent and the staff’s attention to detail helped make it a special and memorable family birthday celebration. Our drinks and food selections were also delicious. Thanks for a lovely evening!
It was so noisy you could hardly talk, the waiter failed to tell me how spicy my lunch would be, and never refilled our coffee. Left us alone as we were 5 elderly women with no alchol and probably poor tip[pers.
Great place for brunch for $10 .Food very good.
Worth every penny.Great environment with ocean views.
We were seated at a nice table for lunch with my husband’s mother. Our three food choices all were excellent. I chose the winter seafood salad, which was wonderful because the potato pieces and the seafood were hot. My mother-in-law’s scallop risotto was equally delicious and not starchy. My husband ordered the chowder and the ever popular dynamite roll. Both dishes were predictably good. We opted to share the molten chocolate cake dessert and and it was the perfect finale.
I would also like to add that we are hoping the upcoming renovations of the restaurant will address the noise factor. It was almost impossible to hear our own party’s conversation.
Our server Laura was so wonderfully friendly and attentive. She gave us service that was smooth and seamless, right down to refilling my hot water and gauging when we might be wanting the dessert menu or just the bill.
CHANGE YOUR MENU ALREADY... ITS BEEN WHAT, 10 YEARS?
15 minutes for someone to first visit our table with only 4 other tables seated. 40 minutes before we had our first drinks. The staff was very friendly, but painfully slow and inattentive given how empty the restaurant was.
