Order the bison rib eye!
The Bison is a fantastic dinner spot in Banff. It was wonderful & refreshing to enjoy a delicious meal that was not made in a chain restaurant, fast food, or hotel. Delicious, local, seasonal. Great atmosphere. I jsur wish I had remembered to order the burrata!
What a wonderful evening at this beautiful and welcoming place! LOVED it!
Delicious food and great service. Definitely get a reservation, it fills up fast.
Delicious meal, great service. The main course was much better than the desserts.
Essen sehr gut. Service OK, sehr auf Routine. Raum viel zu kalt.
Great service from Braeden and Jesse. Food was excellent and good wine list. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend.
The view was spectacular and our hostess and server was very nice. I ordered the Salmon. The portion size was rediculously small for the price, but delicious and my boyfriend ordered the short ribs, again pricey, but not so flavorful. All in all, probably won’t return, but the view was stunning!
Such a great night! Outstanding food (get the bison trio!), superb service & great open atmosphere! When in Banff, eat here!
Went here for a bachelorette dinner and it was amazing! Food was incredible, drinks were delicious, and everyone was very pleased with the whole experience.
Delicious food. Interesting and unique combination of flavors. Fun to watch the kitchen staff at work while dining.
Very good but also very expensive. Ordered a bottle of the Vineland Cabernet Franc, great wine but priced at $60 and retails at the winery for $16. I’m accustomed to double by not more than triple the price of the wine. Restaurants like this one are making it very difficult for me to justify buying wine with dinner. The lamb was excellent the strip loin very good. The scallops were a tad overdone. The service was very good. Since the renos ambiance has significantly improved. Good value for a date or get together with friends.
Excellent dining experience. Neil is an excellent waiter with great recommend dations and the food was amazing. The Bison Ribeye was outstanding as was the Lamb chops. The dumpling appetizers stole the show though. Would definitely return.
The lamp is excellent, but bison is not so good.
My wife and I were honeymooning in Banff when we visited The Bison Restaurant. We currently live in Chicago and The Bison rivals any steakhouse or fine dining restaurant here. I ordered the Bison Ribeye at medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. The meat was seasoned perfectly and the sides were all delicious. My wife ordered the Alberta Beef tenderloin at medium and it was also cooked to perfection. Similar to the ribeye it was seasoned perfectly and all of the sides were delicious. The Bison was our favorite restaurant of the entire trip. I would recommend a meal at The Bison for anyone planning a trip to Banff.
Service is EXCELLENT and I love the rib eye steak!!! It is really worthy to pay for it.
I was traveling solo, and was looking for a quieter, less "tourist trap" place in Banff to have a nice meal - The Bison (upstairs) was perfect for this. I ended up eating here multiple times during my trip. The bison short ribs are a must-order!
We picked this restaurant because it was one of the highest rated in Banff and it certainly lived up to the reviews! The appetizers, main courses, and desserts were all delicious and we appreciated the locally sourced cuisine. The service was outstanding! Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Banff.
The bison rib eye was amazing
The best part of our meals were the salads and veggies served with our entrees. The meats should have been the star but were overcooked and a bit gristley.
I must say that it has been one of my best meals ever. I had the dumplings (which were really gnocchi’s) and the bison WOW delicious!!!! Definitely recommend this place if you are staying or passing by Banff!
The three of us ordered a bunch of appetizers, all of which were complex and incredible. The atmosphere was lively but not too loud, with a clean open aesthetic. Highly recommended.
I have been to the Bison a few times now. Most recently, my experience wasn't pleasurable. They are under similar managment as far as I know, but during a renovation in 2017, most of the chefs quit and never came back. This forced a change in their menu and it was noticed on a few of the dishes. They have removed their flagship dishes such as pulled elk poutine, bison tongue , and their pork chop.
I had the bison short ribs which also changed dramatically. The flavor was lacking, the accompaniments were weak, and there was about a teaspoon worth of charred embers in my dish that made it inedible.
In saying that, the appetizers that the 8 of us had were all amazing, and we would rate them 5/5. The main courses were a 2 or 3 out of 5. I believe that if they take some of the feedback from customers, they can make some well needed changes and get back to being an excellent meal. The problem I have now is that the menu and execution of main dishes has taken a hit, yet their reviews haven't. I am putting honesty here for the next person. I would recommend buying some appetizers that are well priced, and avoiding the mains until something changes.
Bison is an amazing restaurant. Our server was 10/10, the wait time on food was spot on and everything was lovely.
The only reason I cannot give it a 100% review is due to the very low vegetarian options. Under "mains" the only vegetarian dish was cauliflower. It came out more like a shareable dish, a big bowl of cauliflower. I was left feeling pretty dissatisfied, I think my only other option would have been a pear pizza....
Apart from this we still had an amazing experience and my parents from out of town loved it!!
Until the vegetarian options are updated I sadly don't think I will be back though :(
Amazing tasting food, great service, nice atmosphere, trendy
We had a delightful meal of Bison short ribs and a great beet salad. The wine was great and we sat by the window watching the Aspen trees shimmer in the breeze. We'll go back!
Enjoyed a lovely dinner even with two-year-old in tow.
Loved the food, atmosphere and service. The bison was outstanding. Juicy, tender and delicious!
This restaurant is INCREDIBLE! Loved that they use local sources products and the food was amazing. Sitting on the patio with a view of the mountains was a great way to have dinner. 100% recommend to anyone visiting Banff.
Had a selection of starters and small plates which were all amazing. This is our second time here and we had to have the cauliflower again! A bit noisy - we had to shout.
Delicious bison, great ambiance & service - overall very nice experience for our first evening in Banff. Thank
Some of the best meat I have ever eaten. Bison rib eye and venison strip loin were both incredible.
One word: Great!
We had a wonderful experience at the Bison. Every aspect of our evening was lovely - the food, the wine, the service and the space! I would for sure recommend The Bison to anyone!
Came recommended and did not disappoint. The design of the place is great with the open kitchen and multiple windows. The food was well portioned and excellent quality
Expérience extraordinaire ! Magnifique salle à manger et un repas de bison mémorable! Je recommande fortement
We wanted to have a special dinner with local food ingredients and it was totally worth it. The service was outstanding and the food super delicious... we had the bison plate for two.
Bision Ribeye was incredible 👏
Amazing food sourced from the area. Our server was great, managed our dietary restrictions and suggested a great wine to accompany our meal. Great views, amazing food! The price tag is quite high, but absolutely worth every penny.
