Have visited many times and the fish quality has gone down hill. I was also overcharged as I ordered the "house" red wine and I just read that this is a scam they frequently use on tourists. Well, I am a local, and I will not be going back ! Too bad, as we did enjoy it here while it lasted.
We were sitting in dining area overlooking the ocean there was a cold breeze blowing through restaurant which was not very comfortable
Great table, view, server and food!
Cool spot very basic food
Great experience. We had a last minute reservation for a table of 8 and we got a warm welcome, great service (thanks Rob) and they easily accommodated our GF and DF friend. We will be back!!!
Great oysters! Mediocre ahi tuna.
I was disappointed in the food tonight, I’ve been there in the past and it was so much better. Location is still great. Basically that was the only good thing.
Food was ok- but not worth the price. The view is the best part of this location.
This place has so much potential. The service is good enough but the food is below expectations. The calamari dish is awful. The halibut dish was over cooked. Fixed the quality of the food and would recommend this restaurant.
Lovely window seat, great service by Lois, and really enjoyed our lunch. Great place to bring tourists as it really shows how pretty our coast is.
Maybe. My husband ordered the Blackened Chicken Burger, but he did not want the bun. He got a plate with fries, salad and a piece of chicken breast which was a little pathetic, so thin and did not even look like blackened chicken. Little disappointing.
The service and atmosphere was very good as usual. Its too bad the food does not live up to that. My fish and chips were soggy.
Service was good and on point , got us in early and seated which was nice. Moderately pricey but comes with a great view of the ocean.
Perfect place, perfect service, perfect food!!There is nothing to complain about it.
We enjoyed a lovely evening celebrating Valentine's Day. The restaurant was quieter than usual, the view of the beach was beautiful and we were seated at a great location.
Servers were very pleasant and food arrived in good time.
We enjoyed our evening at The Boathouse. We had a lovely waitress. She was from Ireland and made our visit even more enjoyable.
it was wonderful experience that was worth for it
Very nice location but dissatisfied with our meals. Salmon was blah. Stuffed pasta was okay but nothing spectacular. We did enjoy the crab cakes, they were pretty good. Probably won’t go back. Felt like we way over paid for our meals.
We love going to the Boathouse in Kits because it has one of the best views in the city.
However, we had a number of appetizers and have to say the cesear salad was a huge disappointment. honestly, I think the prep for that was 30 seconds.
We waited for the server, and waited, and waited, and then just gave up even thinking of having dessert or a coffee because we were under a tight time frame to get to the NHL hockey game.
As a Landry’s Select member we got to enjoy our birthday reward and took advantage of this opportunity to enjoy a dinner date night without crossing the border. It was easy to book on Open Table and we were treated well from the moment we arrived.
Great location and views and friendly staff! Moderate value for the price. Beer and Alcohol overpriced.
Our server was so great. It was a slower night, which was nice for us to stay long and enjoy. She had great recommendations and was very friendly.
Came on a Friday evening during Dine Out 2020. Place was quiet. Maybe the heavy rains rain had something to do with it. Couldn’t see any view in the downpour! Food was good, except they brought me a sirloin when I had upgraded to the lamb shank. But they were very quick to correct it and overall I was happy with the food, service and the value.
Great service and food. Like the ambience at the Kitsilano boathouse even in the rain
Neither my host nor I are likely to ever return to this restaurant.
The host was a foghorn and, by the time he got to our table, we had heard his 2-3 minute long loyalty program membership pitch twice already, from the neighbouring tables. We were treated like a captive audience, and then the loyalty membership pitch began for us - we weren't asked if we wanted hear it, he just launched into it. He was far too loud and all about himself (an aspiring actor, he said. Too much projection, we said). My friend and I were trying to catch up with each other, yet the waiter continually interrupted. "If the referee is doing his job, you should never know he's on the ice."
That said, The Boathouse is seeming positioned near the top of dining experiences, or should be, and yet the cheesy "get 10% off" pitch just undermined all of that. My host recovered the 10% by reducing the tip to a lower value, mostly because when paying, his options for a tip were 15%, 18%, and other so he had to work to express his dissatisfaction by going down the 'other' path.
And here is the killer, TASTE is SUBJECTIVE. I really don't care what the host's personal favourite is, or what they recommend. It's MY taste I'm trying to satisfy, yet never did the host ask what I liked, except when I declared to place my order.
For context, my host and I have each traveled extensively on business for decades. We are both accustomed to eating at finer restaurants, and also know when to draw a line. Not again.
Daniella was our server and she was very attentive to my mother and I. We went for the Vancouver Dineout deal and she treated us very well. She noticed my mom was taking a bit longer on her appetizer and asked if she could put her main under the heat lamp. A gesture we have never come to experience in other restaurants. My mother enjoyed their bread which Daniella told us is made in-house. When asked if we could take home the leftover loaf-she went the extra mile to not only pack it but gave us fresh of the oven loaves (4) of the bread. Restaurant bread is not something we appreciate other than what is most of the time used for-a filler while we wait for the main meal. Not in this case, the bread was good enough for us to ask. She really enjoyed it the next morning and she did not give us any attitude which is also appreciated. Like the location and ambiance. For the first time-diner, please be aware the parking is not right next door to the main building so don't be put off by it. Parked at the parking lot of the beach, pay for the parking and short walk to the restaurant.
Very noisy in main part of restaurant so we sat in bar area which was quiet. However we either roasted under heater or froze when it was turned off. Otherwise great evening.
Lacklustre service (didn’t ask how our food was, if we needed anything, etc) Waited long for food. Food was unseasoned or over seasoned.
Entree brought out prematurely. Quality of food good.
It wasn’t the best day to be there, and the glass window we sat next to the glass was dirty. So it just doesn’t seem comfy and clean.
We order a eggs Benedict on crab cake. I was so disappointed the crab cake was filled mostly with breadcrumbs, we paid the most I have ever paid for a bent and so dissapointing, the salad was without any dressing and it was my partners birthday, it was not acknowledged at all. The waiter was kind. The meal was very mediocre. With such a view you can do so much better
It was a dark, cold and stormy night. We sat by the window and were lightly warmed by space heaters, treated to a rainy view of the habour night, with ship lights outlining their form. The food was fabulous and bountiful; seafood, pasta, desserts. The price was right too. With a generous tip, only $120 for two people. It was a pleasant dining experience.
Difficult for a handicap person as there is no parking on site. Service was slow despite not being less than half full on a Monday evening. Steak was a bit tough, even though the server recommended & said it would be fine to have it well done as I don’t like pink inside
Our server was phenomenal! I wish I could remember his name. They really worked as a team and took care of us though it was very busy. They were accommodating with substitutions even though it was a dine out. The lighting and noise level was perfect and the view is definitely one to write home about. Will go again
Amazing meal, excellent service, incredible restaurant.
Great ocean views but the food is average but very pricey. My husband ordered a steak and added a lobster tail at "market price." Market price turned out to be $45 for 2 small tails. Ouch! Service was fine.
Was a delicious brunch - particularly the smoked salmon egg dish, we had a sunny winter day with few venturing out due to the weather. Best service & atmosphere with roaring fire
Great job, we treated our friends & they had never been before & were very impressed
The seasoning on my steak was too salty. It tasted like I was getting intermittent chunks of rock salt with random bites. My dinner date is a big fan of salt and she, too, found her steak to be too salty.
The vegetables were not stellar... the carrots were barely cooked and the brussel sprouts were over-roasted. Hard carrots & brussel sprouts of any sort are NOT something I expected (nor ate more than a bite of) at a restaurant the calibre of the Boathouse.
It’s a nice place to get family and friends to be together. Plenty of space with beautiful beach view. Maybe because of the season, only a few people were there for dinner when we were there. The service was good and the waitress even gave us a special treat for my sister’s birthday; however, the food was not good as what we expected.
Overpriced for the quality of food you get. The presentation looked cheap.
