The Boathouse at Kits Beach is an awesome restaurant. It brings our West Coast lifestyle to your dinner table. This time we had a visitor from Sendai Japan joining us who loved the location, the ambiance and of course, the service (Marita) and the food and wine.
A great location for my family and our guest, a senior, who loved the location and the care given to her and us, in general. Thanks Boathouse staff - and esp. to our server - whose name I have forgotten, but who was exceptional. Please look her up from our meal on Sunday night (table of 5 and one senior with a walker) and commend her for a job well done.
Service was top notch! Seating was awkward as it felt we were having dinner with 2 other families. Food was excellent. Had the filet mignon and the potatoes were amazing. It was very loud but overall a great time.
Very noisy place, Friday night, maybe other days better. Food so so, nothing special, would not go back. Cafeteria quality
great location and great idea to give a reduced starter to Bard goers
Will come again next year and probably before
It's very nice view. The steak and the lobster deal is really good 👍🏻and it tastes great 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Service was poor, generally inattentive. Dirty appetizer plates remained on the table until after our departure. Had to refill our own wine glasses and never got asked if we wanted dessert. Empty dinner plates only picked up when we finally decided to request the check so we could leave. Week night birthday celebration where the food was okay but where the staff made it not worthwhile.
Salmon was over cooked and dry
Consistently great food.
Enjoyable dining experience
We are regulars but our request for an outside table was not acknowledged, even though we included our request in the open table notes section. We live in Kits and come all year round - not just in the good weather.
Gorgeous sunset on a warm summer night on the patio overlooking Pacific Ocean and kitsilano beach with steak & lobster!
Such a lovely place. Great food and great sunsets each time I’ve been there.
We were seated at the patio. Great seevice, very attentive waiter and excellent food. Looking forward already to our next visit!
Food and drinks are overpriced for what you get both in terms of quality and quantity - the location and view are the main reason to go there and why you pay more.
Service was fine and so was the food (although again, overpriced!) but the kitchen messed up our order, then took forever to send the right dish. The manager addressed this by giving us a generous discount on our bill, but when there’s four of you and it’s a special occasion, it’s not the bill that counts but the overall experience. In this case, it really fell short of expectations.
Fantastic view, delicious food, always reliable. Washrooms on a busy night can get very messy
Our server was attentive, kind, and pleasant. Everything came on time. I even got a special birthday cake slice. The view by the window is stunning! The ahi tuna was delicious and plentiful.
The waiter was very good. View was spectacular. Menu offerings were varied, but the menu card itself was bland (suggest add colour e.g. light green for the salad section, red for the meat and seafood section, etc.
Very nice view and amazing seafood chowder. Mocha ice cream pie is always my favorite too.
I made reservations for a window seat and notified in advance there will be a stroller but was not provided. Hostess was very unhelpful and unwelcoming. When we arrived, we were ushered to the patio. I asked for a window seat and not patio. We were then left standing wondering what is going to happen when the waitress went off. I saw her later on standing and chatting with someone else. Then, some tables were rearranged for us at the last minute. It was still not a window seat and we had to awkwardly maneuver our stroller. I there was a table available two tables over but that was reserved already and the party was late. We were on time and our table wasn't ready. Why? Thankfully the waitress was delightful and made up for the awkward and frustrating beginning of our evening there.
We had an amazing table with a wonderful view. The food was great and the server was efficient but unobtrusive
All items on my plate tasted the same and were cooked in sesame oil. Huge spiderwebs above all tables were disgusting and windows dirty. Service wS slow and would not recommend.
Stunning views and exceptional staff.
I had a mix feeling about the staffs there. The receptionist was blank face and appeared lethargic but the initial server as well as the late server were friendly. The food, in general, was ok. The best about this restaurant was the view overlooking English Bay.
Friendly environment and waitress
Poor quality and quantity of food and drinks
Noisy place for communication
Trouble to find parking
We loved our evening at The Boathouse in Kitsilano. The server was attentive but not too much so. We felt relaxed and enjoyed every part of our meal. The only thing that would have made it even a little more special would have been a complimentary dessert as we had let them know we were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. Overall, though, we would highly recommend this restaurant to friends and family. Thanks so much.
Beautiful restaurant with great food. I definitely recommend this restaurant
Friendly waiter. Tasty, fresh seafood: crab, oysters, tuna. Variety of appetizers.
The location is amazing especially in the evening, we got seated on the patio. We had to go find a server, no one even acknowledged us after we were seated. We were early for our reservation and we told them we'd wait if it would be an issue - they had seated us anyway. Our server seemed very nice/pleasant but totally distracted, we weren't offered bread, we sat with empty plates both after our main and dessert. Other guests were offered blankets (different server), we were not. I advised her we were done (finishing drinks) and she left the plates and came back 5 minutes later again at which point I had to specifically ask for the bill. Calamari was good, pasta was great, huge portion - so was the Grilled Tuna. Hubby had the Mixed Grill, it was underwhelming and he ended up needing to eat half of mine. Desserts were HUGE (best part of the meal). Overall - our server didn't live up to our expectations, some of the food was better value than others and the location was the best part.
Had a wonderful lovely evening and would definitely come back. The food was fantastic and the ambiance was very enjoyable. The view of Kits beach is amazing. Would highly recommend.
High value for med level of food. Great patio deck overseeing kits beach. $9+ for a draft beer!!
The staff and service were excellent. Our server was friendly and very efficient. Our dinners were a disappointment. We ordered the maple salmon on a plank with roasted potatoes and vegetables. The salmon was good but the dinner was totally spoiled by the roast potatoes which looked and tasted liked day old potatoes which had been reheated. $34.00 was far too much to pay for a meal like this.
Always get a good meal and a fun meal ..great service and great view!!
Great location and view. The food was good and came quite quickly.
We have eaten at The Boathouse many times in the past. The ambience is great, right on the boardwalk at Kits Beach. Unfortunately, when there on Monday for dinner the service was very slow and the food was not impressive. We waited a very lengthy time to order drinks, then longer to order food. After we finally ordered the food came reasonably quickly, but the fish and chips were very overcooked, and the chicken sandwich was cold. We can not fairly recommend this to others for anything besides the ambience after our latest experience. Very disappointing and we will not likely be back.
Nice view, too bad about the food. This restaurant provides seriously mediocre food in a great location with views of the beach, and easy walking distance to Granville Island.
We had out of town visitors. What a way to show them Vancouver. View, food and service were all top notch!
Never had this kind of unprofessional service and management
Would I come back? for the view-Yes, for the food-No.
The view was beautiful but the food was lacking. Also we ordered drinks (after the server said we had to wait to order) and they arrived moments before dinner...for the price I would have expected more. I have several things but most disappointing was the salad. At $16 it was all lettuce and nothing special.
Gluten free options were great - chef was very accommodating
