Great place to eat. The food was very good. I had the Halibut and my wife had the Seafood variety entre. We had a seat by the window, which was great from a view perspective, however, it was a little hot given the sun was shining in on us.

The view and location are superb. The food is mediocre at best. With these prices, it should feel like they are at least making an effort. The chop hop salad at $ 24 was really sad. I get that we are paying for the view, but bad food is bad food.

We come here every year during our visit to Vancouver. The Boathouse is right on Kits Beach, so the views are great. The service is super and the selection of fish is just what we like - salmon, halibut, and swordfish. Of course there also is a nice steak filet option. Pricey, but we keep coming back.

I don’t know why I keep thinking the service will get better. They clearly feel that they can rely on the location. 15 minutes until someone came by to give us water. Almost an hour for appetizers. Two tables that sat after us received drinks and food before we even got our appetizers. It took me 10 minutes to waive down our server for a second glass of wine. They weren’t busy. The food is fine, the service was awful. I guess it’s my own fault for continuing to go. I would not recommend.

Beach view and service were both very good - but food was just okay. We had steaks and have had better.
And I had a curry dish that was bland.

Food was good. Service was poor we had to bring it to the waiters attention we been waiting for over 20-25 minutes for service. We had 3-4 different serving us - Once they served the food no one ever came back to see if we would like anything ells or everything is okay -

The Boathouse has always been what I expected. Great food, friendly service, always good times with good company. This time, however, the restaurant did not meet my expectations. I booked a table for 2 at the Kits location, with a special request for patio seating. I timed my reservation so my partner and I could enjoy our wine and meal while the sun set. When I arrived, the hosts were not aware of my special request, and had to wait for a table to free up on the patio. No big deal - we posted up in the lounge, started with a couple of drinks, and not before long, our table was ready. However, we were seated in the back corner of the patio, with obstruction of the view, and slowly watch the sun pass behind the obstruction, completely missing the sunset. There were clearly other unoccupied tables that had a much better view of the full sunset. I didn't bother asking to be reseated - didn't want to be "that guy".

The waiter did not bring any bread to the table and he did not ask or offer the bread. We had to ask for it when we saw someone else get bread brought to their table.

Our meal was adequate at best. Of greater concern, items that had not been ordered were added to our bill. While this may have been an honest mistake, it happens too frequently to believe it is not intentional in some cases.

Views are amazing and watching a sunset on a summer night can’t be beat. Unfortunately the server dumped the water all over, soaking my son. Then forgot to bring my coffee. The Caesar salad did not have much flavour. But the fish was good and the meal deal for extra $10 got us a salad and dessert.

The food was very tasty and fresh. The fresh sheet was very good, and the menu had plenty to choose from. Yummy appetizers and drinks, and the $10 meal add-on was a great value.

We had a relative visiting from Ontario and chose the Boathouse for a family get-together. Everyone enjoyed their meals, the conversation, and the incredible views of the beach and the city were such a bonus. The service was excellent and the food delicious. I would definitely recommend the Boathouse to my friends.

The Boathouse at Kits Beach is so excellent! The Hostesses are friendly, professional and fun. Our server Keith was knowledgeable and entertaining. The Kitchen Team were fast and efficient, and took care to ensure my dish was not exposed to allergens.
We had a wonderful meal and the entres were presented beautifully and prepared to perfection! My out of town guests were very impressed. Great location to have dinner before attending a Bard on the Beach show! Only 12 minutes walk to the tent from the Boathouse. Reservations are recommended.

Staff was very accommodating because we had a new born and needed a place to place our stroller.
Our waiter was very friendly and checked up on us from time to time to make sure we were enjoying our Father’s Day dinner and some staff congratulated us on our new baby.

Went to Boathouse in Kits and we had ordered the New York Steak as well Sirloin steak with stuffed shrimp. The stuffed shrimp with the crab meat was good however my Sirloin steak was okay, it wasn't very flavourful. My husband ordered the New York Steak and asked for "Medium Rare" and when he was about to it eat it was good well done. The server had asked him "Oh, would you like a new one?"

Overall experience was alright food wasn't that great though.

I have been a repeat customer of The Boathouse for many years and usually bring out of town guests to dinner there. Unfortunately, this experience was less that satisfactory. Our server forgot several drinks, one of our party ordered a Caesar salad starter which never came and then the other four main courses came, he was still without his starter or his main. The server was unaware of this until we waved her over to see where his food was. She apologized and said it would be out soon. She came over again five minutes later and there was still no food. The salad had been given to another table... the server then offered him a chowder to which we replied that we wanted the salad and main that had been ordered. Finally it came, when the rest of the party had finished their meals. The icing on the cake, however, was when the guest in question asked to see the dessert menu to see what was offered with the 3 course promo he had chosen. He didn't particularly feel like either of the two options so asked if it would be possible to substitute a brownie instead (all the same price). He was told "no substitutions" by the server. After all the confusion and delay in food they couldn't make an exception which would have appeased everyone. We paid, and on the way out I stopped to talk to a manager about our disappointing experience. They were very apologetic and offered to buy him a brownie next time he was in, but as he's from Ireland I don't expect him to be making that journey. This won't stop me from returning and the food is delicious, it's just unfortunate that our guests didn't experience The Boathouse as we have in the past.

We had read the mixed reviews but loved the photos and location so made reservations. The Pacific Halibut was amazing! The salmon was overcooked and dry. We had a new waitress who was just lovely but who made a few errors (only caught one of the three appetizers our group ordered, didn't want to tell the kitchen to hold the dinners to accommodate the other 2 etc). I would try it again, especially to have the halibut my sister ordered. The views at sunset were worth it.

For a seafood restaurant I was so disappointed to receive the worst fish I’ve ever ordered at a restaurant. Also lacks any type of ambience, the view is great but you can also get that by just being downstairs at the actual beach. Reminded me of white spot but double the price, and actual worst food.

We did not enjoy the meal as much as the view. I get the sense the view is the real draw to this place. Might go back for an appy and a beverage as the staff, ambiance and the view are great - but there are lots of other options around town with spectacular views.

Not a place for foodies but reasonable fare with a beautiful view. If the food was exceptional, I expect the length of the reservation list would be equally exceptional.

45 minutes to get a drink and 2:15 total for a single course meal. The restaurant was only about 1/4 full. Not ideal with a 10-week old baby.
