We had dinner at The Boathouse Kits Beach to celebrate my father's birthday and it was a very nice dining experience. I ordered the mixed seafood grill, which was excellent in terms of portion and value. Our server was attentive and checked in on us more than once even though he had several other tables. For once, I felt like the tip I provided was well-deserved. It was early September and the sun set while we were at dinner. The restaurant's sunset views are really impressive. We knew from prior experience that the restaurant does not have air conditioning, so something for other diners to keep in mind when booking in the summer -- it can be hot in the restaurant in the middle of the summer.

The view is great and the food was good. It took a long, long time to even get coffee. The food took almost an hour. The service was sub par. The bill when it came was wrong. She said she was busy but when we sat down there were very few tables full.

While I love the view and ambiance of this place, I was dismayed that I had to stare at two dirty tables with no guests for the whole of my dinner. This while watching servers with time on their hands and the restaurant was not full. The food was good, but I felt the serving was a bit lackadaisical and better management would be in order.

I should have paid attention to some of the other reviewers who pointed out the quality of the food had gone downhill. They were right. While it is in a beautiful setting, with lovely views, that was about all that was positive. The staff were very slow, not genuine or attentive, and I did notice when I went to the bathroom that they were all hanging out chatting b y the kitchen. The food was just bad. Not fresh, or flavorful. Maybe we just ordered the worst things, but that is a bad excuse. The food did not even look good on the plate. Basically cafeteria food. Even Ikea food looks and tastes better, honestly. This place needs a wake up call. It could be amazing with better quality food going out of the kitchen.

From the moment I arrived, I felt very welcome, and all the people at the restaurant were very nice. The menu is very well-balanced, and they have excellent dishes, but the best thing is that every dish that arrives at your table is a real delight. So my congratulations to the Chef and the entire crew of this restaurant. Highly recommended

View was spectacular and that's why I choose it in the first place. Service was very good! Food was just ok. Drinks were terrible. Very watered down. Bathrooms were disgusting. Got worse over the 2.5 hours we were there. That is not acceptable.

The view is great, the service is good but the food is bad. How can they mess up a grilled salmon burger and fries? It feels like the salmon and the fries had been prepared before and just reheated in a microwave before being served on a cold bun with one slice of tomatoes and one of onion. We don't go for the food, we go for the view to impress our out-of-town visitors but I do not enjoy being treated as a tourist. I think they should work on the food to encourage the locals to come back. It is a great location that deserved a great simple affordable cooking. I am thinking about the Cactus Club Cafe on English Bay. Something like that. I would only recommend The Boathouse if you have visitors. And then go for the salad.

The service was very slow, and food and drinks came out at all different times. Some of our party arrived late and ordered after the rest of us, but received their food and even finished eating before the first-ordered round of food arrived. Drinks also took a very long time to arrive and in some cases arrived after food even when ordered at the same time. The food was also subpar. One of our group ordered a seared Ahi tuna which arrived so overcooked that the food runner thought it was a striploin. After we brought the issue up with our server, it was sent back and replaced but that person then had to sit and wait while the rest of us ate (those of us who hadn't already received and eaten our food, that is). The rest of the food was just overpriced for mediocre quality. I believe our server did take one cocktail off the bill to compensate for the issue with the tuna. Overall this was a very disappointing experience and I will not be going back.

The service was beyond slow the staff spent most of their time talking to each other. The food was awful the salmon was cold, the chowder had little to no flavour. It’s a beautiful spot that I think they count on to bring in customers at the expense of the food

We were treating friends from California who wanted good seafood. The Boathouse at Kilts Beach was perfect. We had a wide range of seafood: mussels, salmon, halibut, ahi and chowder. Every meal was outstanding. Our waitress was efficient and attentive along with a great personality. To top it all off, the location couldn't be better.

can't beat the view if you can get on the beach facing patio. The brussel sprouts appetizer was excellent as was the seafood chowder. A bit concerning to see the water damage in the entrance way but hopefully they can get that taken care of soon.

Ladies lunch for 4, not picky people, just happy to be together and catch up. Hot day, given water at start and no refills all through the meal - finally went to the servers station to ask. No wait staff check in through the meal so had to chase down another wait staff for a wet wipe (the Korean chicken sandwich is delicious but incredibly sticky). Noise level on patio such that we had to lean across table often to hear each other. Menu reduced and prices raised, as with so many places now - new reality - not arguing with that, just sad that my long-time favorite coconut shrimp is no longer on the menu. Think will give a pass for a while.

Really bad service. They forgot my beer and I had to remind them. We got our entrees and they forgot to bring our starters. The waitress apologized and offered to comp one starter but it was too late. The fish was overdone and dry. I had been there many times before and they were always good. Good food and service. But I don’t know what’s happened. It’s gone down.

Lovely view of beach especially to see sunset. That's about it. Never experienced horrible service: I used to Manage hospitality industry F&B and coach customer service so this is based on fair evaluation. ①Server not know menu ② only took first round of drink order ③ 2/4 main entree over cooked, dry fish and cold. Sent back since not able to chew. Server bring menu but never came back to take different order. Everyone finish eating while waited 20~30mins to place replacement order after asking two other servers to help. ④No floor manager followed up or apologize to attend table. ⑤Incorrect bill (over charged) etc...more Clearly stated at time of reservation that celebration dinner with a special guest, and reminded at check in. Not even words...
