We've eaten at the Brick in the past, mainly for lunch. On those occasions it was fine. This dinner was very disappointing. The server tried his best but was obviously untrained and inexperienced. One guest ordered a glass of cabernet, and said it tasted like the bottle had been opened for several days. He drank it anyway and ordered another but asked for it to come from a new bottle. The server then said the original bottle had been open for two or three days. (At least he was honest.) food was just okay. Crab cakes are a featured item on the menu, but they were out. When serving the entrée, the waiter brought the meals on a big tray but had forgotten to clear the appetizer dishes, so he had to do both at the same time while balancing the tray. A near disaster. We won't be going back anytime soon.

Our dinner was a nice, relaxing, family dinner. Our server was very attentive, and our meals were very good. We did not want to be rushed, and were able to take our time to enjoy a pre-dinner drink with appetizers, then our soup/salad course, and a full dinner. The price was a little higher, but not outrageous. We would definitely go back.

Made a reservation for Mother's Day through OpenTable for 1:00 (first available time). The restaurant called the week before to say that they didn't have a reservation available for 12:30. I stated I knew that because I reserved through OpenTable. That's why I actually booked for 1:00, as the suggested next available time. They said that OpenTable reservations don't come through right to them. I was then asked for a credit card to hold the table. I obliged and gave it to them. I got there for the 1:00 reservation. We were not seated until 1:20 and told our server would be right over to take drink orders and explain the buffet. No server ever came to the table, so, after 15 minutes, we left. Can't comment on food. We didn't stay long enough. However, if what we experienced in the time it took to get seated and have a server say hello to us was any indication, I'm not sure I'd have anything positive to say. I wanted this to be a good experience, but it wasn't. And, on Mother's Day...disappointing.

The service was the worst I have ever experienced. We were not told our brunch options, the waiter was completely not prepared - he didn't know the options- water was spilled on the seat of one of our chairs, I saw him drop a breakfast at the next table, our table was never cleared, we were ignored and the gratuity price was fixed. Our waiter did nothing to earn that tip. It was Mothers Day Brunch. The menu online looked good. The reservations were made at least a month out and yet we were called three times ahead to confirm with a credit card or our table would be given away. There were no flowers on the table nor a candle. Nothing hung on the walls to make the room feel warm. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. We will never go back. It was such a disappointment for a special occasion.

My wedding day was this past Saturday, held at the Brick Hotel. It was the most wonderful day, and the Brick Hotel staff helped it be so special and memorable. From Tammy, the event planner, who worked closely with me making sure my ideas were executed, to the owner who was so supportive of my requests, to the amazing wait staff who handled the service perfectly, to the food (all hot and cold appetizers) which were fabulous, I can't thank you enough. The rave reviews from all who attended have been amazing. This is the most perfect setting for an intimate, charming occasion and I encourage (and highly recommend) anyone thinking of having an elegant, tasteful, and beautiful event to visit the Brick Hotel and see for yourself. The guests also loved the in town location so they could stroll around post reception and continue the party. The weather was amazing, so guests were able to sit at their outside tables in the garden, and enjoy the sunroom tables surrounding the room. Thank you to everyone at the Brick Hotel for making my wedding day so amazingly special.

I knew it was a risky dinner proposition when we were able to get reservations for 6 people the night before New Year's Eve but tried it anyway. It literally took only a few minutes to begin the horrible experience. NO BAR TENDER ON NEW YEAR'S EVE! What were these people thinking? The young man serving us both at the bar and our table was at least trying hard and very apologetic but obviously inexperienced. Simply put, when one goes to a restaurant like the Brick Hotel and pays the kind of prices for food, they expect and deserve experienced and professional staff. We dine out in Newtown almost every week and won't be going back to the Brick Hotel anytime soon... AGAIN!

We went to the Brick for New Years Eve. It took the waitress 30 minutes to take our food order. We stopped another waiter an asked him to take our order. Our waitress began arguing with him right in front of us. It took over an hour for us to get our entrées. When we needed refills for our drinks our waitress was nowhere to be found. All of the people around us were complaining. Several people left before getting there meals. The food was delicious but not worth the wait.

We had dinner on a Saturday night and were extremely disappointed. The service was atrocious, food was cold and tasteless. To get bread, I had to go into the kitchen myself and find the manager to convince him to serve us a basket of bread because our waitress told us that they recently stopped serving bread as a policy. I can easily say that I will never go back even though the bar and overall ambiance look very appealing. It was a complete waste of time and money.

The food in the chafing dishes wasn't very hot. The prime rib was very very fatty. It took quite a while for the omelet. The desserts were very good. I keep giving The Brick Hotel another chance, but I think this was the last time. They've run out of chances.

Arrived Saturday 7pm, except for two parties there were three couples in the dinning area. Asked for diet soda received regular. Requested by name a wine. Found out that it wasn't carried. Not told of this. Ordered steaks one rare one pink. Both arrived over cooked. But my wife is not one to ever return any meal for any reason. She has this idea that staff would do something to her plate. But we eat them , over cooked and all. Not bad great flavor . No bread. And never asked if we wished coffee or after dinner drink. Had to ask for check which was. Almost 100 without tip. Will I ever return. No. Sorry to say this but it is the truth. Chuck Lindsay

The food was very good, a little pricey though. We had to ask another server to get bread as the other tables had theirs and we're getting their second. The steak was good and did not need anything, but I asked for steak sauce just to see what they had. It look like dollar store sauces! Not what you would expect for a restaurant where the average meal was $30. The place needs a facelift it looks run down. There was only 4 other couples there having dinner on a Saturday night at 7pm.

We hadn't been to the Brick Hotel in a long time. We felt like whoever owns it gave up on the place. It's got a bit of a musty smell. However, we decided to give it a try for Fathers Day Brunch. The food was very good, especially the roasted rosemary/thyme Chicken. They had a nice variety of dishes. I thought a larger selection of eggs beyond scrambled and quiche would have been nice. Maybe some breakfast sausage too. A list of additional egg items was available on the table for ordering, but we were charged an additional $15 each for a cheese omelet (which was very good) and an order of eggs benedict. That was on top of the $34.95pp. Our waitress was very sweet. Our view on the front porch was very pleasant and relaxing, however, it was very warm with no A/C and only small fans overhead. I wish someone would bring this place back to the greatness it had 15-20 years ago. I think the property and location is a true gem. Newtown resident.

Took Mom to brunch for her 83rd, as always a lovely time had by all. We have dined here many times over the years for special occasions, (live out of area), and would be regulars if we lived closer! The brunch is varied and beautifully presented, in a country garden-like setting if you sit out on the porch or outside.

Brick hotel is a fixture in Newtown and as a resident I want to live it. They have consistently let me down. Easter brunch was no exception. Had a reservation but still waited 30 minutes at the reception desk. Eventually we were seated at a table that was empty the entire time we were waiting. Reception staff could not get it together to handle a full book of reservations. Food was ok. Just ok. Not worth $50 pp. our poor waitress was the only bright spot and all she did was bring us water and bus our table.

Ate there for Thanksgiving - a limited menu with just 4 entree choices- so you would expect the food to be edible - since the kitchen is only preparing a few dishes! But our food was cold. Prime rib was rubber. Turkey tasted like it was prepared days in advance then reheated. Service was disorganized. Place is run down - duct tape all over the carpet. Floor had not been vaccumed. Just all around gross. Oh - and they charged outrageous prices for that experience-$200 for 3 adults each had one cocktail

We've lived in Newtown for nearly 20 years and mostly enjoyed our experiences at The Brick, but I must say our recent Thanksgiving Dinner there was sad. The Hostess seemed like she didn't want to be there, the wait staff seemed the same way, the meal was expensive, minimal and cheap cruise-ship quality. We heard multiple other patrons complain. We were disappointed in the meal and then Angered by the automatic gratuity added for our table of three. Also they advertised a pre-fixe feast and then didn't offer it once we were there, and the items on the a la carte menu displayed in their Thanksgiving advertising that drew us to the restaurant were absent from the menu !

I want to like this restaurant. But my last 3 visits have been disappointing. On thanksgiving, the buffet meats were cold ( turkey, prime rib). The prime rib was not only cold but overcooked and dry. The quality vs. price paid equation does not add up. It is expensive for the quality of the food (poor to fair at best).

Luckily this was one of the only restaurants in the area that I could get a reservation for 4 at 6:30 PM and it worked out perfectly. The food was great, we got a wonderful table of our choice and due to it not being crowded - we could have conversation without yelling. I would recommend diners thinking about going here. The food was good, the drinks were great and service was excellent.

We had a very nice experience at the brick hotel this past weekend. Our server was attentive and personal able. We each had a martini and they were a nice size and spot on. Our salads were the star- we both got the pear salad and we've never had such fresh, crisp bib lettuce and fruit, out before. The dressing was perfect. I got the salmon entree- delicious- the option to swap out vegetable and potato with other menu entrees was a plus. My husband got the crab cake entree. We can't wait to go back!
