The Capital Grille - Troy
My husbands birthday dinner. We arrived earlier than our reservations but were treated very graciously. When we were seated the table had confetti and rose petals and a card ( much to our surprise)! Waiter was knowledgeable, professional and explained the wine options. We opted fo the generous pour and loved it. Duckhorn Decoy was among the pours. Great value and wine was great. Dinner salads were fresh and large. Entrees were melt in your mouth good. Filet Oscar was done perfectly and was delicious. Very large amount of crab on it. Good size helping of asparagus and just the right amount of bernaisse sauce.
Birthday dessert was lovely...4 small tastes of different desserts.
Wonderful dinner. Will go back in a heartbeat!
They didn’t credit us points for the dinner for some reason? Please credit us the points? Thanks!
No way is the lobster bisque worth $14 a cup. The lobster bits in the soup were tough and too large. A knife was needed . VO manhattan was returned . Needed more vermouth. Lettuce was not fresh nor chilled. Salad bacon seemed artificial. Lamb chops were greasy and over cooked. Augratin potatoes contained far too much garlic and was sparse on the cheese. Adjacent table containing two male diners attracted much of the waitstaff for loud, lenghty, and annoying conversations throughout our dinner. Lobster tail was excellent and the gratis anniversary desert was a nice touch. We chose Capital Grill over Andiamo's on the River. Might have been a bad choice.
Every time I leave Capital Grille I ask myself "Why do I keep coming here?". We were seated in the patio, as requested. Nice, mild MI evening for dining outdoors. It became apparent rather quickly that they were understaffed. Long waits between cocktails and food and waitstaff just not able to keep up. Ordered the steak tartare and it was very underwhelming. Just don't understand the draw and since I don't get it personally, I won't return.
Excellent service and delightful meal!
My group enjoyed ourselves as we celebrated my birthday
Always on point! Their seasonal beet salad was amazing paired with burrata upon request.
The service was amazing our server was the best
It’s the Capital Grille. If you don’t know, now you know. Excellent service. Excellent food. Steaks. Surf and turf. Lobster bisque. Crab and lobster cake appetizer. The mashed potatoes were too runny for me. The generous pour was more than generous...more than generous. Desert...very good. Overall...excellent meal and dining experience.
Exceptional service, outstanding food and ambiance . Jason, our server was quick, attentive and responsive. My filet was prepared perfectly, pink in the middle, flavorful and moist. Highly recommended for dinner with friends or any special event.
We were celebrating my birthday and I have to say that it was the finest dining experience of my life! The food the ambience the staff.... impeccable! Totally worth the value and we will for sure come back!
Great time great food a bit pricey but overall good experience
Wonderful dining experience for our anniversary. Kristy made excellent wine recommendations to accompany a perfect meal!
Went here for dinner on a Thursday night to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Have been here numerous times in the past and always had good experiences. Is one of our favorites in Metro Detroit. When I made the reservation on Open Table, I requested a booth and noted it was for an anniversary. When we arrived, we were promptly seated at a booth, and the table surface had rose petals and some glitter (hearts and stars) on it, and a card with a personal note wishing us a happy anniversary. What a nice touch!
The waiter (Sal) was very good and was there when we needed him (he ended up getting quite busy) and was a good relaxing pace from cocktails to dessert. To start we had the cast iron garlic shrimp; it was quite good and the waiter served it from a hot skillet. My wife had the wedge salad and I had the Caesar salad including anchovies; they were both fresh and very tasty. We both had 10 oz. filets with a side dish of soy glazed brussels sprouts. The steaks were cooked perfect and melt in your mouth tender, as would be expected. The soy glazed brussel sprouts were really tasty and cooked perfect. After finishing our meal, the waiter brought over a great dessert for two (without asking), which was "on the house". It was warm double chocolate cake with ice cream on top, and Happy Anniversary written on the plate in chocolate! Classy and such a nice way to finish the evening!
So overall was another outstanding experience, and hats off to the establishment for making it special!! We were very satisfied and will definitely dine there again.
I’ve never had a bad experience at Capital Grille and make it a point to dine there every time I come back home to visit my family in MI.
My friends and I celebrate all our special occasions at The Cap because we know we will always have a good meal and good service. Never been disappointed yet!
We celebrated our anniversary at the restaurant. It was fantastic. From the moment we walked in and were seated by Roger, to our friendly, knowledgeable server, Jessica, to our delicious wedge salads, filets, Brussell sprouts and chocolate lava cake. Yummmmmy. The ambiance was romantic, quiet and calming. Highly recommend this venue.
Food was great, but it took longer to get our entrees than I thought it should have.
From when you walk in the door and are warmly greeted by Sally, The Cap never disappoints. Excellent menu, friendly and attentive service. Love it!
Had a great birthday lunch. Everyone loved the food. Sat outside, beautiful dsy
Perfect as always!
We celebrated our daughter's graduation there and the experience was quite different from previous times we had dined there. This time there were a lot of younger children, louder music playing and the service was mediocre. The server didn't even offer coffee or after dinner drinks. He certainly wasn't as attentive as previous servers.
In summary, would have to reconsider our choices in the future. It used to be a "five star" kind of restaurant , but this time was just a very expensive "ok".
For the prices, you would expect more. The food was bland, and service was mediocre. Definitely won’t be returning.
Daughter called Resturant from out of US to treat us to dinner. Resturant did excellent job in full filling her wishes.
Aaron and Katrina expertly attended with both timing, attention to detail and personality. The food was perfect. An all around excellent meal.
The food was delicious and the service was outstanding.
Capital Grille never disappoints. The food is the best and the service is impeccable.
6 yr anniversary
We had an awesome wait team lead by Forrest! Thoroughly enjoyed the food, drinks and service.
First let me say we love Capital grille and always go there when in Chicago. I’ve been to Troy twice and found the overall experience not as good overall.
It seemed the hostess was seating tables that were close to each other perhaps for the convenience of the server but unfortunate for us, as she seated a table with a small child who was a typical small child (whining and spilling his drink) and capital grille is not a child friendly atmosphere. We we seated after a table in the middle of the room was seated with two very well known patrons. Every waiter and bus person approached their table with hearty greetings and other servers came from other parts of the restaurant. Again, I have nothing against familiarity with regulars but it was very difficult to not overhear the conversations two tables away (we were in a booth). Maybe if we weren’t seated I such close proximity? Our waiter spent a lot of time chatting, again, which is fine but when we needed his attention I had to stare at him until he looked up at us more than once. Two scantily clad young women were seated in the booth behind us and waiters and bus staff took turns walking by and circling the room only to end up at the kitchen, for a glimpse of cleavage. We watched this for the duration of our luncheons. It was juvenile and not what I expect when I dine with you.
Great, as always!
Great food, great service. We celebrated our two year anniversary there and they went out of their way in making the day special for us. The table was covered in rose petals and little hearts with a card wishing us a happy anniversary. Our server was polite, excellent and very helpful. The food was amazing! The filet I ordered was juicy and tender. The salmon was very tasty and had a good sear. At the end, they brought a brownie with icecream compliments of the house. Overall, highly recommend this place. Great experience and will definitely be back!
Great service, food and atmosphere
This visit was quite disappointing. We both ordered the lobster & crab cake sandwich but I sent mine back because the texture & taste were bad. My husband didn’t enjoy his either. I ended up eating an appetizer that was mediocre. The server was great and the manager was nice & apologetic but we will not return anytime soon.
Food and service were great!
Everything was great, service was exceptional and food was fantastic
Took my wife here for her birthday. Service was exceptional, and I would visit again for this aspect alone. Food was above average. Obviously, people go here for the steaks. However, I was not blown away by the quality of the meat. My wife's NY strip had a tendon running through the whole steak. My ribeye was tender, but underseasoned.
What a wonderful way to celebrate my son earning his masters in health management from CMU! Our server Shannon was awesome! Thank you for the little extras that made our celebration lunch memorable.
Guaranteed to get a solid meal, good steak. Our meal today was good but lacked the extra touch Capital is known for. Service was ok. Food served, minus steak knives and baked potato toppings. No big deal generally, but it took some time to ge these resulting in a cold meal.
We sat outside which was enjoyable.I ordered the whole Maine lobster my husband had the salmon and we shared the kale salad. All were ok.
It started when the basket of bread came, the rolls were hard as rocks. As if they had been microwaved too long. I asked for two more rolls to have with our salad (which was delicious) and one of the two rolls was again, hard as a rock and one was fresh. There’s no excuse for that at a restaurant of this caliber.
When I ordered the lobster I asked for a two pounder, uncracked and steamed. She said they only had a three pound but it was the last one and they wanted to get rid of it so if I wanted it they would give it to me for the price of a two pound. I thought that was fair. But being the last one made me think it was old. It wasn’t. But before it arrived they told me the chef had cracked it. (Why?) For those that like whole Maine lobsters, that’s kind of a big deal. I wasn’t pleased but had my heart set on lobster so I was going to give it a try. But I t tastes different cooked opened up.
In the meantime, since we were sitting outside we hardly saw our two servers. All I was drinking was water and had to wait about half my meal for a refill. When they brought the lobster they neglected to bring a bowl for the shells or an extra napkin. I know these sound petty, but when you’re paying $30 a pound for a meal you shouldn’t have to ask for water and a bowl and a napkin and fresh rolls.
I’ve been to this restaurant many times and have ordered the same meal and have enjoyed it immensely. This is my go to place for lobster but this time was a big disappointment.
My husband agreed. His meal was ok. The salmon was a nice piece of fish and cooked perfectly. But had no flavor. It was supposed to have a citrus glaze. But it didn’t.
We waited and waited and we hadn’t seen our servers so I had to go inside with my plate to get it wrapped to go. It just added to the disappointments.
Sorry Capital Grill, it wasn’t your night.
