Duck tacos are the bomb! Can’t go wrong with the platter and like how they’ll accommodate the tastes of different diners and tailor the platter to your preferences when in a group. Excellent fries and dip! Delicious cocktails too. We keep coming back!
great bbq, staff on point, ordered perfectly for family style with knowledgeable staff.
We arrived on time for an 8:30 reservation (confirmed by Open Table) only to have to wait 20 minutes to be seated--with very little in the way of apology. We then ordered cocktails before we ordered food only to have the drinks arrive after our first course--this time with no apology for the long delay! The food was pretty good overall although not particularly memorable--ceviche was tasty; octopus paella was the best dish; the seafood boil was disappointingly bland. The space and the decor are beautiful, the best part of the experience, but the noise level is high (perhaps created by a lot of echoing with the extremely high ceiling). Not sure we would return.
We came in and were seated promptly. Our server came by within a few minutes and made drink recommendations. The house drinks were tasty and the wine list wasn’t huge but it had enough of the basics that we could find something we liked. We ordered the Korean fried cauliflower - incredible! For mains we ordered the beef brisket (also phenomenal) and the ribs(good), collard greens (tasty) and the fries (good but nothing special). The lighting is dim and great for a date night. The music is a little louder which adds a nice vibe without being too loud. Service was also good and we didn’t feel rushed. Overall, would recommend for meat lovers looking for a good vibe on a weekend night.
Seafood platters and oysters were superb . Great service as well
From start to finish it was an excellent dining experience. The Carbon Bar is the best BBQ in Canada!
Went there with friends for my husband's 40th birthday and were NOT disappointed! The food was mindblowingly good. Cocktails were excellent. Service was exceptional. KFC, fried green tomatoes and hush puppies were so good, and the pit master's platter was to die for. So glad we went. Would definitely recommend and go back again. Well done!
Good overall but food is not in big portion. The fishmonger meal was a bit disappointing.
The BBQ platter is by far the best brisket, fried chicken, and ribs that I've ever had. And the decor of the restaurant is so cool! Not at all what you would associate with BBQ. One of my favourite restaurants in Toronto.
Amazing service .
Server was the best I’ve ever had.
Comfort food, Mac n cheese a must
Experience, is always & has been amazing and accommodating since the first I’ve been to Carbon bar . I highly recommend the pit master platter to cover all bases & the kfc , filled up by death by chocolate 👌. Thank you again to the staff
We had the Cheddar Hushpuppies and the Pit Master Platter for 2 with a side of beans and every bite was amazing! The beef brisket melted in our mouths! Highly recommend.
Service was great and staff was very friendly. Despite being busy, food came out quickly and staff checked on us multiple times.
Would visit again !
Great spot to go for any occasion - had the brisket and it was amazing, definitely worth the $25! Will be coming back.
The ribs and beef on the saving plate were delicious and the Korean cauliflower starter wears spicy and tasty. Great fun evening.
Perfect setting for fun dinner with friends! Food was awesome!
This was our second visit and we enjoyed everything so much the first time, we ordered the exact same thing again! Raised by Wolves was a complex cocktail that involved bourbon and fire and came garnished with a mint leaf, wedged in place by a cinnamon stick that formed a bridge across the the untroubled "waters" of my glass. Amazing. Don't let the name of the best appetizer ever fool you; KFC (Korean Fried Cauliflower) is a sweet, hot, sticky, crispy dish of heaven on earth. It is so satisfying and savory, its hard to believe this isn't chicken! There were lots of interesting appetizers but we went straight to the pit for the brisket. Tender slices of beef, served with sides of sauce and coleslaw. The couple next to us was having a burger with a slice of brisket and their golden brown fries looked so tasty, we had to order some of our own to keep from staring at theirs. Whatever you do, save room for dessert. The Banofee Pie is a nirvana inducing combination of butter, and some kind of gooey goodness with sliced bruleed bananas on top and bourbon infused whip cream on the side. There are no words to describe it other than heaven on a fork.
Great Blueberry pancakes and the chicken & waffles game was strong! Definitely going back to Carbon Bar
Got the platter, not enough food and no where near worth the price. Though a loaf of corn bread in there for $150.00?!?
Anomaly. Waiter was slow and we had to chase him for service.
Great experience with amazing food! Little priceier than we would’ve liked but don’t regret going at all!
Seated earlier than our reservation...points Sever amazing....points The food was spot on
Food was enjoyable. Service was awful. The service started out well. We were attended to immediately upon sitting down and our food arrived quickly. The food was great. However no one came back to see if we wanted more coffee after delivering the first cup. One member of our party ordered the prix fix special but the desert arrived 15 minutes after we paid the bill. We reminded the waiter/bartender before the bill arrived, while paying the bill and 15 minutes after paying the bill. When he finally brought the truffle there was no apology, he just hastily set it down and left. Well, at that point so did we. It’s unfortunate because the food was good and it was a restaurant that we could have gone again to if not for the poor service.
For everything in life, the best approach is to under-promise and over-deliver. I feel like the Carbon Bar sets itself up for the opposite. And I can’t quite put my finger on why, maybe it’s the price point, maybe it’s the menu, but my chicken (apparently cooked sous vide) arrived cold to the touch. I mean cold. It was a bit beyond me how something that they “wanted to ensure was cooked” could be refrigerator cold in the centre, next to the bone. They were very apologetic and brought two side dishes on the house and a fresh meal - so really can’t complain about the service - very solicitous - but maybe their kitchen is lacking.
The service was horrible. In the first 5 minutes, four different servers asked for a drink order. Then, for the remainder of the evening it took roughly 20 minutes or more to have someone visit the table. Empty plates were cleared after a half hour for both apps and mains. Between dessert menu and ordering dessert was another 20 mins, with nothing to drink at the table. Service is a joke here.
Enjoyed another evening at Carbon Bar prior to a TIFF screening. Was happy to find I’d landed there at happy hour. It was $6 for a glass of white, red, rosé, prosecco, or draught. They also brought a little bar snack for the happy hour that was a tasty pulled pork, black bean concoction. We had the rose and it was lovely.
Service was helpful, friendly, and not intrusive.
We had the KFC, duck tacos, and the corn bread fritters. All good. All recommended but the duck tacos stole the show.
This is one of or the best brunch location in Toronto. Often quiet in the first hour which I prefer, order up the buttermilk pancakes, they are the best in town. You will not be dissapointed. Great comfort food and make sure you ask for Ivan when you come in. The best host/manager in any restaurant I have been too. He will make you feel welcome and will take good care of you.
Went here with my brother and Dad and they loved it!! Super awesome waiter, food was spectacular and vibe was chill for basically any type of event. Absolutely would go back, a must eat if you’re in Toronto.
We had a tasty, reasonably priced meal! Great service... Definitely recommend!!!
The manager Ivan was great and the staff made us feel at home.
Visiting from Ottawa and they were very helpful.
Great food and excellent service.
Music could be lower to allow for conversation.
The salad selection was extremely poor, considering the remainder of the menu was very meat heavy. The meat was good. The sides were all good except the collard greens (100% bland, awful) but way too expensive! It was my birthday, so I was happy to have a night out without kids, and the vibe was great. I was just disappointed because I want a big delicious salad or veg heavy dish with all that meat. But, I was very happy they gave me one of those awesome chocolate skulls!! We'll be coming again.... but I'm going to wait a while and hope you add another salad to the menu in the meantime!
Hmm....conflicted......food was amazing, beautiful space....amazing high ceilings......half price oysters on Tuesdays....incredible.....duck tacos were delish......split a rack of ribs with my wife.....equally delish.....wines by the glass are well thought but quite pricy.....now the conflicted part.....service was not very good.....it wasn’t busy, waiter was forgetful, plates not cleared in timely fashion, no quality check was done...ordered 2nd glass of wine was forgotten.....had to order again.....seemed more interested in resetting his section.....the only time he was genuinely prompt was when he abruptly dropped off the bill.... not going to pile on, but service was not great and these are simple steps of service.....
We started our nite at the bar. The bartenders were fantastic. Great attention to detail, and very entertaining
Buon bar con barbecue. Assolutamente da raccomandare!
Great food. Great Service.
Pancakes were dry. I could taste the baking soda. The lemon yogurt on the pancakes tasted like sour cream or yogurt gone bad.
If the service and atmosphere was poor, but the food was great, I would come back. In this instance it is the the other way around.
Too many interruptions by the waiter
This is a great place for foodies
As it was my wife's birthday. It would have been nice if the restaurant offered her a rose or a cocktail.
We were able to get our table an hour earlier than it had been reserv d for. Our table of four opted for the tasting menu. Great way value for the number of dishes offered and the amount of food. The duck confit taco was very tasty, the smoked trout wonderfully prepared with just enough sear, the ribs were the best I have had in years-note that they are smoky so if that is not your taste, I suggest the chicken! The bannoffen pie was superb, even to the non-dessert eaters! Looking forward to a return visit.
BBQ was really good as well as the Mac and Cheese. Drinks were good too. Overall a little pricey.
