We were 6 people and ordered the Pit Master Platter. It was a bit too much food for us, but we were able to pack some home. Food still tasted pretty good the next day! Service was good and had the right level of attentiveness. We went on a Sunday with 7:30pm reservation, and it didn't seem that busy, so there was a good atmosphere and the restaurant wasn't too noisy.

All the items in the platter were tasty, but I personally found the brisket to be on the dryer side and thus, my least favourite (although it had a great smoky aroma). Thinking about the holistic experience of the platter, I would have liked there to be another meat option that was juicier/less dry (e.g., fried chicken was juicy, but the ribs/turkey/brisket were all on the dryer side of the spectrum). French fries and 4 types of meat ended up feeling quite dense, so it would have been nicer if there was an option to swap the fries for other sides. In addition to the platter, we also ordered the mac + cheese, collard greens, slaw, and beans. The best of these sides were the beans, but I could pass on the other ones (fries included). Regardless, I think the platter is a good introduction meal to the restaurant and still worth trying at least once!

The table favourite was the buttermilk fried chicken! I would definitely go back to eat just a plate of fried chicken.

We tried a lot of different dishes and everything was delicious. I ordered the winner winner chicken dinner with a side of mac n cheese. We also ordered a side of mini pogos, beans and shishito peppers. So good.

Group of seven- sat for almost 20 min without being asked if we even wanted a drink... food was pretty good but service was poor! We may give it another try??

I proposed to my wife to be here this night! I couldn’t have done it as smoothly if it weren’t for the help of the incredible staff here! We were treated like the king I pretended to be and the queen my fiancée truly is! The food was perfect and all the extra touches the staff provided were unexpected and wonderful! It was a terrible stormy evening in Toronto that night but inside the Carbon Bat it was warm and full of love! Well done gang!

Great food and service!
Kaleb answered all of our questions and suggested an amazing dessert that we both loved.

A great place on Queen East with modern, yet warm atmosphere. The service was excellent, from our greeting at the front door, to chatting with the bartender, to our server. We enjoyed the happy hour and appetizer at the bar before moving to our table for a delicious dinner. The flank steak was perfectly cooked and the duck tacos were fresh and flavourful. We are looking forward to returning.

Maybe I'm out of touch with modern downtown restaurants/bars, but I found it quite pricey for the kind of place it is. Putting the cost aside, everything else was excellent.

Fantastic service from the minute we walked in the door to the minute we left. The server was knowledgeable and affable with my guest and I. She knew it was a business lunch and didn't hover around our table which was very much appreciated. It was disappointing to have a poor cut of chicken in my friend chicken sandwich, likely will not order that again.

We dined here for an anniversary on Saturday Nov 16.
Initially we were a little apprehensive- we felt as though we didn’t “fit the mold” of the crowd at this location.

Nevertheless, we persisted.

We ordered a beer at the bar while waiting to be seated- and it was busy! I personally really enjoyed watching the bartenders do their thing; professional, clean, and entertaining- everything you’d want from a bartender.

We were about 10 minutes late to seating, and once we sat down our service was excellent. The manager was very attentive to us, offering champagne to celebrate the anniversary, and our server was excellent.

It was a little late for us to have a full meal, so we had the all beef corn dogs and some more champagne, walking away very pleased with our experience.

The Carbon Bar leans more on the pricey side of things, but in my own opinion, totally worth it.

Thank you for a great evening.

I’ll never go again! Service was great and food was okay. The fellow who sat us down, told us we only had 2 hours for dinner.- meanwhile we were arriving at 8pm. We mentioned that we are disappointing that he was telling us, we need to get out in time , just as we’re arriving. Why do you book tables so close to one another !! We left at10, and well over 8 tables were empty! This place is simply a high end Swiss Chalet with music.

Food was okay, but nothing special. The small portion of ribs was tender, but other than too much salt, had no flavour. The duck tacos were good and the Cesar salad ok. The noise level and closeness of the next table made for an uncomfortable dining experience.

Good spot. More expensive than your usual BBQ place but portions are good (except the beer which looked much less than the promised 16 oz) and good luck finding a nice place downtown where 3 can dine for under $150. Brisket was the standout, fried chicken and the ribs were also very good. The korean cauliflower was just okay - a little greasy. Service was solid - maybe a little too earnest, but no complaints. Wouldn't go out of my way to return due to the prices but a solid choice if you are downtown.

Family get together. The restaurant was mainly empty because it is Sunday night but we were squeeze in with another table with less than 18 inches from us. With so few people, the restaurant could have seat us mor comfortably. The greeters were low energy and looked like they don’t want to be there and not happy to see us at the door. We have been to Carbon Bar a few times before with friends and business associates and service and ambience was better. Although the food is good, I will think twice about bring business associates here for the fear of bad service and grumpy greeters.

Good experience with good flavours - some dishes were a bit too salty, notably the brisket. The hostess was squeezing everyone into one area so it was a bit congested and tight but otherwise it was a nice dinner.

This would have been 5 stars across the board. The food was fabulous. The ambiance and restaurant's look were excellent. The only little hitch... they never told us there was a 2 hr dining limit when I booked, or when I arrived. So around the 1.5 hr mark I felt the server seemed to have an urgency to her questions about dessert and post meal drinks. Finally about 15 min later she said there was a need for the table at in 15 min. Nice.

Second time there and as good as the first.

Seven people had 3 platters plus sides of corn bread, pit beans, duck confit Caesar Salad and BBQ Cauliflower. Ample portions no one left hungry.

Old Fashioned and Smoked Tobacco Manhattans were terrific, albeit why in downtown Toronto are cocktails all priced $15 and up everywhere you go...competition anyone?

Had my CEO come from out of town for a business meeting here. He was impressed with the venue and freaked out (in a good way) when he saw grilled alligator on the menu.
Service was very good.

Very pleased for our first visit. The only issue was selecting the $69.00 Forget the Menu. Seemed like our dishes wee not well timed with our guests. Also our food arrived on one platter to feed me & my son. Seems strange to have one desert that both our spoons dip into! This would not work if it was a dinner with our friends.

Generous portions with the platter for 3 which was nice as it allowed us to eat our own personal favorites from it. Not necessarily my favourite bbq ribs available in Toronto but very good and all meats were of excellent quality!
