One of the most expensive meals our family has eaten in Whistler over the past ten evenings. Fondue was a charming experience in a lovely, though mostly empty dining room. Great service.

Great service ! This was our second visit and it was superb. Same waitress who was fabulous and anticipated our needs. Cheese fondue and meet fondue are amazing - make sure you save space for the chocolate fondue !!

Amazing service by our waitress! We had a great family dinner and a true pleasurable evening. Really good cheese and meat fondue. We initially thought we would be short on food but it turned out perfect !! Chocolate fondue was fabulous!! We can’t wait to be back.

Warm surroundings and warm staff. Local BC Pinot Noir was good. Cheese and chocolate courses were great, prices shocking high (or portion shocking low) for the steak. Probably a deal breaker...

A fantastic 50th birthday dinner at the Chalet. The restaurant went above and beyond in taking care of us, giving us complimentary champagne on arrival, the nicest table by the fireplace and a wonderful meal. The cheese fondue was fantastic, followed by the perfect glass of schnapps. A wonderful experience in every way. They even arranged a complimentary ride home in a limo- we walked there in the snow, and sent a driver over to our hotel to return or forgotten credit card.

We are French and had really high expectations concerning the cheese fondue...so unfortunately we have been a little bit disappointed by the recipe, as well as by the charcuterie (meat) plate...But the place and the service are great.

Great family/group experience. The food was very good. Though don't expect a 5 star meal. The ambiance and experience was worth it. They let the kids share off an adult fondue for free which was nice.

Very expensive and not a lot of food. We all got the 6oz surf and added shrimp and they put it on two plates between 7 of us. It was maybe about 16oz total, not 42oz which we were charged for. Additionally, nothing else came with our fondue. They should have told us. No one wants just steak. It would be so easy to add some potatoes or other veggies but it is. It even offered on the menu. We all left very very hungry and non of us are huge eaters. Don't go!!!

Absolutely exquisite service!

My boyfriend and I went for our 3 year anniversary and we're blown away. We highly suggest getting the full fondue experience, complete with a first course salad, then fondue and dessert to finish.

Birthday party for a senior citizen. Party of seven included 4 seniors, 1 father and two grandchildren. The three types of fondue- Cheese and Chinoise together as a main course with Chocolate for dessert. Our server helped us with the quantity of each and the timing. Service was attentive but not overly. The setting with exposed beams and lots of wood fit the meal. For this group it was a perfect party meal.

Menu was quite expensive given quality of food. Server was friendly, though did take down my mains order incorrectly, surprising given that we started off by ordering 2 glasses of wine and 2 mains. Our meals were brought out, I then had to wait for them to remake my main course as I watched my husband eat. The Rosti with chicken and mushrooms, was terrible; the rosti was greasy, flabby in texture and extremely salty whilst the chicken was very dry.
Shared the Chocolate fondue for dessert, the texture of the fondue was like pudding, and there was some separation with oil happening in the fondue pot.

A very enjoyable combination of fine dining and the Alpine experience. The menu is oriented towards different fondues but also has other Germanic dishes such as pork knuckle and schnitzel. Our party of two adults and two teens ordered a combination of salad, charcuterie, veggies and cheese fondue (for 2) followed by the chocolate fondue. This ended up being the perfect quantity, avoiding the bloated feeling that comes from eating too much cheese. Needless to say the food was excellent and the service was of the level to be expected from the Fairmont. The decoration is, as one would expect from the name, that of a large and expensive alpine chalet. All very glamorous!

My husband and I and son and daughter celebrated New Year’s Eve at the Chalet and had a wonderful experience.

Pros
Food - I was curious if I'd have the same exceptional experience from the Fairmont's Waldhaus in Banff last year. The Chalet in Whistler came through!
Fondue - Delicious, mouth watering truffle cheese fondue - get the truffle version - it's soo good!
Beef Rosti - also mouth watering and nice getting something different - soo good!
Salmon - also very delicious and healthy!
Drinks
Wonderful selection of cocktails, wines, champagne/sparkling and beer - we started with Stellar's Jay Brut from BC (I like to try the local wine when I travel) and very tasty; my son got a delicious cocktail "Right Word" w/Gin, St. Germain Elderflower, Lime - very very good; I also got the Blasted Church Pinot Gris (another local and delicious and very fun private label bottle for the Fairmont Whistler)

Service
Excellent - down to earth, fun, personable - Stephanie and everyone from the hostess to the rest of the crew, made our NYE a memorable one! Loved the stories and pictures of the spirit bear, loved the recommendations and loved Stephanie! Stephanie also gave us directions for a beautiful walk back to the Fairmont - just magical!

Ambiance
Very nice and comfortable - I did like Fairmont's Waldhaus in Banff's ambiance better - a bit cozier and more authentic Swiss/European feel - but the Chalet in Whistler is also very nice.

Highly recommend for a fun and delicious evening!

The Chalet never disappoints! Each winter we look forward to a visit to our favourite restaurant in Whistler. The service is impeccable from the point we park our vehicle at the Chateau Whistler, the shuttle ride to the club house, to the greeting upon arrival and the service throughout dinner. The food is fresh and delicious and served in a timely manner. We LOVE The Chalet and highly recommend it to everyone.

Totally miserable experience. Stayed at Fairmont's worldwide this was off the hook lousy.
The service was attentive last night, but the kitchen staff should be fired. We had a reservation for our family of 7 for 6 pm. We ordered the fondue experience for everyone at our table, and since this is their specialty... we thought this made things easier. We waited over an hour after ordering, for the first course to arrive, our salads. Then we waited over 30 minutes for the fondue pots to arrive after finishing our salads. Even after our main course was cleared we waited 20 minutes for chocolate fondue to arrive, even though half of the restaurant was empty at this point. Our experience of three courses, salad, cheese and meat fondue, and chocolate fondue took 2 hours and 45 minutes. Thank goodness our children are all teenagers and could suffer the wait times, but I felt for all the families around us with small children that were stuck waiting so long for food as well. Gave one star because I feel sorry for the wait staff who were stuck making excuses for the kitchen all night.

The setting with fireplace and the folk music playing further enhanced the experience. It really felt like a real chalet. The fondue was delicious, especially the apples. The chinoise pot was equally tasty featuring fresh seafood and beef accompanied by several the finishing sauces. The pesto aioli with sockeye salmon was our favorite. The chocolate fondue for dessert was a mouthful of nearly molten chocolate dipped in the perfect bite of fruit or baked treat. The banana bread dipped in chocolate was absolutely the most delicious surprise.

During our 5 nights in Whistler, we loved this place so much, we went twice. The service was personal and attentive, the staff was delightful and professional, and the food was divine. Our only complaint was there was too much to enjoy! You might want to skip lunch if you are going to go for the "Fondue Experience."

Great restaurant all around, and a short walk from the upper village. Kudos to the manager, servers, and chefs.

Had dinner on my last night in town. We were staying at the Fairmont Hotel and thought we would give it a try. Very convenient that the hotel will give you a ride directly there, but it's actually close enough to walk.

On arrival, you walk around the side of the building. Felt a little strange, but no big deal. You enter right next to the bar and are greeted warmly. We were quickly taken to our table and since we were there early, had a seat right next to the fire. And between two tables full of kids. Probably because of the 'kids eat free' program. I have kids and the ones who were near us were relatively well behaved ... but not exactly the most romantic environment.

Overall the food was pretty good. We had cheese fondue, salad and the onion soup. Nothing phenomenal, but nothing at all wrong with any of the dishes. The disappointing part was the wine list. Not enough options - and the ones on the menu left a lot to be desired. Mostly bottles that could be found in the grocery store for $10-20, but on the menu for $75+. I don't mind paying that for a good bottle of wine ... but not for a low-end bottle of Kim Crawford or Mondavi. This is a missed opportunity for The Chalet, as they actually have a wine rack along the wall that could just as easily be full of the good stuff!

I would consider coming back. Looked like the view might be amazing in the summer. But in that case, I would definitely look into bringing my own wine (assuming corkage was available).

The food was very good but if you are there for the fondue it is very expensive as the amount of beef is small and it doesn't come with anything else so you have to order the cheese fondue too. Ends up minimum $70/person.
