The Chase Fish & Oyster Ratings and Reviews
Pretty disappointed with the food given the high price.
- the platter of oysters were good but still overpriced.
- appetizer portions were tiny
- salmon was over cooked
- had two pieces of tuna, one was perfectly cooked while the other was dry
- the fried chicken was actually nice and better than their seafood
Service was good, nothing out of the ordinary.
Food was amazing! We had the Valentine's Prix Fixe Menu which opened with Oysters (delish but only two of them), two appetizers which was a Halibut soup with fennel & a Lobster quiche (super flavourful!). The main was a shared plate of roasted potatoes, large roasted mushrooms, truffled potatoes & some sort of mixture including king oysters & crab. Dessert was a coconut truffle with pineapple, cherries, and this wonderful white chocolate layering. The Chase Fish & Oyster was outstanding! Service was great, & not to loud - Great choice! Will Def go again!
Great food. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. Food was served in very well timed fashion.
Will definitely return!
Went on Valentines Day and expected the push to turn tables with only a set menu. One appetizer was inedible and replaced with another. Overall food was OK. We expected the evening to go fast and it did.
As the restaurant filled with the first dinner wave at 6 PM, they decided to increase the background music to a horrific level until many started to complain.
Wait staff obviously overwhelmed at times delivering food to wrong tables, etc.
Overall a disappointing evening.
PS- why no coat check in the winter when all have heavy winter jackets, etc. With the extra row of tables squeezed in front near window, there was no privacy, it was very loud and coats had to go on the back of chairs with no room!
Food was outstanding
The food was so fresh and bursting with incredible flavour. Highly recommend the Tuna Nachos, Harissa Octopus and the Lobster roll
Amazing food and amazing service
The seafood salad was the best my boyfriend has ever had. The sea breem was cooked perfectly with crispy skin over the grits which I was pleasantly surprised I would like. The whole lunch was very tasty. The waitress forgot to bring our tea and coffee with our dessert but we finally got it very late.
The best restaurant in Toronto! The food is amazing and it is always a great flavor taste experience!
Food was amazing. Loved it. Great place for occasions and trying new food.
This review is based off the winterlicious menu sampled recently. The food was average at best, appetizer was too salty, the main wasn't very inspiring. And the desert wasn't far from a Timmy's sugar-filled snack. Not very great value. All said an done, service was great, food was sub-par. Might be a better experience on the regular menu
I was impressed by their food and service. Awesome!
The winterlicious lunch was reasonable and satisfying except the dessert(it was too sweet for me)
Although the noise level was quite high, the casual atmosphere was comfortable.
I’d love to go back again if I have a chance.
Great food, fantastic service, would definitely visit again! But like another reviewer, I indicated that we were there for a birthday and there was no acknowledgement. Why ask? Not a deal breaker but maybe they could have added a small candle on one of the 2 desserts we ordered.
Good service and nice food. Except the salad,it is a little bitter.
Went here for Winterlicious 2018. The food was tasty, the oysters were fabulous. Wonderful building. We even went upstairs after to check out the place and one of the servers took us out on the patio that was closed obviously because of winter but nice view and I would definitely go back in the summer months for the experience.
Loved the restaurant atomsphere . Server was friendly and helpful. Made recommendation from the menu that we really enjoyed. Will definitely be going back for another visit.
Great spot for oysters and wine. Service and food normally very good. Had an off night once, but typically a great choice.
Remains a favourite for me. The service remains excellent.
Amazing seafood! Service was warm and friendly. Try the platter.
I was so looking forward to eating great seafood at The Chase. I was very disappointed. I ordered 2 different seafood tacos. I found the "hot" spices too overpowering for the fish and they were cold. My friend's bisque was also cold.
I had the halibut (tasty and hot) but did not find the sauce was the right taste for the entire dish.
Overall The Chase is a trendy place with a great location for people who work downtown but I am not inclined to go here again.
Service was poor. We had to flag down waitress more than once. The wine we ordered arrived at table after our meals were delivered. Overall lunch, main course and coffee took 2hours and restaurant was not busy.
Wow, the Oysters could have made for a meal! Next time it’s Oysters & Tapas - A great way to savor this menu (and wine list too)!
Food and service was excellent. I did have to ask the servers to have music adjusted as the volume was simply too loud in addition to a larger table nearby. The servers willingly responded and it made the experience much more pleasant. It was the only downside to a great meal and service.
New Year’s Eve set menu was great value and delicious!
Food was not great, looked way more fancy on the website and on Open Table and it was just another modern bar. Also, according to Open Table this was a great place for breakfast and brunch, but they only offer breakfast on weekends. This is a mistake in Open Table.
Poor service. They seem want to let us out even our dishes hasn't finished yet and lots of space with no waiting que. didn't wash shells properly so we feel stones in every oyster and clam. Overall, Too much pricey.
We ate here before going to the theatre. Had the "family style" menu...lots of seafood! Fish was excellent (even the kids loved it). Service was helpful and friendly. Will return.
Was there for business lunch, my client ordered the Fried Chicken as recommended by the server - however was very greasy and appeared burnt; didn't expect that from a higher end restaurant. Not in nature to complain, but disappointed for sure.
Excellent staff. Amazing service and food. Stylish restaurant in the heart of Toronto!
We had the family style meal. Getting the tater tots and cauliflower at the outset was disappointing. That being said we live The Chase and will be back.
It was our first time dining at The Chase Fish & Oyster and the food was fantastic. The service on the other hand was the opposite. Not only did we not have a clear server, after putting in our first order no one except food runners came to our table. No checkup no offer for refills of our cocktails, nothing. Unfortunately we had to keep flagging staff down to order more food and another drink and a dessert menu. The staff bringing out the food were great, but the servers were disappointing.
A delicious meal, great informative & helpful staff.
Tried the Family style meal for the table and none of us enjoyed it. It was not a well balanced selection of food. Avoid it and order from the menu. Service was great at the beginning but fell apart as soon as it got busy.
Out pre-concert with my Mom and her friend who are in their 70’s. They were thrilled with the experience
Great din as always, doesn’t disappoint. Cocktails were a hit and the biscuits and oysters!! Octopus and lobster roll were good, not outstanding. The big miss was the mussels- the broth wasn't overly flavourful and the mussels were ridiculously large, kind of gross. Overall, great din, love this place.
Yareli was amazing, very helpful and recommendations were fantastic
Really excellent food and service
Unexpected find turned out to be a great spot. Fresh oysters and clams were really good and priced right. A little on the high side but to be expected for this kind of restaurant. Fresh steamed lobster however was way overpriced - north of $100. Make sure you check their market price before ordering. Overall good atmosphere high-quality food. You won’t be disappointed.
