Found it rude that the servers were all cleaning up and setting up for tomo while we were still eating?? We felt rushed and not welcome towards end
Came here for an anniversary celebration. Food was good before but unfortunately this time it fell short. Ordered the halibut which was over cooked and the sides were extremely salty. The sides was made with anchovies but it was so salty we couldn’t taste the beans or vegetables at all. Sea bream was cooked perfectly but again the sides were not complimentary to the fish. Service was attentive, they even went out of their way to provide us dessert that had our anniversary in mind. But unfortunately the main course was a disappointment.
Wife enjoyed the snapper. I liked the mussels. Overall a great place. Will definitely be back
Excellent service, good selection of Scotch and wine, and very good seafood.
Service was slower than expected and sometimes absent. Food was stellar although some items seem priced higher than they deliver. Overall excellent.
Friendly, unpretentious, relaxed atmosphere, but still smart and elegant. Service was friendly and attentive without rushing or hovering.
Fresh east and west coast oysters with an assortment of condiments. The mignonette was perfectly tangy and full of the most finely minced shallots. Try the house hot sauce for a tasty, spicy zing.
Kale caesar salad with carrot "bacon" was perfect balance of bitter, salty, sour and creamy. A refreshing variation on the traditional caesar salad that provides everything you love about a caesar salad without the cliche.
Halibut was perfectly done and substantial enough to share, given the rich bed of stewed beans and wilted greens that accompany. Grilled Octopus was sweet and smokey and satisfying with the accompanying potatoes.
Everything was awful from the start. First of all our table wasn’t ready, than it had apparently been given to another party, than they shuffled us in and out of the bar which was packed and didn’t even offer us a glass of prosecco for good will or barely apologized! The food was barely mediocre, the server Maddy was terrific, the only positive aspect to this miserable night! Than the table next to us in which one of them lost a contact lens, caused a great distraction to everyone as it seemed every wait person was crawling around looking for this dam thing with phone flash lights, all for a contact lens? I could understand if it was a diamond out of her ring! Good grief! In the end Maddy said she would bring the manager over but never did, and no recompense was offered in the least. That’s it for this overrated restaurant, we will tell everyone we know and another review will be sent to trip- advisor for sure!!!
We arrived at 8pm for our reso and was told we had to wait for a table . What’s the point of making a reso if you have to wait . Food was great except grilled octopus . Should be called potatoes platter with a little Octopus .Hard to eat very loud crowd.
Fish and Chips too oily
Significantly more expensive than it used to be but the food quality doesn't match the price.
Staff couldn’t get anything right from being delayed 35 min before table was ready, stuck in a corner with the excess wine bottle table etc etc
Highly recommend this restaurant. Amazing food and great service
Have been coming for years and service and food are always consistently great.
Easter seafood brunch with little to no seafood
Easter Seafood Brunch! Not a person to do a buffet, but this was top notch, I would recommend and do again.
My go to place always good food and good service 👍
I liked the food there. I went with a group of friend for easter and they had a buffet mostly seafoods which we loved. It was fresh and tasty. The omelettes were the best i've ever tasted in canada. I would definitely go back. We all loved it.
Excellent Easter Brunch, and good value for the quality served. Would like to visit again when regular table service is available. Really enjoyed the occasion.
The ambiance was great, the décor modern. The servers were extremely friendly and went out of there way ensuring we were satisfied and well taken care of. We were able to get great recommendations on what to order. The seafood was fresh and the food was very flavorful. Myself and my son took my boyfriend here for his birthday and he had a great time, they even gave him a slice of pecan birthday pie with ice cream and a cookie that read "Happy Birthday" written in icing.
We had a 730 reservation. Upon arriving, we ordered oysters. They took 45 min to arrive and it took another 15 min after that to even have our entree orders taken
Servers were extremely inattentive to the point of just being derelict in their jobs.
After over a half hour waiting for our entrees to arrive, we requested our food to go as we had an event to attend.
I’ve been to The Chase a lot and have never been so disappointed in my experience.
While they did comp our take away food and Henry, the manager did buy us a round of drinks to try to make things right, it’s not always about the money, it’s about the two hours plus of my life I’m not getting back and the miserable experience.
I have to give HUGE compliments for the incredible lobster roll - this is authentic to my childhood from the east coast - thank you for keeping it real!!
We had visited before, around 6 months ago, but were disappointed this time. Service was ok, but food wasn't as pleasant, and too salty (ie veg, and pastry too). Won't be back.
The Chase Fish and Oyster was definitely a gem spot for a wonderful seafood dinner before attending a music concert.
Our friendly server was all smiles and made wonderful recommendations for our appetite since there were many delicious choices! We started with the Yonge Platter, followed by the octopus as an appetizer and then shared a whole fish for our main. Every dish and morsel were delicious, fresh and very flavourful.
Located just off from Yonge Street and Adelaide, we would absolutely recommended this restaurant to family and friends. We had such an awesome culinary experience that we plan to visit there again in the future!
Great food, good service, upbeat, friendly vibe
Fantastic food! Fantastic drinks. On the expensive side but always worth it. Will be returning again soon!
Made a reservation for the dining room, but when arrived on Sunday was told that it was closed and that there was a table in the fast food area available. Embarrassing buiness dinner situation. Very disappointed.
The food was fresh and fantastic, but unfortunately the service was terrible. Once we arrived the server came to our table promptly and we ordered a few small plates and bottle of wine. We waited over 10 minutes until we were served water and our wine arrived. The food came quickly and was delicious, our server did not come by at all to ask how we were doing, and we also noticed almost every other table was offered free bubbles except us. The server made us feel abandoned and unimportant, we expected more from the Chase
Lunch with a girlfriend almost turned into lunch with a blind date when they thought I was meeting a gentleman and almost sat me at his table! They quickly adjusted and I don't think the gentleman even knew he almost had a date so all good there.
One thing that is true of all the chase restaurants is that they really know how to create the right ambiance for for the food. The casual side, or downstairs, to the Chase is still chic and elegant but simpler than its upstairs partner. The menu is also more relaxed and perfect for a catch up lunch
The octopus was cooked perfectly and the flavours were a nice blend without overpowering the dish. The tuna nachos were so fresh and tasty and so perfect with the lightness of the taro chips. We ordered the Yonge platter and the best thing in it was a salmon crudo. The shrimp were ok. The oysters were also ok and neither of were impressed with the clans.. Might be a personal preference thing though. Overall it was a good meal but for the price I would have expected everything to be more than good. I can think of other seafood places in the neighbourhood I would go to before going back to the Chase.
We enjoy going to the Chase. My only issue this time was we waited to long to get our initial wine order, given it was not busy on a Sunday evening. We also asked for a serving of bread and it came burnt. Quite surprised to see we also were charged $4.50 for the bread.
Really great service and amazing food.
Very poor service. I was told they were under staffed. They kept forgetting our orders. One person in our party got their meal an hour after everyone else did. Not sure if they forgot about the order or if it takes that long to cook a small piece of fish. A reorder of drinks was completely forgotten. So was another appetizer that was ordered along with everything else.
Food was okay, but the experience was terrible. If you want to eat your food in a random order and watch others eat while you wait for your order, this is the right place for you. Otherwise go elsewhere.
For the price you pay the food was just okay and the cheese cake served for dessert was one of the worst I have ever had. I expected much much more.,
My wife and I went to The Chase Fish and Oyster for the first time recently and had the best oysters. The Tuna Nachos appetizer was awesome followed up by a delicious steak and lobster main. Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys great quality food and ambiance to match.
I wouold recommend this restaurant for its good food and good service. Everthing was delicious and the whole wait staff were friendly and served us very well.
Pretty disappointed with the food given the high price.
- the platter of oysters were good but still overpriced.
- appetizer portions were tiny
- salmon was over cooked
- had two pieces of tuna, one was perfectly cooked while the other was dry
- the fried chicken was actually nice and better than their seafood
Service was good, nothing out of the ordinary.
I had made a reservation through Open Table. Less than an hour later I tried to cancel the reservation. I was told that when I made a reservation the fine print clearly stated that there would be a $30. fee per guest if canceling the reservation. Unfortunately I made the reservation using my cell phone and never really read the fine print. Bad on me. So we decided to make it work and we went to the restaurant.
Perhaps if we had ordered drinks we would have received more attention from our waitress. (We noticed the couple beside us, who happened to order several drinks, got a lot of attention.) We had to ask for everything twice - lemon for the water, more water, dressing on the side, etc. The service put a shadow over our meal. The server said the right things but wasn't really listening. The food was very good - nouveau cuisine (in other words, very small portions). It was a set menu the night we went. That's okay but I wish we were told that if we ate at the bar area we could have ordered off the regular menu.
Food was amazing! We had the Valentine's Prix Fixe Menu which opened with Oysters (delish but only two of them), two appetizers which was a Halibut soup with fennel & a Lobster quiche (super flavourful!). The main was a shared plate of roasted potatoes, large roasted mushrooms, truffled potatoes & some sort of mixture including king oysters & crab. Dessert was a coconut truffle with pineapple, cherries, and this wonderful white chocolate layering. The Chase Fish & Oyster was outstanding! Service was great, & not to loud - Great choice! Will Def go again!
Great food. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. Food was served in very well timed fashion.
Will definitely return!
Went on Valentines Day and expected the push to turn tables with only a set menu. One appetizer was inedible and replaced with another. Overall food was OK. We expected the evening to go fast and it did.
As the restaurant filled with the first dinner wave at 6 PM, they decided to increase the background music to a horrific level until many started to complain.
Wait staff obviously overwhelmed at times delivering food to wrong tables, etc.
Overall a disappointing evening.
PS- why no coat check in the winter when all have heavy winter jackets, etc. With the extra row of tables squeezed in front near window, there was no privacy, it was very loud and coats had to go on the back of chairs with no room!
