Service was pretty bad, from the security at the hotel entrance to our server. Server took forever to come to the table every time.
Food was okay if you enjoy British cuisine but I personally wouldn’t recommend.
Our appetizer was great, as was my partner’s entree. The beef Wellington was very underwhelming. It seems like they forgot any sort of seasoning. Cocktails were great, but wine by the glass was not. It’s also very loud, and I was seated closer to other parties than my date.
Excellent meal, pastry chef clearly incredibly talented. Reasonably priced and good value, often rare for many Michelin one starred restaurants. Ambience is particularly perfect for a cold, winter's night. Look forward to returning.
About as bad as it could be without feeling the need to complain. The service was amateur - equivalent to a diner with wine service. The food was fine - nothing special but not bad. The wine list is offensive. Almost 0 bottles in stock below $100. We had Sheppards pie and fish and chips - hardly the kind of meal to need to pair with a $200+ bottle of wine. The only high note was the toffee pudding. My guess is this will be closed shortly. Too bad because it sounded promising.
most incredible meal in NYC. Everything from the service to the drinks to the food was impeccable. I will be returning here - get the scotch egg, mac/cheese with ox, beef wellington, and the fish and chips! Also ask for bread - they do an incredible sourdough baked to perfection.
I brought my partner here for their birthday and my expectations were blown out of the water. Leo waited on us for the evening and they were so helpful - fantastic recommendations from the menu and very attentive (but never overbearing) service. The scotch eggs were perfect, the steak tartare is the best I've ever had, and the skirt steak was perfectly tender. The folks at the Clocktower made a special night even better.
The beef wellington & sticky toffee pudding are the stars here. You may have an urge to get the fish & chips thinking its a classic and will be unbeatable, however it is fairly basic. The only reasons I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because service was very friendly and experience driven, but we were left alone at our tabel for up to 15 minutes at a time with no explanation on where our next dish was.
Martini is also delicious here
This is not a fine restaurant. Avoid.
We loved our experience at the Clocktower, and we hope to return again. My dining companion had some transitory eating restrictions, but we want to go back when we are both culinarily wide open. Our reservation was very early, 5pm, because we needed to make it to a show. They had no problem getting us out within our time frame, but yet, the meal didn't feel rushed, and the service was great. The food, however, was excellent. We both loved everything that we ordered, including the cocktails. We didn't stay for dessert because we were stuffed, but we each had a "Snack," a "Starter," and a "Main." Placing the meal in a warm ambiance with natural wood, high ceilings, and walls adorned with a myriad of photos made our meal most enjoyable. Definitely would return.
Beautiful space. Lovely, cozy yet elegant bar for well-crafted cocktails. Comfortable, well spaced table seating in the dining room. Diverse menu. The food was excellent.
The only down side was the wine list, which did not provide any entry point for less than ~$250/bottle, and the prices wen tup from there. Thankfully, they offered a small selection fo Wines by the glass which were excellent.
There were guests fighting with the wait staff. The server attending to us was inattentive and the food roll out was immensely slow. We had two course and was there for 4hrs because of slow food roll out. Food was good though , other than the chaotic atmosphere. I’d go back and see if everything else changed just based off the food.
Had a wonderful holiday celebration meal with my family. Foo, drink and service we all great!
Service was impeccable and I really enjoyed the swanky decor. I def recommend the warm toffee pudding! The pudding is amazing.
Wonderful experience across the board. Went to The Clocktower for brunch on a Sunday and it was everything you'd expect from a Michelin rated restaurant. The service from start to finish was first class, friendly and attentive. I had the ham and cheddar omelet while my guest had the egg white omelet. Both were perfectly presented with a side of greens and they were both well prepared and delicious. We followed up with berry danishes that were also quite good.
I actually booked the reservation not realizing the level of restaurant I was booking. I had actually intended a more casual style experience but honestly I'm exceptionally happy with my choice. As far as value, the prices weren't much higher than a typical hotel restaurant in New York, but the quality of the experience and the food was so much better.
Honestly, it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish.
In a very pretty setting but the experience still fell far short from what it should have been for a Michelin rated chef in residence. Bread arrived on the table following starters and only when we prompted the server for it. The standouts are the starters and both were very tasty, exactly as described on the menu. The main courses were unimpressive and took too long to arrive, one was barely warm which made us wonder what the delay could have been on the other dish that this one was already cooling for so long. Dessert was very good and if you're looking for a post evening treat, this would be a good choice for that.
The most glaring downside to the evening was the wine list. It's completely against every rule of adept beverage directors to have a wine list that's so off the charts expensive. Few bottles under $100 and none we would have chosen even under $200. As years long NYC diners thoroughly delighted to dine out often, it's a terrible surprise to see expense account wine lists still appear even in a hotel setting. In a time when the restaurant industry could use all the traffic possible it's a shame that this wine list was such a disaster.
Would not go back.
We came for our anniversary and it was a wonderful evening. They treated us to champagne for the occasion which was a very thoughtful surprise. The steak tartar was a fantastic starter. Our entrees were also decadent. We will gladly return here.
Service was amazing. Food was incredible. Waiter was friendly, patient, and knowledgeable
Very lovely setting for a holiday celebration meal with friends.. good menu, well prepared and presented food, solid service.. so glad they reopened..
Great Wellington and Truffle Risotto. The wine list doesn’t disappoint.
The atmosphere and decor are great. Might suggest showing off the view… Al Windows were shut. But still wonderful in every way
Lovely room, charming staff, delicious food. And by NYC prices it was very good value. Maybe the UK celebrity chef association doesn’t extend across the Atlantic. Fantastic Scotch Egg to start, delicious pork chop for main and banoffee sundae shared between us. Few glasses of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and a 30 year old Madeira port to finish. This was a pleasant surprise to find and we really enjoyed the evening. Service was slow but friendly, otherwise no hint of an issue. Recommended.
Excellent food and service. We were disappointed that the servers won’t remember to wish us on our anniversary when my reservation note explicitly stated the occasion that we were celebrating our second wedding anniversary. Not fitting for such a high rated restaurant.
ambiente muy lindo, comida maravillosa, súper rica!
Great service! Trouble with my bagel with lox. They forgot the capers and the bagel was barely toaster. Server took care of both issues quickly.
Miss the bread from before but still delicious as always!
Beautiful experience. Ambience, food, staff and service were all spectacular.
The food, the service, and the setting tops if you’re looking for that grand, old, clubby feel with English comfort food to match. The pork chops are fantastic. The bar is quite elegant, lively, and very festive. Highly recommended.
The bussers were overly attentive and the waitstaff was noticeably aloof. We were never offered a second drink and by the time we saw the server to ask for one, we left because we weren’t interested in staying any longer.
The food was pretty underwhelming; oysters were poorly shucked, beef Wellington was incredibly bland.
The food was exquisite. We had the scotch eggs, mushroom soup, rabbit pies and sticky toffee pudding. I haven't had this enjoyable a dining experience in quite a while. The service was wonderful and kind.
it was amazing eve!the food was good!amazing coctails. deffently we will come back
Such a wonderful, warm and cozy spot for breakfast. The food was incredibly satisfying and the ambience was even better.
Nice talking with to Joe about being a wine doctor(sommelier). The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly.
Loved the ambient, the charm of the space and the service was amazing
Amazing food, great service and ambience. We will be back!
Excellent food and service in a fantastic interior!
