I went to this place with my girlfriend. This is the best high tea I ever had after I came to Canada, would definitely come back again. I spent the whole afternoon here and it was really a good time for me.
The High Tea at the Prince of Wales has all of the features that you look for: lovely treats, great tea, and lovely venue. The serving staff is a little disorganized, however but I would still highly recommend this location and their High Tea.
Enjoyed the ambience, especially on a cold gray day. Scones were outstanding. Sweet options less so, partly because only one person liked coconut, and the vanilla items were bland. Sandwiches were so-so; surprised that vegetarian option at tea was so skimpy (only cucumber). Suggest that the chicken salad be put in a sandwich or croissant and not in puff pastry because the filling is too heavy. Tea choices were delicious.
The place was horrible! We had reservations for 1 PM, there was no hostess to greet us we waited 15 min and then had to find someone from the hotel, to find her...she was in the back socializing.
The sandwiches were soggy and old at least a day. The cutlery was dirty and the tea wear was stained. The silverware was full of detergent stains....
To top it off, there was a huge thick cobweb above my head that was going to fall at any moment.
The waitresses did not introduce herself, and her clothing had bleach stains on it.
The hotel did not have fine bone china, there for the cups were heavy....they us some cheap ware. They tried to make it an “English High Tea” it was not!
Lovely afternoon tea experience :)
I was impressed by the quality of the tea (and the good size of the tea pot), the food, and the creme fraiche!!
Our time at the Prince of Wales for afternoon tea was an absolute delight. The chef was very accommodating and responsive to dietary restriction. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, willing to give his opinion, yet listening to what the client was looking for, outstanding service. The afternoon tea was good, albeit the fact the devon/clotted cream was not authentic as it is very difficult to get large quantity in Canada and the replacement they use is more than adequate. I would definitely recommend the Drawing Room to anyone looking for a nice afternoon tea.
My grandmother, aunt, sister and I took my mom for afternoon tea to celebrate her birthday. The staff were so friendly and very accommodating - we had to move chairs around a few times to make sure my nana was comfortable. We had a very lovely and special afternoon that we will remember for years to come!
Had a great afternoon having high tea. Food was amazing as was the tea, service, and ambiance. Would definitely recommend.
Disappointed in selection of teas (need more choices of unflavoured black teas). Ambiance, service and decor were lovely, very photogenic! Pumpernickel bread was dry on the sandwiches.
Grace our server was amazing. So friendly and helpful and a delight. :). Ty Grace 😄. We enjoyed ourselves for afternoon tea - loved ito
Tea was enjoyable as usual. I rated service as good this time - we finished our Kir Royale and waited 30 min to have our tea brought to us. Twice being told that our tea was coming. Not a huge deal as we were not in a rush
The staff were all wonderful but I did find the food to be a little expensive for the quality.
It was the perfect setting for my bday. As a Brit I was transported back in time and across the pond. I thoroughly enjoyed my time sipping tea and eating scones with a loved one.
We waited 15 minutes for the server to come to our table. Very under staffed. The tea was lovely. The sandwiches were good. The sweets were under par and they did not taste fresh baked. The best part was the warm scone and butter. The jam did not seem to be home made either. Such an expensive treat I would expect higher quality food and service.
They claimed not to have our reservation and asked us to wait 30 minutes, we refused and went elsewhere.
My wife had always wanted to do an afternoon tea. We had a great experience.
Absolutely love The Prince if Wales. Candlelight Tea was a perfect date night and Ben is a very knowledgeable and attentive server.
Service was impeccable, surroundings and ambiance were truly sublime.
Just the high tea was slightly disappointing, as some of the pastries were dry, tasted as if they were made day before and stored.
Other than that, was a highly enjoyable high tea.
As a previous guest of the Prince of Wales, I have never had the opportunity to visit the drawing room for tea. When booking my reservation through OpenTable I was asked if the visit was for a reason (I indicated birthday). I have to say, I was somewhat disappointed. First of all, that the beginning as we had to wait over 20 min past the reservation time when they clearly had empty tables (a few that did not get utilized while we were there). We were rushed through the ordering of tea, so much so that I just picked one and did not even know that the box that was placed under our menus was the tea selection box (we had not the opportunity to look). From there the service did get better but was sporadic and at the end very attentive (perhaps to enhance tip consideration). The entire time there was no mention of the birthday and I was not able to prompt the server without my guest knowing. In regards to the food, the tea was delightful, the scones were delectable, the sandwiches were ok (with the exception of the bread feeling a little crunchy like they had been left out a little too long). We did order the additional cheese tray which was tasty and by the time came we were too full for the tempting treats at the top of our tier. Would I go back, yes as the ambience and historical aspect of the facility are inviting and intriguing.
My husband and I had a very lovely experience. The ambience was elegant and refined. The food was plentiful and delicious. Our server Mendi was very polite, helpful and gracious. We were not rushed at all. Highly recommend it as an activity if in the area.
This was my 3rd time for afternoon tea but this time I brought my daughters and mother and father in-law. They enjoyed the afternoon and it was a lovely time as always. It made the occasion very enjoyable.
I took my 9 year old daughter for a mommy daughter date... she was so excited and we both had a wonderful time. She can't wait to go back for some more Earl grey tea and the cucumber sandwiches.. thank u for a wonderful experience
We had a wonderful time. The festive atmosphere was a bonus.
Love the Afternoon tea at the Prince of Wales Drawing Room - we come here several times a year. Afternoon tea comes with your choice of tea (highly recommend the Heavenly Cream, a cream earl grey) plus a tiered selection of 3 tea sandwiches (this time it was ham and cheese, cucumber, and a really delicious turkey salad sandwich) , desserts (we had a shortbread cookie, macaroon, raspberry cupcake, and mini bagel with goat cheese), and a scone with jasmine-infused raisins with choice of creme fraiche, butter, or jam. It is a bit pricey but totally worth it! The atmosphere is lovely, very old-world looking with plush chairs and a patio room if you like a view. We also had the selection of cheeses with tea, a bit cheaper than the afternoon tea - it was a cheddar, oka, triple cream brie and blue cheese (I'm not a fan of blue cheese but the cheddar and brie were delicious).
I took my granddaughters for "High Tea with Gramma" as part of their Christmas gift. They loved it. It was classy and very Downton Abbey! We made a beautiful memory that afternoon.
Gluten-free options were delicious and ready when we arrived.
Had a very special day with my little princess ! Highly recommended
Server was lovely. Very sweet.
Scones, very good. Sandwiches, fine, not excellent. Cakes/cookies not special. Ambience very nice. Service a bit slow.
This was an indulgence for me and it did everything neccessary. I needed some time to relax, unwind and be by myself with some TLC. My wait staff was lovely, adjusting my selections and then leaving me alone and just checking in a couple of times. The tea was hot and the sandwich/sweet selection was just lovely. Even though I don't like raisins, the scone was amazing :-) Next time I will remember to order a special non-raisin scone.
Thanks for another lovely afternoon.
We enjoyed an afternoon tea on New Years Eve at 3pm.It was fantastic. There was a beautiful selection of tea as well as sparkling wines and craft beer and sherry to chose from.We ordered two different teas and the we both ordered the Prince of Wales tea which included the tower of sandwiches, pastry, tea biscuits and sweets as well as our separate plated cheese fruit and crackers .It was a very filling tea a lot of food!Service was excellent and the room was beautiful. What a wonderful start to our New Years getaway! My husband was very impressed and agreed it was a wonderful experience which we will do again! We took a takeaway box of the extras that we couldn't finish to our room and enjoyed them the next day!
