About

This restaurant is permanently closed. Welcome to The Fifth Ticket! Home of the Gold Medal Plates winning dish for St. John's in 2017 under the guidance of our Executive Chef Nick Jewczyk.

Since 2015, we have been providing our guests with an innovative culinary experience that we call “approachable dining” in an atmosphere that welcomes all. The concept was born in the heart and soul of St. John’s, Newfoundland on the famous Water Street.

St. John’s being one of the oldest cities in North America, it was known as the seafood trading outpost to the Basques, French, Spanish, Portuguese and English. Till this day you always find the freshest catch on Water Street.
With such a rich history it seemed natural for us to focus on food created from local ingredients.

Our chefs turn these colourful and wonderful ingredients into distinctive textures and flavours which are inspired by the diversity and history of this beautiful street.

This place closed and they did not have the decency to advise us. We now have a useless gift certificate and a lot of anger. Hope you can help.

This restaurant closed for business the day of my reservation. I was not notified. My family and I got ready and we drove 1/2 hour to get to the restaurant which is located in downtown area. Spent 20 mins looking for a parking spot. It was cold, windy and raining at the time. Finally located a spot. Parked and walked 10 mins to the restaurant to find a note on the door saying it was closed due to plumbing issues. Found out about an hour later by our local news that it was closed for good. Very annoyed and disappointed as it was also my daughters bday dinner

The atmosphere was amazing however our service was slow and our food took an hour and 20 minutes to get to us. This is the only reason I won't be going again because the food was good.

The Fifth Ticket is my brunch go to with the best eggs Benny in town. George and Owen are the service dream team and the kitchen never fails to deliver an incredible meal for a great value! Always my recommendation for friends looking for a new place to try.

The food was alright to eat, nothing special about the flavours or selection. The portions were extremely small. The fries were super tiny In length and width (like thinner than the tong on the fork). I’d expect better dining for the price I paid. The waitress I had was also bad. I was watching other waiting staff take care of their tables at least 3 times faster than our waitress did.

Things started great but soon went off the rails. We were well greeted and seated. Seemed like a normal evening out. However, We soon felt totally neglected. Huge wait for cocktails and our Wines. Server started off great but, after the apps were served, We never saw her again until we went to reception to ask for our bill. Other staff tried to jump in at times but, we ended up with tuna apps, shared Mussels on the tiny table when our mains arrived.Tried to pair the wines, but that proved futile with all courses on the table at the same time. The main dish for each of us was the Lamb pasta. It was obviously home made pasta but, it seemed like it had been left sitting. The edges were rubbery and quite dried out. When we finished our mains we sat with nothing to drink for nearly 20 mins. Our server was no where to be seen. We flagged down another server who brought us a dessert menu, but we really felt like an inconvenience to the establishment by this point. So, we waited another 10 mins or so for someone to come back so we could request our bill. No one came so we went to the Hosts station and asked for our bill. Suddenly, Our Server appeared and asked how everything was? I told her we felt neglected. She responded, "Yeah, I had a large group come in". So there you have it. Not a stellar first impression. Went out of my way to report this to the Restaurant but, their Facebook page manager drop communication as soon as I sent the above details. I've waited three days to give them a fair chance to respond. And, here we are feeling ignored and neglected......again.

I had the beef/steak I found it okay but not that great of a cut.

The overall feel of the place was fine....the service was good...but for having to put down a $20 deposit per person (9 of us went) and having reservations confirmed one hour before we arrive I had the impression that this place must be a big deal ?!? Lucky we got a table kind of thing.

I was with a group who go to different restaurants monthly to try places around St.Johns and new food but I don’t really care if I go back to Fifth ticket...I tried it and it was okay but not gonna make a second trip anytime soon.

Although the restaurant was a really nice setting and food was good the service wasn't there. We waited much too long each time for a simple drink or ask for refill or just desert menu.

Wonderful ambience to this place. There's a lot of light coming from the front windows and if you sit beside them, you feel like you're almost sitting on a sidewalk patio.

The duck with succotash had fascinating flavours and beautiful presentation, but the cooks could have so much better with the mushroom tagliatelle! There were very few mushrooms proportionally to pasta, and the bread on the side had the texture of generic store-bought white.

I would come back here in the future.

My first experience at fifth ticket was excellent! We actually went on a Tuesday for Bogo burger night. The ambience was enjoyable, the burgers delicious and the bill totally affordable! I would recommend this as a place to try, especially for Bogo burgers!!

First of all, I will say that the service was fantastic. Our waitress was very friendly, helpful and checked in with us just the right amount. So thank-you!
Unfortunately, our party was seated extremely close to the kitchen and those of use at the far end of the table nearest the kitchen were not included in the nice, cozy, candlelit ambience the rest of the patrons of the restaurant got to enjoy. Instead, we were seated near the harsh, bright lights emanating from the kitchen.
The food I ordered was tasty overall (the burger and truffle fries), but for the portion sizes and overall taste, I feel that the prices do not match. Too pricy overall for what you get.

Our waiter George created a wonderful dining experience for myself and my girlfriend on our first anniversary. He was very welcoming, was always there if we needed something, and is one of the primary reasons (next to the absolutely delicious food) that we will be returning again asap! The food was prepared within a reasonable time, (a great meal cannot be created in 5 minutes, it takes time to incorporate flavours like that) and the overall atmosphere was fabulous. As previously stated we will 100% return and we look forward to our next meal!

This was our first time! We were not disappointed... There was nothing left on the plates! Wow every bite was delicious. I love how there is a short menu not a ten page book where you are trying to decide for so long. It was easy, affordable, the atmosphere was great. All over great time. We will definitely be back!

We have been to the Fifth Ticket before and loved it but tonight the service was extremely slow. We waited almost 45 minutes between courses, with no explanation from the staff. Not the way to handle food delays. When there are exceptional delays or screwups in the kitchen, acknowledge them, be honest and apologize. We received neither and for that reason, it will be awhile before we return.

Great food, really poor service though, waiting for drinks when the restaurant is not at capacity. Table waiter (Connor) appeared bored, and very much that he was doing us a favour. If it wasn't for etiquette, I wouldn't have tipped this person.

This was our first time visiting, and I would return definitely, although I've heard that the restaurant is closing down, so this may not be possible.

Had a wonderful experience here. The server was very nice and helpful. I have celiac disease and the server went to talk to the chef to see what food could be modifed for me. There were a few options. Unfortunately the kitchen had been experimenting with a new recipe and I was unable to order anything from the fryer. But still had a lot to choose from. I will be going back again, but checking if the fryer will be safe for celiac friendly food.

This was our second visit here, the first was not so memorable but our friends wanted to go here, I was so glad that we gave it a second chance. This visit was perfect for a night out with friends, the food, service and ambiance was great for a Friday night! Definitely going back again. We had the house burger, and the steak both we perfect!

Overall this restaurant did not meet my expectations. Menu had limited selections. Three members of my party had steak and they all seemed cold. One had to be sent back as it was undercooked based on what was requested. It didn’t return much better.
Prices were high compared to the quality of the food.
