Not what I expected. Over 2 hours for dinner. (2 courses took dessert to go.) Waitress was over worked but she did the best she could. Food was good but nothing new or different. No specials. View at sunset was beautiful but not worth the meal.

We dined twice at the Flying V. Both times service was awesome. We were very disappointed with our dinners. The baby back ribs were way overdone, not at all juicy, nearly meatless (from a skinny pig?), & the caramelization was way past the point of yumminess—let’s face It, they were burnt. The bowl of guacamole was tasty, but at $18 was ridiculously overpriced (however, the chips were light & tasty). Breakfast was surprisingly yummy, but like most everything was overpriced. The breaky menu was neither online, nor posted, nor even available at the front desk. Dining on the patio was lovely. And again, service for both meals was awesome.

My family and I had a delicious dinner on the patio. The filet and rib-eye steaks, as well as the salmon and halibut dishes were superb. Desserts ordered were churros and creme brûlée and were very tasty. We look forward to visiting again on our next trip to Tucson.

My friends and I went there to eat on Friday night. The service was slow and the filets were full of gristle. The horseradish potatoes looked like 6 small hard marbles and had no horseradish flavor, the mashed potatoes were fine. Then the waitress rang all 3 orders in wrong, I guess she mixed up the credit cards and now we have to wait 2 days to get that sorted out as she was unable to cancel her error. I felt like we got the “B” team. I had been there 2weeks ago and had a wonderful experience

We heard a lot about this restaurant and were eager to try it. Unfortunately, we were not at all impressed. We opted for the course menu - five courses plus a sorbet between the fish and red meat courses. The courses were comically small, even for a multi-course meal and each course was room temperature at best. None of the food was hot. My dinner partner commented: "your scallops at home are better." We made the reservation and indicated "anniversary" in the special occasion box. No one acknowledged our special occasion. They did, however, acknowledge a table not far from ours "I hear we're celebrating a special occasion tonight." Whatever. Over $210 for two. Won't be back.

We come to The Flying V every year for my birthday and the experience is always outstanding. I am the type to always order to same menu item (exciting, I know), but I just cannot get enough of the scallops! I think they are the best in town. They are fresh, light, delicious, and the sauce complements the dish just perfectly. The SO, however, always tries something new and every item has been delightful (I always snag a few bites of his just to taste it). We usually share a bottle of wine, enjoy our dinner, indulge in a tasty dessert, and then finish the rest of our wine out on the patio either by the fire or standing up and enjoying the beautiful sights and sounds of the waterfall. They do it well at The Flying V and we highly recommend it to everyone. Cheers!

Booked our 34th wedding anniversary dinner at the Flying V after discussing post-COVID dining options with the hotel. I was assured there was the option of outdoor seating, and when I asked about bringing our own wine, was also assured that there was a corkage fee. The day of our reservation, I received a voice mail from the restaurant telling us there was not, in fact any outside seating options and we would have to eat inside. After bringing our special wine, we were told they could not serve outside beverages. However, our server Preston was kind and gracious, and the food was fabulous. The only thing that marred the experience was the confusion and miscommunication. Hopefully, after things return to a more normal setting, that will improve. It is challenging at best to find fine dining options when you are concerned about virus risk.

Firstly, there is no outdoor dining at the moment. It was very upsetting to only find this out when we got to the restaurant as this is part of the reason we booked. The food was very good but,, I have to say, the service was not what you would expect at such a high price point. Our server did not engage with us at all, seemed disinterested and, frankly, didn’t seem to care about our experience.

I live close to Ventana resort, but rarely go there. Now I remember why. Look, this place sits in an amazing location. I've lived in Tucson for over 45 years and used to come to this area before this resort even existed (it was nicer then honestly). I still routinely hike in Ventana canyon. The resort is fine for what it is...which is a place for folks to experience the Sonoran Desert. It might also be a place that exploits those with more dollars than sense. But getting back to the Flying V, this isn't a place you come to for the quality of food...which honestly is mediocre at best. This is a place you come for ambiance. I and my girlfriend made the 3 minute drive from our house on a stormy monsoon night for dinner. The wait staff were all wearing masks and there appeared to be at least "some" social distancing in place. Both good things. The not-so-good was the food. The waitress was hawking a "special" tomahawk steak "for only $170". Wait...WHAT? Are you f'ing serious? Yeah hard pass on that one. My gf is vegetarian. There were no large choices specifically for vegetarians or vegans. The waitress said she could order some of the sides from the entree menu...which she did. Look, if you're going to charge "these" kind of prices? You better damn well have more vegetarian options. Back to the "steak" thing. A tomahawk is basically a fancy ribeye cut with ~ 5" of bone left on it. No one eats the bone and they had a ribeye for ~$45 on the menu. So for about 4 times less $, I can get basically the same steak and you keep the bone? Ok. This should be a tip; "we only want your $ due to our self-imposed status". The steak I received was...mediocre. Look, I get charging tourist prices to a degree but this is ridiculous. Especially in a restaurant-heavy town like Tucson. Tourists could get a limo ride into town and back, get a FAR better meal at dozens more eateries, for less than 1/3rd the $ this place charges...and still save $. This is exactly what I recommend

Highly recommend for both the food and the service. The waiter greeted us by calling us by our last name (a nice touch). My wife had the scallops which were outstanding! I had the halibut that was a little over cooked and dry. After finishing most of it (it was a large portion), I mentioned that to the waiter just so he could pass it on to the chef. When our bill came, to our surprise, they had taken off over half the cost of the halibut (a very class act). It's pricey but the portions are quite large and merit the price. Could not have been a nicer evening out.
