Good but not quite up to what I have experienced in the past. Server server overwhelmed at times.
Great food and atmosphere
Server very helpful
Great time celebrating my wife’s birthday. Food and service was great!!
We are from St Louis, in town for graduation. Ate here last year while visiting....enormously impressed with the food! I knew I had to bring my husband. We enjoyed every single dish set down in front of us!
Excellent food! Very creative. Large portions. My wife and I had a wonderful dinner on our date-night.
This was my second visit and I was not disappointed. Everyone loved their food. I had the duck, my daughter had the soft-shell crab, my son had the shrimp and grits and my husband had the scallops. Not a disappointment in the bunch. Also shared some buffalo pickles-yum. Cocktails were yummy, as was the blueberry lemonade. We shared two desserts, the lemon cheesecake and the half-baked blondie with toasted marshmallow. Loved it all. We will be back.
A little to crowed, they should be in a larger place.
But food surronding was good, took wife here for Mothers Day.
Went for Mother’s Day brunch and the food was outstanding as always!
My wife and kids went for Mother’s Day and enjoyed the experience. It was our first time, but we will definitely be back for dinner.
The Food Market never disappoints! Always amazing food, and the great service is consistent. Took my mom here for the first time for Mother’s Day, and as usual they were awesome. My wife and I have been here for anniversaries in the past. Can’t say enough about how much we enjoy it.
Excellent experience ! Really does live up to the hype.
Tried Food Market for the first time on a Saturday evening. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was a bit hit or miss. I gotta say, the bread with olive oil served before the meal was a-mazing. It was super soft focaccia bread that was slightly crispy on the outside and it tasted just flat-out fantastic - like a Domino’s breadstick cranked up to 1,000. We ordered the foie gras mushrooms, spicy, cheesy, herby, creamy, winey, garlicky shrimp, and confit duck wings as small plats to share and split the grilled bronzini. I thought the mushrooms were delicious, but my husband (who, to be fair, isn’t a big mushroom fan) thought they were rubbery and tough. The shrimp were probably the most disappointing dish. There were only 4 rather small shrimp drowning in a lackluster, bland cream sauce. It really didn’t taste like much of anything; not very cheesy, herby or winey. Just cream, spice & meh. The wings tasted amazing and the buttermilk Brie sauce served with them was very creamy and a perfect compliment. The only issue we both had was the lack of meat on them. The meat that we did find was fantastic, but all in all there really wasn’t much of it.
Finally, the bronzini was a winner. It was a substantial portion, great for sharing since we got the 3 smaller dishes as well. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the potatoes & green beans served with it were also super tasty. Overall, I think we’ll return at some point to try some other things on the menu and avoid d the shrimp.
Service and food were outstanding. Interesting choices and good flavors. Service got a tiny bit slow when they got slammed. However, our server steered us in the right direction with decisions and gave accurate explanations when we had questions. We had a 5:00 reservation (when they open) and they were busy right away. I highly recommend a recommendation. Great cocktails and dessert. Only criticisms are the tables are too close for my personal taste and the acoustics are off.
Love The Food Market, love all the food. A very upbeat, energetic atmosphere. The cream of crab soup is the best you will ever eat. All the food is fresh.
Food Market is always delicious and has creative dishes. Great place to bring friends, family, and dates!
Quirky menu -- but in a good way. If you're looking for straightforward soup/salad, it can be done. But restaurant's specialty and fun is to have food that's more interesting. Relatively well priced, though food can be on the higher end if you order apps. Apps always most fun of the meal.
The food was as incredible as it was unique. The buffalo pickles were easily the best I had ever tasted. Our waiter was kind and patient when it came to explaining the many strange dishes on the menu.
This place is a treasure, and I hope our paths cross again.
food was very good well presented service was attentive will dine there my next visit to baltimore
The waitress was phenomenal. The front of house was not... there were 14 open tables and when we walked in at 7:05 we were told it would be a 45 minute wait. We went outside and booked a 7:15 reservation, went in and were reluctantly sat. They didn't check us in on open table. When leaving I asked for that to be fixed and was told it was automatic because we were 20 minutes late for our reservation ... that's fine except we were actually early! The hostess couldn't have been more rude and spiteful.
Amazing meal. Food was delicious. Service was great. Best meal of our trip.
Amazing and creative food. This place NEVER disappoints.
Really sad not to be able to recommend this restaurant for dinner if you want to have a conversation without shouting. The food and drink were phenomenal as was the service, but the noise level was deafening, almost migraine inducing. Because the space is so small, there's really no area that's any quieter than any other. We had a 7pm reservation on a weeknight, realized we could actually hear each other as we waited for check around 9:30 and, looking around, realized a lot of tables had cleared. Probably would recommend with 5 stars if you didn't mind waiting until late night for dinner, or if you were alone and didn't need to talk to anyone.
Service was fantastic. Everyone we interacted with was professional and helpful, went above and beyond. The food was very good but a little overpriced for the experience. Overall was a great experience and would return.
I love this restaurant. I think I’ve tried everything on the menu. Yes, the noise gets a little loud. I take my mother here early.
My favorite place in Hampden
Great brunch spot with enough choices to make anyone happy. The pretzel and beer cheese was particularly delicious. Will definitely be back.
This place never disappoints. Great food, great environment, great staff, perfect.
The food was really good and we were seated quickly. The only thing that was weird was I got a text message to confirm my reservation which I confirmed via text then I got a call to confirm the reservation the next day
Loved my experience. Food is superb and so so delicious. Staff was very nice, and knowledgable in the menu.
The entrees ordered were okay. They just were not anything to get excited about or recommend to others. If we return, then we will order something different.
We had pre-show dinner celebrating our daughter’s film being in the MICA Animation Festival. The food and the drinks were amazing! Our server was excellent! Perfect start to a great night.
One of our favorites, but too noisy!!!
We were seated over a half hour late on a Sunday night despite Open Table having all time slots open. We were not alone in the wait. Only one staff member was appropriate and apologetic. There was no floor manager on duty to make amends. Food was very good as was server. But not being able to pace the tables and pulling in too many customers is a management problem which tainted a Birthday dinner.
A bit noisy but freshly prepared meal that was tasty and flavorful
Food Market is one of my favorite restaurants. I am never disappointed. The food is always amazing, along with the service. My group consisted of 6 people, we had an amazing time. Can’t wait to visit again.
Just wonderful food, great service and edgy Hamden atmosphere with a little polish.
I love the Food Market and would recommend it to anyone. However, we made a reservation for 11:30am and didn't get our table until 12pm. The food is still amazing but I hope management can do a better job of coordinating booking in the future.
I absolutely love it here.
Always amazing!!! We love it here. Wish we could go more. Please open one in Bel Air Md. You would kill it!! We are dying for more places like The Food Market 👍.
had another wonderful meal here. Loved it. French Onion Ring!
Decided to check The Food Market out for a little more upscale date night, and was not disappointed! I would recommend making reservations ahead of time, as it did seem to get pretty crowded as the evening went on. The valet parking is very convenient as well, since it's never easy to find a parking spot in Hampden! The staff was friendly and attentive, and the service was quick.
Everything was delicious - we started out with the "big ole mozzarella sticks" (10/10 would recommend! they're a foot long each!). Second course consisted of the Baltimore Club and the Roasted Beef Short Rib. The club had both shrimp salad and a crab cake. I know us Marylanders are picky when it comes to these two things and we know what we like; The Food Market did not disappoint. And the short rib.... well, that dish was the highlight of the visit for sure! I absolutely love a good roast and this one tasted even better than ones I've had at home (sorry, mom!). For dessert, we chose the Vanilla Latte Creme Brulee topped with blackberries and a little coconut macaroon. Just scrumptious. We will definitely be back!
