We had a nice meal and the setting and service were good. It just feels very expensive for something not that special. The starters were ok- goat curd and torched mackerel, mains were lovely, steak and venison but soooo expensive at £32 and £26 so they should be.... not quite as special as last year and noticeably more expensive. It was also very quiet so very little ambience. We came for our anniversary and had a pleasant eve but will probably go elsewhere next year. Sorry!
First was told did not have booking.
Then was left for a long time without drinks or menus to look at
When finally Sat down to dine, was told not got any food choices for us!
Have eaten in alot of great restaurants and do far this is one of my top places to eat. The food is great well recommended
We had a superb meal at the Greedy Goose on Tuesday, to celebrate my sister's move to Plymouth. It was truly exceptional. This seemed to be all about enticing the best possible flavour from every single ingredient. Everything was so vivid and delicious, we actually got the giggles out of sheer joy.
Excellent surroundings and service. Food was superb. Recommended without hesitation.
I have enjoyed meeting friends for the set lunch at the Greedy Goose for a number of years. The quality of the food remains high and the service is good. However, the cost has disproportionately increased while the choice and quantity has decreased. A friend recently suggested it should be called ‘the Hungry Goose’! We are likely to try other places with good food reviews for our future get togethers.
Exceptional quality food beautifully presented in the oldest building in Plymouth. Location very convenient for central Plymouth. Lunchtime menu is particularly good value
Very enjoyable evening
We had a lovely time here for my fiancé’s birthday. The food was wonderful and our compliments to the chef. Great wine too. We did at times feel the atmosphere was lacking with no music you felt as if you couldn’t speak too loudly. The waitresses were nice if a little young and inexperienced. They seemed a little hurried at times and lacked that personal touch. However, they were attentive. We would return for the fab food and hope the atmosphere isn’t quite as cold next time.
A lovely experience from start to finish. Beautiful, skilfully cooked imaginative local food - the chefs put in so much effort into the food it is a delight. The service is impeccable too, we would highly reccommend this to any serious foodies.
The staff were warm and welcoming. The table linen crisp and fresh. I wish I could praise the food. The skate wing was good the rest of the meal, not so good. This is the second time I have been to The Greedy Goose. Both times I have been disappointed.
Fine dining in an ambient setting. The food is delicious and served well. The historic building adds to the atmosphere. Would recommend a visit and will be returning in the near future.
A fantastic restaurant in a great location. We went before the Theatre but will be back again very soon to have more time. Delicious food and a fabulous wine and champagne list. Highly recommended!
7 course taste menu without flight. Very good, not cheap but , Hey, you get what you pay for and the food was very good. We will go back
The restaurant and food were lovely but our evening was spoilt by the attitude of the gentleman who was 'front of house'. He seemed completely disinterested in us and there was no effort to make us feel welcome.
We were a party of 8 and when we arrived, we were asked to sit in reception for pre dinner drinks. After five minutes we asked at the bar if we could order drinks and were told to sit down. After 15 minutes we were still waiting and had to ask for a second time at the bar if we could order some drinks.
Some people arrived after us and were served straight away. We felt uncomfortable and it wasn't an enjoyable experience. The attitude of front of house was very poor and not what we would expect from this type of establishment.
Other than this the restaurant staff were helpful and the food was very good. However because of our experience I would not recommend this restaurant.
It was a special occasion, my wife's birthday we booked the table for 7 pm.
We got there at 6:45 Really warm welcome really helpful, offered as a dribk while we was waiting for are table. Once we sat down for are meal we both felt relaxed we both had crab for starters as soon as are forks was down , we was served are mains. We both didn't like that same again once finished mains deserts was there felt rushed so we wont be going there again going to try barbican kitchen fingers crossed
I love this restaurant and have been dozens of times. However, this time we were asked 6 times if we’d finished with the nibbles and as they only brought them out a couple minutes before the starter I would have thought the answer was clear. We were overcharged by £10 which was rectified but if I hadn’t checked the bill you would have made an extra £10. Also, I feel the breads have gone downhill, don’t seem fresh and very hard and chewy! Drinks were always carried through from reception to restaurant but this time we had to carry our own. I know it’s a minor thing but it was a nice touch and added to the experience so I don’t know why it has stopped.
Lovely meal at a lunchtime with friends as a celebration.
We were lucky to be able to enjoy the set menu option which is a fantastic value. Unfortunately it is no longer available but even their new 5-10-5 offer is good value for the quality of food you are served. The restaurant is beautiful and cosy and the staff friendly and very professional. The food is just fantastic. I would recommend Greedy Goose to anyone.
We found the staff very attentive and knowlegable in selecting our food and wine. The food we had was delicious we old certainly recommend The Greedy Goose.
