outstanding experience, great food, exceptional staff
The food was delicious. Great quality food for a reasonable price. Great staff, attentive. Great drinks. Nice place. Would visit again when in the area.
Service was outstanding and the shrimp and grits was delicious. Great place to go for lunch or dinner in the heart of DC
The waiter was amazing and posed we had a group of 9 people and she handled our party excellently. The food was OMG Amazing. I will be returning. Great food and Great service
Service and food was lovely, but the noise level was moderate and slightly hard to hear people due to several large parties in the vicinity of our table. Despite the noise levels, still was an A++ experience
Bar staff was great. Our wait staff was not.
I went as a secret place hidden away. The American style food was really delicious! I’d go back but try something new each time.
Really good food, but the service put it over the top for us. Our server was outstanding.
Great experience will be back
Great experience. Menu had a lot of variety and terrific choices. Food was excellent and service was outstanding!
Too many screaming babies. 3. We asked to be moved to another dining area but were told we couldn’t be accommodated
Service was outstanding. Lakief was personable and attentive. Food was great, especially the crispy brussel sprouts!
We went to Hamilton's on New Year's Eve. The dinner was quite yummy and the staff was festive and professional. They clearly know what they are doing. The ambiance is terrific - beautiful restaurant and reliable tasty menu.
This was our NYE dinner spot. I had orange sangria and the shrimp and grain bowl. Sangria was very tasty and a really full glass that wasn't just ice or fruit. Shrimp and grain bowl was amazing. The mix of chewy farro, crispy puffed rice, and creamy avocado chunks was a perfect blend of textures and seasoned nicely. Hubby had Samurai Seven and raved about it.
NEW YEARS EVE 2021 EXPERIENCE
The hostess asked me if I was celebrating anything and I replied it was the third NYE with my date. She agreed it IS something to celebrate and wished me many more together!
After I was seated, I explained that my date was parking and he would arrive shortly. The waiter insisted to hold off on ordering until my date arrived. A bottle of water was placed on the table; the waiter didn’t pour it into the glasses.
For an appetizer we ordered the District Wings (5 stars) and Rosemary Truffle Fries (4 stars). I also ordered the Firecracker Roll (5 stars). I told my date the sushi was the BEST and how I would recommend the Sushi happy hour of $5 off to friends!
For an entree, I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. I would not recommend this dish: it was too tomatoey and didn’t have enough spice to it. Yes, it had many shrimp but they were flavorless and not seasoned so I give the dish 2 stars. My date ordered the Brick Chicken which he gave 2 stars because it was well seasoned but fatty and the vegetables were bland.
Bread was only brought to the table at my request, not offered like the other tables.
Overall, it was an okay experience. I’m still unsure as to why I was asked if I was celebrating something, if NOTHING was mentioned by the waiter???
Our server, Keith, was amazing! He went above and beyond to deliver a great experience. His recos were on point. First time visiting and definitely plan on coming back when visiting DC Great value!
The food was excellent and the service great.
very good food. Great service. nice wine list.
Really awful. Our server was incompetent, and everything else suffered as a result. It was our worst restaurant experience in a long time.
This was our second poor episode at The Hamilton. We decided to give it another try. We won’t make the same mistake again.
I love the Hamilton, especially sitting at the bar, whether on my own or with a friend, it's always fun.
However, with Omicron surging in DC, and many vaccinated and boosted people getting sick anyway (though not getting hospitalized, able to recover at home), not a great idea to sit at the bar since people take their masks off, of course, to drink and eat.
We were disappointed only by the portion sizes of our menu choices. Eating there is a fairly pricey enterprise. The side of mashed potatoes was small and a bit over-produced, for my taste. Would have preferred a nice sized portion of the more old fashioned whipped potatoes, not this overly creamy version.
The Filet Mignon was supposed to be 8 oz. Maybe it was. But looked much smaller. Delicious though and cooked to perfection - Medium rare to rare.
Ditto the grilled chicken and grain salad, with kale and arugula. Absolutely delicious but, for an entree/salad choice (and at $21), the size of the serving was disappointing.
We had a wonderful brunch at this lovely restaurant. The food was delicious and service great.
Even with the current state of things in the world, the management and staff made our meal every bit as warm and wonderful as any Christmas Eve. Excellent food, exceptional service, always a nice place to dine especially during the holidays!
Had a fabulous Christmas Eve meal late in the afternoon. Great shrimp and grits..and crab cake sandwich. We had a wonderful Rose that set the tone. And as an appetizer, the calamari was perfect and fabulous. We ended the meal with their special egg nog drink..simply perfect for the day and the setting.
The service was a little slow in the beginning, but once we got waited on, the meal was served promptly and perfect.
The Hamilton is an iconic place to dine in DC. The facility is beautiful. I'd strongly recommend anyone visiting DC (although we live here) to make this a definite dining destination.
Our server, Amanda, has impeccable service. We appreciated her.
We have already recommended the Hamilton to friends.
First time here and we’re blown away. This place is huge but runs so flawlessly from top to bottom. Can’t wait to go back.
Awesome Christmas lunch...great service and great food.
It was our 1 year anniversary and The Hamilton did not disappoint. Our server was phenomenal and gave us some of the best service I’ve experienced in D.C.
We were seated in the middle of the dining room and l asked for a booth and we were immediately accommodated. Super grateful for that.
Food was phenomenal. He got the Rigatoni Bolognese and I got the Filet and both were excellent. I have absolutely no complaints.
Overall a lovely experience. The menu is varied and everything we had was excellent.
The staff at the check-in desk, and then a manager were both astonishingly rude when asked about the possibility of having a mask available for one of the guests who had forgotten his. It was a little surprising that they didn’t have one, but far more concerning was the dismissive and rude way that they treated us just for asking. Sadly I will likely never eat there again, and will recommend my friends not patronize this business
Our favorite restaurant especially around the holidays. Unfortunately the kitchen staff was hit hard by COVID so it took an hour for our food to come out. Waitress seemed to be avoided us rather than tackling the issue head on. We will go back but not for a bit. Their milk shakes continue to be excellent!
Went here after seeing the Nutcracker as a Christmas gift for partner. We had a great dining experience and our server was outstanding. Very thoughtful and made sure we had a great experience. Will be recommending it to anyone who is in DC and looking for an affordable, atmospheric dining experience.
Wonderful atmosphere and delicious meals. Cannot wait to go back.
Restaurant was short staffed. Half the menu was unavailable due to staffing challenges. Still overall, probably a decent place if not for pandemic. Food was good.
Appetizers and drinks were wonderful but unfortunately our entrees came out lukewarm and we’re on par with Olive Garden level food. We were surprise because everything else had been great. Perhaps just stay away from the pasta dishes!
Good food, nice staff
Absolutely beautiful place for lunch- carved wood decor, period lighting, nice seating. Good varied menu with good, but not great, food. A nice experience overall given the times.
The food was great! The manager admitted to being short staffed, and we appreciated the notice. The staff was all pleasant, responsive, and well worth the great tip we left them!
Food choices were great as was the cuisine itself. Very relaxed atmosphere, never rushed.
The food and the atmosphere was perfect. Great food. Reservation right on time. 130 pm reservation perfect time. Outstanding service. Will definitely go back next visit to DC. Thank you.
Very pleasant experience. Will go again.
