My husband and I had a dinner with our friend to celebrate her birthday, and Highwood was the perfect place. We were welcome with an Aperitif of Quinoa Salad that taste delicious. My friend and husband had the Duck and I ordered the lamb. The presentation was very colorful and inviting, the savor fulfill our expectations, I particularity enjoy the tenderness of the lamb and the sauce that came along it was an outstanding experience, the server (1st year student) was very professional and show in the table when we needed. I had the special dessert made with coconut and my friend an apple dessert, we both love it and enjoyed it so much. The ambient was quiet, right illumination, and we were able to have a nice conversation. Our friend was impressing with the quality of the food, the variety and the service. It is our second visit, I we will return for sure, the experience with our 4-course meal was outstanding and the value we received is higher that price we paid. Thanks, Janine, for making our experience so delightful.
Well worth the 17yr wait! Check-in was quick. Servers were not bothersome but came by as required. What a menu! The kitchen staff did an excellent job. In the end, the meal's cost was reasonable; would have been much more expensive downtown. The complete staff are to be commended for providing a very enjoyable "dinner date". Why 17yrs? Just time commitments and reservation availability over the years.
When making the reservation we had mentioned that it was a birthday celebration. There was no special attention given to that fact. Otherwise we enjoyed the experience.
We celebrated my best friend’s birthday and had a wonderful time!! Janina took great care of us. The food was fantastic- we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
We were attending a show at the Jubiliee and wanted to have a nice meal close by without having to worry about our timing. The staff were aware of our situation and the time. Served a delicious three course meal that was at a suitable price point. Would do it again for sure.
Super nice spot for a great dining experience in the middle of a “live” classroom: superb table services, great food selection. Great for the value!
The food was really good except for the duck I had which was quite tough and very difficult to cut. But my daughter-in-law had duck as well and hers was fine . Service was excellent as were the cocktails. It was a nice quiet atmosphere.
The food was excellent with a good variety and the staff was extremely attentive.
The young fellow taking care of our table was wonderful. Very interested in helping is out and making our luncheon memorable. Kept the water glasses full, and always spoke tonus, which I really enjoyed. He was very well.versed in the food that was being served and when asked about how the system worked, he explained when and where he would be in the next few weeks. Very personable fellow. Actually all the students were!
Great food and amazing service. Able to work with dietary restriction. Would recommend to anyone
Excellent venue for a visit with cousins, food was superb! Highly recommend!
The students and staff do a wonderful job. We appreciate sharing in their education. Thank you all.
Had lunch with my friend and the food was delicious. Our waiter was very pleasant and attended to us perfectly. There was a lovely ambience and a varied mix of ages there. I’m going back for dinner with my husband.
This is a fantastic place to go if you want ‘10pm’ star food! These students work very hard to make, present, and serve the deliciousness they create!
Great food, service and bang for your buck. Will definitely be back.
Excellent atmosphere. Our server was fabulous. Had a small glitch with two drinks we ordered and they were fixed promptly. The food was outstanding. We will definitely be dining here again.
My son and I went to Highwood for his birthday dinner. Food and service were excellent. Would definitely go back.
Really good food for really good value. The shrimp cocktail was delicious. I really like the sauce, tangy and spicy and not the typical tomato based cocktail sauce. The gravlax and Vietnamese flank steak salad was really good too. The service was friendly and quick.
Valentine’s Day lunch was delicious. Great prices and good choice.
We had the most enjoyable lunch February 14tth. When we walked in the tables sent the ambience with red heart shaped napkins and soft romantic music was playing in the background. The food was outstanding. Our server was responsive and knowledgeable about the menu. We will definitely be going back.
Like every time we have gone, the food is delicious. Unfortunately, they ran out of 2 of their desserts but we still enjoyed the replacements. The service however needs a bit more work. That is, if additional butter for the bread is requested, it needs to be softened up before being served (as it was still frozen). Plus the server should have gone back to ask for a detailed description of the daily specials (including the drinks) versus just guessing the ingredients. Also, reception was slow to record car license plates for parking. Maybe allow patrons to do it themselves? Also, the student seated people who arrived after me, as I waited for coat check to happen.
Our dinner at the Highwood was a delightful experience. We invited 5 couples and had a wonderful time thoroughly enjoying an evening of fine dining. The element I enjoyed the most was that each bite taken was bursting with flavor. We were taking pictures of each dish served as well. The presentations of each dish were something I wanted to remember and share. This was as tasty a meal as I have eaten in my lifetime. I have been to the Highwood once before and was so impressed that I wondered how a second visit would measure up (because of my high expectations). I was not disappointed.
Food was mediocre. Expected more. Service and ambiance is good.
4 course meal for $50- can't complain. And the cocktails were reasonably priced as well. PLUS you dont have to pay for parking. Hands-Down would recommend!!
Food and service were excellent! Would love to be back again.
Amazing buffet lunch! The food was great! And very fancy
Second visit since December. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal
Best value fine dining in the city. Attentive staff.
Go with an open mind, be patient and you'll have a great time.
We really enjoyed our recent visit to the Highwood Restaurant. The food was superior!! It’s very cool that these are SAIT culinary/hospitality students learning with “hands on” experience with real customers. They are very enthusiastic. I will be returning!
Great place for a lovely reasonably priced dinner. My adult son said it would be a good place to take a date. Lunch is pretty nice too and the. You can go to their store around the corner. Will go again
They went over the top to meet our dietary requests.
We had a planned birthday lunch at the Highwood. Not one meal was great or even good! The service supervisor agreed to buy the entire table dessert! The creams brûlée’s had salt crusted on top not sugar, for 5 of the ladies! By far the worst meal ever at the Highwood. Roast lamb was tasteless, Ruben sandwich was marginal at best, chicken was completely over cooked! So very disappointing, I have never been disappointed like that at the Highwood and I am a lifer! I went there as a kid for every birthday! Just sad!
I brought my husband there for lunch and he was so excited to be there and couldn't stop thanking me. We both enjoyed the food. I didn't understand french so a lot of things I just took a chance. It was his birthday so I wanted to treat him. Our waiter Carlz was so anxious to please, and what a smile. It was his 2nd day so he hadn't relaxed yet. He will do very well I think. Thank you for the experience and we will try your other location Tasty Market, sincerely June Lowery
Soup and salad were excellent, the main course wasn’t anything great... food was cold and under seasoned... very bland.
But for the experience the price was reasonable
It was a very enjoyable evening celebrating my wife's birthday. A sparkler on the desert was a nice touch. The Service was excellent our waiter Caleb was very attentive and served us well.
Our Granddaughter Annika Hadford is in the Hospitality Mgmt Program and it gave us an opportunity to talk with Darwin Ens and Ross Robinson about the program. We are are glad that Annika is a part of this group. We hope to visit the establishment again with some of our friends in the near future .

Once again excellent choices and good value
We were able to converse in a well lit area and temperature of the room was comfortable
Students were eager to serve and to please
We wish them all well in their future endeavours
Waiter (Drew) was very engaging and helpful. Food was delicious.
This semester the menu is just superb! Wonderful food, great service, perfect drinks!
It is always a pleasure to go to the Highwood. I like the fact that the menus changes so often. Sometimes the food is a bit out there but can usually find something delicious. Have a garlic allergy which can sometimes be challenging, but staff has been able to accommodate me.
Great place to experience high end dining and help students learn.
Atlantic cod was very fresh. Even nicely decorated with veggie leaves. Lobster/shrimp roll was good. Fries were reasonably salted & spiced unlike earlier days.
