The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Granville Island Ratings and Reviews
We came to The Keg in Granville Island for my girlfriend's birthday. We arrived a little too early for our reservation so we started at the bar. Got the Sunday Special; a red Sangria and a Moscow Mule. Our waitress was funny and quick witted, professional at her job and very friendly. I got the Prime Rib (medium rare) with an add on of grilled Jumbo prawns with a side of double stuffed baked potato. My girlfriend had the Steak (medium) and Lobster combination with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. Their horseradish was extremely well made; a lot spicier than I remembered, gave a good ol big kick to my tongue (really good). Overall, our experience was amazing. Celebrated her 24th birthday at the Keg.
Great atmosphere and staff was really quick with answering questions and providing amazing service! My mother was impressed with the quality of food and service compared to other locations! It was a great experience for me as we were celebrating both my sisters and girlfriends birthdays! They really accommodated us well. This is the reason why we also come back to the keg, there is no other restaurant that provides this amazing service and really cares about their customers.
Good value, you know what your going to get when you go to the Keg.
Good food and service
Sat near the fireplace which was nice , warm though
Had a good meal, not loud so conversation was good amongst the table
We have enjoyed the Keg on a number of occasions and while we had an okay evening, there are some disappointments we wish to bring to your attention.
We have received a number of gift cards to the Keg from family and friends.
1.One was for a hundred dollars which we used part of at the Park Royal Keg last fall. There was about thirty dollars left unused. My husband did not receive the card back only the receipt with the balance and was told to just show the receipt.
2 We received a second card for two hundred dollars which we used at the Granville Island Keg. Again, there was about thirty dollars left on it. This time the card was returned with the
balance. Then we received another card for fifty dollars for Christmas.
3. When we went to pay for our dinners on Sunday at the Granville Island Keg, my husband provided the waitress with all the cards and the receipt which should have equaled about 110.00 but the waitress indicated that only the cards were valid. We had a guest with us so my husband did not raise a fuss or question it as an issue. It just seems strange.
Regarding our food my husband and I shared the roast beef and while there was a lot of fat on the piece I had, it was tasty and done well.
Our guest ordered the 20 ounce Rib Eye. It looked awful and I tasted a little piece and was shocked at the toughness and lack of flavour. Again I am sure our guest did not want to raise a fuss. But for forty dollars it was shockingly awful.
We were seated in a booth where a mother decided to absent herself from her companions as the baby was howling. She chose to stand trying to comfort the infant right behind my friend’s seat. We could hardly carry on a conversation.
We did enjoy our friend’s company and our dessert. Excellent creme brûlée.
The Manager and the server were excellent.
The food was pretty good. We will definitely go back.
The service was good however, two of the four steaks we ordered were over cooked. One filet in particular was very dry and falling apart.
Awesome birthday night out. Great service, great food
The server we had was always on a rush. One time, I was asking him something he was too busy taking off so quickly he didn't even bother to stop and ask what was my request. He just took off.
The food is not good. But I have to give one good note, when my friend said we are sharing, the cook actually spilt the one course meal into two plates for us. That was the only thing that's awesome.
The Keg at Granville Island is one of our favourite restaurants in one of the neighbourhood’s most vibrant locations. Try the Molly Dooker Shiraz.
Great food. Friendly but overly distant service.
Loved everyting about the Keg!!!! It was awzome!!!!!! 👍😉👍😉👍😄👍
Was a very nice evening out with my girl, new romance! I have never in 30 years had a bad meal or bad experience at a keg ever! She recommended the Granville Island and I have never been to that location. It was over the top! The staff was the best, service great and the food OMG! So good! All this on a Monday night! We closed the place down and we will be back for sure!
Cheers to a great crew and experience ❤️
Absolutely love the keg and they never fail. From the service to the delicious meals there is nothing to improve. Today I came and my steak was a little burnt but it’s always been perfect so it’s nothing that would sip me from coming here. I didn’t complain because it was still delicious but others have told me they will credit a part of your bill, so again amazing customer service!
Thank you Keg and your employees and compliments to the chef for cooking a great steak!
The Keg always delivers, and did once again. Would recommend and go here again.
These emails are annoying! STOP IT!!!
I will never use this again!!!!!!!
Great daily cocktails and several happy hour specials; good and prompt service; tables at bar tend to be small but ample seating; friendly hostesses and bartenders
The bar service and appetizers served there were great! Not impressed with our dining experience. Food was okay but nothing outstanding with very little included in the price and the price was expensive for what was offered. The only thing our waiter did was go get our meal when I told him we seemed to be waiting a long time for our food. Oh yes, he was full of excuses as to why he hadn’t taken our order, etc etc. Really? I could have brought our kids if I wanted to hear empty excuses over diner. We tried a Keg in Victoria last year and it was terrible. Unfortunately my employer thinks gift cards for the Keg is a good idea.
Classic Keg. Very personable server with good recommendations and pleasant manner. Chatty and not intrusive. Excellent menu with lots of choices. Great ambiance and not too noisy.
Our waiter was great. Awesome recommendation of the Kansas city steak. And the complementary dessert was a wonderful surprise.
Granville Island Keg is always a great place to meet and eat!
Our family came to the Keg this Sunday (Nov. 19th) to celebrate my birthday. We had a great table, in the middle, right by the fire. Our server couldn't have been nicer! My granddaughter got an appetizer soon after she and her parents arrived. Much appreciated! We found the food and choices excellent, as per usual. Both myself and my son-in-law sampled the draft beer selection. I always get a steak at the Keg, getting the Steak Oscar. Could not have been better! Everyone, including my very fussy sister-in-law, was happy with their selection. Finally, our server brought me a delicious almond ice cream with a candle to help me celebrate. This made my day truly special. Thank you for your wonderful service and food! Always a treat to eat at the Granville Keg. Bob S.
Excellent service and delicious bread and steaks. We love this place:)
Austin was an excellent waiter.
Good service and steak cooked as requested. Price for a steak is high given it is not a speciality restaurant.
Food was good as usual, service was also good. Made a request for a table and not a booth which we ended being sat at, but it was fine tonight. Drinks were well done, my wife especially enjoyed her dirty martini.
Our only complaint was how loud a child was at another table. This child kept screaming intermittently and really was disruptive.
In our section, everytime the child screamed, folks at various tables would start looking around uncomfortably. At this particular Keg, this was the first time we experienced this. Normally the restaurant has a energetic vibe, but tonight it was just distracting. We lost count at 12 outbursts of piercing wailing.
We still plan on coming back, we more often than not have good experiences. But first time on a Sunday, so maybe we'll avoid this day of the week.
We frequent the Granville island Keg very often and highly recommend it!
This time everything was great. Last time my steak was not edible but today was perfect. Will return.....
The steak was not done right the first time and they redid it to our satisfaction right away and even treat us with a dessert. We really appreciate good service like this to make it a wonderful dinner experience.
Our waiter Sebastian was fantastic, he was funny and attentive. :) food was amazing !
It was good. Thank you for the experience.
Very disappointed with the prime rib this time.. big chunks of fat, the meat it’s self was very tough.. ended up reading the rest of it to my dog..
One of our appetizers was forgotten
My dates meal was over cooked. She said something about it, it was forgotten under the heat lamp.. it wasn’t even that busy..
Even though the meal wasn’t 100% the bill still was..
To end on a positive.. the server was great he was very apologetic and professional about the entire mix up.. took the missing appetizer off the bill..
I have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past but the food today was especially good. The server was well formed and helpful. My mother had the prime rib and said it was the best she had tasted anywhere!
The Keg is a safe bet with good standards of food and service. A gal pal and I went there on a Thursday night for a business/friend date dinner. The service seemed a bit vague even for a Thursday but was pleasant. The food was standard Keg fare. It was tasty and properly cooked. I recommend the baked brie appetizer.
We're seniors so I guess we don't have the tolerance we used to have. We were seated at five PM and our dinner came at 5:45 PM. The longer we waited the more our buoyant mood changed. The coke I ordered had no flavour, and the server said he would replace it, as he had other complaints about it as well. The first coke came at about 5:10 PM and the replacement came at 5:30. The food portions (garlic potatoes) seemed smaller than in the past, and the onion rings were not crisp, and really not hot. Sour grapes eh. We have been coming there for years and we always had a good time. The staff is great, I guess it was just a bad night. I don't think that you serve coca-cola, so I was wondering that it probably was Pepsi. Overall we like your establishment and it is where we go to celebrate special occasions. We'll try again sometime. Thanks for asking for the review. We're grateful to be alive and certainly there are more important things to go on about. Cheers, Mac and Cathy McLaughlin
PS, we haven't received the email regarding the balance from the $75 gift certificate yet.
The Keg is a favourite, and we always have exceptional service and great food. The staff is knowledgeable about gluten cross contamination, which is especially important for my son, who has celiac disease.
Food was good. Reliable Keg fare. I do wish the waiters would just let you have dinner and not converse so much. I'm there to talk to the person I went with. I think I'm getting old...
I love the Classic Keg Prime Rib here. Had the iceberg wedge saiad with blue cheese dressing (yummy) to start followed by prime rib and baked potato. Server was good enough to provide me (the birthday girl) with a complimentary dessert of mud pie drizzled with caramel sauce that was garnished with almonds and large enough to share for 2.
We were completely ignored by the waiter for 25 minutes.
Went to the Keg because it was my birthday as well as my boyfriends birthday. The service was quite slow. Came to our table and told us about the seasonal menu but did not ask straight up if we wanted to start with drinks or appetizers just left then came back. Got the prime rib which was huge but maybe instead of a heaping of onion straws maybe some veggies to even out the huge piece of meat? Both my boyfriend and I left kind of sick the day after. Would probably come back but not in the next couple of years since of how sick I felt.
