The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Oshawa
Restaurant was recently renovated and it’s beautifully done. However, if you’re not in a booth (which are difficult to get, even with a reservation), the tables are very close together and it’s quite loud at peak times.
Servers were very attentive, but we kept getting interrupted to reconfirm everything was alright. Felt scripted and templated rather than a genuine concern for how our meal was.
Overall a nice evening and fine for an evening out, but for a special occasion I’ll choose somewhere else next time.
The service was amazing, we had the sweetest waitress and she was very genuine and thoughtful.
Everything was perfect.
I have always loved the Keg but this was our first visit to the new Keg. Even though we had a reservation, we waited 20 minutes for our table. It was very noisy and cold as the patio windows were open and it wasn’t patio weather. My dinner was excellent but my husband’s fries were cold. Staff did offer to replace fries and offered a desert. Our experience was below the Keg’s usual excellence.
The Keg needs to serve orange pekoe tea. It is the most popular tea and to not have it available is a nuisance and in poor taste.
Brand new Keg open in Oshawa. Excited to go and check it out. Is gorgeously designed. Pictures on the wall make it even more opulent feeling. Food was great and our server was excellent and entertaining. Only issue was the ridiculous amount of flies, counted about 5 fruit flies and at least regular house fly... we spent the entire dinner swatting. We dont normally mind spending that much there, but the scenario may cause us to question whether we go back to the location
Just an ok experience.
I felt crowded.
The old place had better seating arrangements.
The new place makes me feel I need a button shirt to arrive once there I’m home. Great on all accounts look forward to my next visit
Excellent service. Great food. Be nice to have more privacy while dining. Wanted a nice date night out and could hear clearly both parties on either side of me. Felt like I was eating with them.
Delish meal. Excellent service. The Keg classic meals are a great deal. It was nice to be able to make a last minute reservation on line. Even though by then times were limited it worked out for us. So no waiting when we got to the Keg. We were seated right away.
Found the new restaurant very nice however seemed very loud. Disappointed that they have less tables. Won't alleviate the wait times.
I did request a table not in a corner and it was in a corner. I also stated it was a birthday when I reserved online. Nothing was mentioned. A little disappointed.
I find the staff are friendly but far too busy to take the time at each table. I felt like eat and get out, so someone else could have our table.
Sara our waitress was outstanding. The meal was served in a timely manner, never felt rushed and the food was absolutely great!!
Amazing experience in the new building. Service was on point and they made us feel really special on our anniversary. Cannot wait to go back!
I miss the old Keg. This was our first visit to the newly built Keg, and just didn’t have the same ambiance as the original. Service and food was absolutely great.
It was a pleasure being served and the food was great! We loved the experience.
The food was excellent as usual but the service this time as in comparison to last was poor. I feel inexperience May have been a contributing factor but my wife is saying I am making excuses. Maybe since the renovation new staff may have been hired. The waiter seemed very young and didn’t seem to have much pride in his job or the way he looked. Other than that it was a good experience. Lucky you guys didn’t change the cook.
We celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary recently. We really enjoyed our evening except for the noice level which is considerably worse than in the old Keg premises. The new premises have a more open concept. I would have rated it a 5 star if it was not for the noise. Food and service were excellent and the complimentary dessert was a nice touch.
Amazing dinner. Great service. Friendly and thoughtful waitress. We would definitely go back. The interior was so nicely done modern and cozy
One celebrating anniversary
One celebrates birthday.
Had to wait wayyyyyyy too long for the waiter to come to pay our bill. Left and paid at the bar after 15 min of waiting
Unfortunately there seem to be several kinks with the new renovated location and their staffing. This was the 2nd time i had visited this location in two weeks and had the same problem both time. My dinner was brought out different then ordered...the 2nd visit i sent it back expecting to receive it quickly....but instead it took 30 minutes by which time everyone we dined with had finished and I requested it just be packed up as i did not want to be eating while others were finished and watching me.
I will say the manager was very pleasant and took care of me this evening and that was much appreciated. I do hope they work out their challenges and it improves as it is a great ambiance.
Extremely disappointed that I advised we were celebrating two birthdays and it was acknowledged when I arrived yet nothing was done.
Our waitress Annie was outstanding and made us feel welcome. She was helpful and knowledgeable in regards to what was on the menu. The food was very good and we didn’t feel rushed... thanks again. !!
We had a reservation but we were forgotten about until I asked how much longer. They did not ask if we were celebrating anything and we were. Very little attention was received. I always enjoy the Keg but this was not a good experience at the new location.
Delish salad and bruschetta. The service was wonderful.
Ps i am a vegetarian, but the keg is still one of my faves! Thanks!
The only issue I had was that the reservation didn't seem to be honoured. We were about 10 minutes late bc I underestimated my 89 year old father's ability to move as well as my mother's as she sustained a stroke a couple of years ago. That's why a 15 minute grace period exists in other restaurants. The whole point of a reservation is to not have to worry about having a table. We were sent to the bar which was tricky bc my mother had a difficult time getting on one of those high stools. This was honestly disappointing. We didn't make a big deal out of it bc we didn't want to ruin the evening as it was my brother's birthday. Isn't that why a phone number is provided too? They could've just called and we weren't excessively late. No apology no nothing.
All good. Should prioritize reservation customers though. That’s the point of the reservation.
A very “OK” experience - not what I expected from The Keg. Had a reservation for 7:15PM. We weren’t seated until closer to 7:30 PM, after my boyfriend expressed his frustration. Our meals took about 50 min to 1 hour to come out. We didn’t order apps, and our server didn’t bring extra bread. We also had two servers who clearly weren’t communicating because we got told the specials twice, got asked for our orders for both wine and food twice, got prompted for desert twice. Food was OK. Severs were very nice/pleasant, and the hostess was very apologetic about the fact that we had a reservation and still had a fairly long wait for a table.
Newly renovated. Looks great. Always great service and food.
We had 8 people for a anniversary and 2 birthdays the food and service was the best our waitress erin was awesome made our evening the best
Loved the food.
As always, The Oshawa Keg delivers great service and food and now in a beautiful atmosphere. Great night out!
Steak was over cooked, but they fixed it. Noise levels were a bit high.
What is expected from this chain. Great food and service but a price tag comes with it
NOISE LEVEL HIGH AND HIGH SERVER TRAFFIC BESIDE OUR BOOTH, FOOD WAS GREAT AND NEW BUILDING ALSO GREAT
The food was excellent. Our server Erin was amazing! Lovely new establishment. However, it was my birthday dinner. We were seated next to a huge crowd of individuals in dirty t-shirts and tennis shoes. They were exceedingly loud! The techno music was incredibly loud. A different seat and it might have been a different experience. This lovely jazz was playing as we walked in- "Spooky Little Girl". Wish that it continued. Techno is not music to eat by...it is music to drink and party by...
The new renovations at the Oshawa location are outstanding. Beautiful patio ambience. Fantastic service by Mike and the food, as good as ever! Excellent dinner!
We are regulars to the Keg. The new restaurant was very nice and the food was typical Keg. It was the service that was very disappointing. It began at the entrance where there were 4 young hostesses gathered together in a discussion. They made us feel as if we had interrupted them. We did not feel welcomed and valued as customers for the business. Our server was a very seasoned, polite, engaging person. He, however, was training a young woman who appeared as if she didn’t want to be there and didn’t care about being attentive to us and our needs. Overall left us wondering why we would return again and pay a fair amount of money for good food but poor service. Hope some improvements happen with staffing.
Excellent as usual.
We’ve never had a bad meal or service
We were amazed how packed it was on a Wednesday
