The Lord Nelson Ratings and Reviews
Pleasant and comfortable.
We had a great experience we will definitely be back again.
We went to Lord Nelson to celebrate my husband's birthday. On the reservation I had made a note to have them bring out a dessert for his birthday and that didn't happen. It wasn't the end of the world but I had requested it and was slightly disappointed that it wasn't followed through.
We were in the smaller part of the restaurant and had ordered the Caesar salad but the waiter couldn't prepare it right at the table which was kind of disappointing as well. I had to turn around to see and still it wasn't completely viewable. My husband couldn't see it at all.
Considering that it is part of the experience to have it prepared table side, that was kind of a letdown.
Otherwise the service was impeccable as well as the food. It was overall a great night out and the service and food was excellent.
I would return again but to be seated in the main dining area to enjoy the view of food prep done at the table.
We witnessed a customer who was down even farther than us take a video of their dessert being prepared while the remaining guests were seated at their table and couldn't really see the prep going on.
I can make an assumption that it is due to fire regulation that no entryway/table can be blocked which is completely understandable.
Our service and all the staff was top notch as always. Extremely courteous and pleasant.
All around enjoyable. Would like more vegatbles included in meal.
We have used the Lord Nelson for special occasions for some time. The service, ambience, menu and price are all excellent. It is always a pleasure to dine there.
Excellent food offerings and wine list. Elegant décor and surrounding. Service began very well , however half way through some local " celebrities" ( I have no idea who they were) arrived and we were ignored from then on, as well as the other 6 tables in our service area. The owner came over to introduce himself to the "celebs" , however went to the wrong table. Quite amusing !! Deeply concerning that it was fine to snub other patrons to attend to these guests. Actions speak louder than words ...
Excellent ambiance. Staff was friendly and attentive without being too over bearing. Our meal was prepared exactly as requested. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and the golden beats were a nice surprise.
Only draw back would be when booking on line the option to specify a special occasion was missing. This was our anniversary and it would have been nice to include this detail in our reservation. I'm sure The Lord Nelson would have acknowledged our occasion.
Over all, an excellent night.
Enjoyed the ambiance and food, but the service left a bit to be desired. Our waiter wasn't very friendly at all. In fact, before the dinner had ended (before coffee and dessert), he just vanished ..... took off! When we asked another waiter for our waiter, he said oh, he left. His shift was over and I'll be taking over. We were quite surprised that this guy didn't even say good bye, thanks, nothin! He should have said my shift is over, but you will now be in the good capable hands of "Jian Tomasso", which he didn't. By the way, his name was Scott, I believe.
Our tip may have been bigger, but certainly not deserved.
Exceptional escargot and grilled calamari to start with bread, pate, dills and black olives! Veal and steak with wonderful broccoli and cauliflower with cheese sauce! Creme brule& gelato!! Great for celebrating a birthday!
Our anniversary dinner was wonderful and the waiter was friendly and attentive. The special of halibut with shrimp was delicious. The chocolate cake was just a touch dry but still very tasty. I really enjoy this restaurant. One day I'll have to try the classic caesar salad made table side.
We had a lovely time, food was excellent, and Patrick made it even better!!
We have been going to the lord Nelson for many years and always a great meal accompanied by great service.
Everything from the atmosphere to the food was wonderful. Our waiter was fantastic!
Fantastic all around!!!!
Food, service and atmosphere was perfect. Love the attention to detail and of course, the delicious food.
A great restaurant. The sevice staff were very knowledgable, professional and friendly. The food was excellent.
Excellent food , fabulous atmosphere.. love it here !
Ceaser salad to die for
My husband and I were celebrating our second anniversary. Our server was fantastic, the food was delicious and they gave us a complimentary desert to share for the special occasion. While it is a little pricier than our usual fare, it was well worth it for a special night out.
By far one of our favourite places to eat. The food is absolutely delicious, and their Ceasar Salad is by far the best I've ever had.
There is something about this restaurant - the decor, the way the staff converse with you, the attention to service details, the dependably great food - that make you comfortable and your group's conversation flow. You leave feeling it was a great evening.
Wonderful time, great food and service with a complementary dessert for the birthday girl was a special touch!
Service was inattentive--staff made us feel like we were an inconvenience . Food quality was good but presentation was mediocre.
We enjoyed our dinner, steak was excellent as was service.
It's my first time visiting this restaurant and I don't think we'll be back. I must say it started in a bad way. Noted on my reservation, I asked for booth table if possible. When we arrived, the host told me that none of the booth tables were available so I said that's okay, maybe the booth tables are occupied. We sat at our table and I looked around and saw two empty booth tables and remained empty while we were there. They also asked me if there was an occasion and I said it's for a birthday dinner, again nothing special was done. We were still looking at the menu and a couple of people came to our table asking if we’re ready to order. I felt rushed, it’s not a big menu but I didn’t know what to eat. The food was mediocre. I feel like I would have gotten better steak and service at Chop Steakhouse for half a price. I was so turned off with the service that I couldn’t finish my food and I just wanted to pay and get out. My fiancé and I went to the neighbouring McDonald’s right after. When I asked to box my food I felt like the person was irritated. We were suppose to get a fine dining experience, but we didn't get any of that. The ambiance is nice. Lastly, I do think that if you’re a regular at this establishment, you will get exceptional service since you can tell that some of the patrons were getting a friendlier service than others to a point that servers would stand around their tables and chat for a few minutes.
This is a lovely steakhouse, traditional, but done very well. The food is excellent, the service is professional yet friendly, and the decor and ambiance are lovely. It is expensive, but it doesn't apologize for that. The restaurant provides a fine dining experience.
Excellent food, wine ambiance and wine. Great service, friendly owners and staff.
we will come again- they did a great job
The food and service was excellent! The portions are plentiful although quite pricey! A great way to celebrate a special occasion but definitely not something you could do on a regular basis. On the whole the Lord Nelson is a great restaurant and I would recommend it for that extra special night out.
Great olde school Steak House which caters to those of us who like red meat and don't want to apologize for it. Great wine list as well.
We went there for a late Mother's Day treat and it was our first visit. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The music was too loud to start out and it was that terrible modern jazz but once the place filled up, the music was turned off which was much better.
The food was excellent, if a bit pricey and the waiters were pleasant and friendly. I would go back for a special occasion but not everyday dining.
A very full Mother's Day weekend dinner and Nick was able to make accommodations to increase my party of 6 to a party of 10. The food was impeccable as was the service which is an extra accomplishment on Mother's Day. 5 Stars again!
The service was excellent, Our server was very inviting and had a great sense of humor.
He was also very knowledgeable on how the menu items are prepared.Great experience!
Great service ........ but God was not the greatest.
We had a wonderful meal to celebrate my husband's birthday. The food was excellent and so was the service. Would highly recommend a visit. The prices are fairly steep but it is worth a visit!!
Excellent food, service and ambiance. Always consistent .....I'm never disappointed.
Pricing online didn't match menu in restaurant.
Seems like we are all so busy these days - met my daughter for lunch on Monday to catch up .... very quiet in restaurant - only 3 tables but most pleasant atmosphere. Enjoyed French onion soup to start and an amazing orange roughy in light butter dill sauce with veggies and rice while my daughter had oysters rockefeller. Excellent conversation while enjoying our Le grande Pino Noir. Topped it off with cherries jubilee prepared tableside ... no complaints here! Lord Nelson rocks!
The servers were attentive and friendly however, that's where the pleasantries end. This was a second trip to the Lord Nelson as on a previous occasion I was a little disappointed. However, I want to be fair and gave it another try. Not any better and it is unlikely I'll return. We were a table of 5 (reservations made however, maybe short notice). We were seated at a very small table, not adequate for 4, let alone 5. It was in a tight corner, preventing any chair adjustment. Owing to the cramped space, our half eaten bread and pickle tray were removed before appetizers arrived, large plates were not appropriate for the table size and did not allow sufficient space for water, wine and cocktail glasses. We'd ordered a bottle of wine and 2 cocktails leaving little room for our bread & butter plates. Our 'table prepared' caesar salad was not the show expected, as the server did not engage us in conversation and was situated at an awkward angle behind a door frame out of clear view. When the mains arrived, things didn't improve. The food was acceptable but did not meet fine dining standards. I have dined in many upscale restaurants and have no qualms about paying for quality when deserved however, this restaurant is seriously lacking in presentation, quality and flavour.
Unfortunately my steak was not good, grisley. For the price I paid I was disappointed.
On a good note, my man enjoyed his meal.
