    The Pendergast Club is our private cigar club on the third floor of the building. With leather couches and exposed brick walls, The Pendergast Club exudes the old time elegance and sophistication of a bygone era. The club is comprised of three areas: the Board Room on the west end of the building which can seat up to 16 for dinner, the main bar lounge area which can accommodate up to 35, and the Game Room on the east end of the building which can seat up to 30 for dinner. The entire floor can also be booked for groups of up to 60 guests. Groups of up to 80 for dinner or 115 for drinks and appetizers can be accommodated in either the Main Dining Room or the Jazz Club, please call for room charges and minimums.

    I was concerned by the mixed reviews. Yes, this place is pricey, but the food and service is incredible. So if you don’t want to spend a minimum $100 per person, don’t go here. But if you love steak and want to treat yourself to prime cuts expertly cooked and served by hospitable, knowledgeable, yet unobtrusive staff, this is the place. Loads of rare whiskeys and liquors. Sauces and desserts all made in-house. The historic building and live jazz adds to the ambiance.

    Great atmosphere, fun group. The steaks were very good, but we thought a little too pricey. The service was poor. Our waitress was inattentive and forgetful. We had a table of 7 and spent $1,700...our waitress made 3 stops at the table, drink orders, dinner orders and lastly to drop off the check. There was one dessert that never showed up, and although everyone wanted coffee after dinner, there was no way to get it! You guys need to do better!

    We had stopped going to Majestic years ago after several disappointing meals. We decided to give them another chance, and our last three meals there have been outstanding. Until last night. It took over an hour to get our dinner, and when we got it the salmon was overcooked, the squash puree was as if someone spilt the salt shaker into it, the crispy spinach was great, steak fries had been cooked for a while and were lukewarm at best, the curried soup was tasty, my steak was cooked medium (I ordered Mrare) but was good, the grits were nice, but not what I ordered, and the creamed spinach was nice and hot, when it arrived. They were out of some whiskies on the list, but more than made up for it. Our server was efficient, thoughtful, but seemed swamped. Maybe they were short staffed in the kitchen. At any rate, it was more like our experiences of old, but we will give them another try, hoping it was just an off night

    Their vegetarian options are delicious and unique. Of course, the jazz is always a pleasure, but last night the bassist was the star of the combo. He was very skilled and easy to talk to during their break. I found out if you want to sit downstairs - which is always our choice - be sure to indicate that in the comment section of the reservation.

    The Majestic is the real deal for Kansas City… Authentically located in the oldest part of town, and the interior decor echoes that area without “supersized “ portions and seating… New menu has higher prices, but the selection is well thought out, and an excellent example of a prime time downtown Steak House and, presumably, an approach to a wider market… And we haven’t even talked about the outstanding musical venue down below…  put the Majestic above any of the Plaza restaurants For great food, historic atmosphere, and some of the best jazz in the US ask Shawn the bartender, who is a pro when this industry needs one!👍 but the selection is well thought out, and an excellent example of a prime time downtown Steak House

    Old school cool steak house. Nice to not be "chaining it". A bit brighter than needed for 915 rez. Server strong. Great wines to be found under 75$. We will be back.

    Historic setting. Wait staff was awesome. Great atmosphere. Was disappointed in the quality and preparation of the steaks. Wedge salad was awesome and desserts were good. My strip was rare when ordered medium. I am usually a medium rare but since it was our first time didn’t want to chance it. Drinks were awesome. Sorry I couldn’t give it 5 stars. More like 3.5 stars.

    Service was excellent. Unfortunately that's where it ends for me. The restaurant itself is very nice and the setting is great, but the food is very lacking. Instant mashed potatoes as a side item with an $85 steak is inexcusable. Steak was tough and undercooked as well. Disappointed to say the least.

    Some of the best steaks in the city. Excellent menu options, good wine list, exceptional service. This historic restaurant is a must try. And the Jazz Club was a wonderful post dinner experience.

    I would have given the Majestic 5 stars except for the fact that the lamb chops were on the small side My wife said her filet was excellent as were our salads and sides. Service was wonderful. Will be back.

    We’ve been to this restaurant many times over the years. It’s always been great. Tonight was a huge disappointment. Our waiter, Mikey, charged one of our party $1 each for 4 olives in their martini, bringing the total for a “not” top shelf martini to $18. I’ve never ever heard of a high end restaurant charging per olive. We will definitely not be returning.

    Service was great. Food was delicious although the rib eye steak my husband ordered as medium rare came out medium. And, the rib eye was a thin cut of meat, as the table next to us also commented the same regarding their steak. My petite fillets were ordered as medium and came out as rare. I had them sent back to cook more. The drinks were delicious. I don’t mind a high dollar meal when it’s worth it, but I’m on the fence about value vs cost there.

    The food and ambiance were fantastic! Our server MJ was very kind but unfortunately it looked like she was the only server in the basement that evening. She was a delight but because of the seeming lack of staff, we did have to wait a bit longer than we should’ve for our drinks, food, and requests. We will definitely be going back!

    Very nice restaurant. Excellent food and service. We ate on Tuesday so we had piano in the background, which made it very easy to hold conversation. When in KC again will stop by here again.

    Food was all fantastic, tho the sides were only average. No live jazz on a week night but they did have a pianist for an hour or Two which was nice. Barrel aged cocktails were outstanding and worth the price. Food was quite expensive but some of the best steaks and seafood we have ever tried.

    Great service, but it’s unclear on what’s included with the entree. The server made it appear sides were included yet then charged us for them. The band was a pianist, bass and percussionist and were pretty good but took a lot of breaks. Not quite the jazz club vibe I was expecting. Overall good first experience but not a must go back.

    First time here and very different than I was expecting. Mostly a large room with very little space between tables so no real privacy to speak of. Our server was very good and made some good recommendations. My wedge salad was very good. The duck fat fries were nothing to write home about. The mushrooms had little to no flavor. The blacked mac and cheese was good. The steak was disappointing. The bread pudding dessert was an incredibly small portion for what is an incredibly inexpensive item to prepare. My old fashioned was quite good. My friend’s mocktail seemed to be mostly pineapple juice with a bit of red coloring added. I’d heard such good things and had high expectations. Sadly they weren’t met

    This was a great dining experience in Kansas City. We are visiting from Tampa, Florida and a Uber driver recommended this steakhouse. Reservations were available on open table so we dined after the Sunday football game. It was a vintage secret gem. Had an old feel to it but the service, food, and drinks are impeccable and very modern. The staff were courteous and professional. Fine dining at a great price. We enjoyed the entire experience. My only regret was not dining when there was a jazz band, however we had a pianist and she played lovely music while we dined. It was great and a place to return on our next KC trip.

    First off, I love the vibe of this place. We sat in the basement with the jazz music. It was just a fun, but chill environment. However, it took us almost 2 hours to get our food. We apparently got the last 2 pieces of prime rib. But when we got it, they were cold. Like even just touching it, it felt like it was straight from the fridge. I have never once sent my food back, but if I’m paying this much for a piece of steak, I felt like it should at least be warm. So we had them heat them up. Even then, the steak was just ok. Not terrible, but not worth what we paid. All of the sides we got (bread, salad, lobster Mac and cheese, and asparagus) were all very good. Our server was super sweet. She did forget when we asked for another drink, but not the end of the world. I think I would go back, but mostly for the environment, not the food.
