The Marc Ratings and Reviews
Went for hamburger Wednesday. The food and service were excellent as always!
It was with confidence and pleasure that I invited a close friend and guest to the city to have lunch at The Marc. As I knew you would, you lived up to every expectation. Thank you.
As always, the Marc delivers with excellent flavours and consistent service. Highly recommend their soup of the day, always worth trying.
The food was excellent, the server fabulous. Visually and aurally quiet (our table being the exception). The restaurant doesn't feel "cutting edge" but rather classic and very well done.
Only negative thing is the tables are too small... limit space for all the plates/glasses/cutlery/menus when more than 2 people are sitting at the table...
Exceptional food. Has the lb and the guinea fowl. Steak tartare to start and always perfect.
Only complaint is how close the tables are, when seated you can clearly hear your neighbors conversations
They never seem to miss a beat or step wrong at The Marc. Warm welcome - check. Efficient and charming server - check. Delicious food, well presented - check. In and out in under an hour - check. Will happily return to The Marc - such a great spot!
Been going to the Marc for years. Have yet to have a bad meal. This time we tried the foie gras and crab phyllo appetizer. The foie gras was amazing, it melted in your mouth. The crab phyllo was like a spring roll filled with crab meat. For our mains we had the steak of course - excellent and done as requested. I had the chieken breast special - a little disappointing, the chicken was quite salty and the greens kind of wilted under the chicken. For dessert we shared the beignets.
Definitely one of our favourite restaurants in the city. French/European inspired cuisine, consistently high quality, good service, good selection of wine/cocktails. Whether you’re looking for a nice place to take a date or quick business lunch, you can’t go wrong with The Marc. Great food, great ambiance (bright, modern, good energy), great service. Highly recommend.
We went to the Marc for an anniversary dinner. The food was exceptional and the wait staff were friendly and relatively efficient. However, the Marc bills itself as a fine dining, special occasion restaurant and the service failed on several counts to raise itself to that level. For example, despite there being five free tables in a row in a half empty restaurant, we and two other couples on dates were seated together in three consecutive tables instead of spaced with empty tables intervening. We know that the other couples were on dates because we could hear every aspect of their conversation, despite each couple trying to speak softly and give one another privacy. I was seated closer to the person next to me than I was to my wife across the table. This made the experience awkward and really detracted from our night. We would go back to the Marc but would be more assertive about our seating to allow for some intimacy in our dining experience.
Always a good option when dining out with friends - the food is always top notch, the service is impeccable. The arctic char is done differently each time and always great. There is no loud music to get in the way of a good conversation.
Great food, amazing dinner
Attentive service even though it was very busy. Duck confit was very salty but salad and egg were well prepared.
Had read this is the place to eat, found it really underwhelming. I had slit higher expectations on the food and the atmosphere. Was way over priced for what was received.
We eat at The Marc quite regularly and we love this restaurant. The prices are reasonable and service is always top notch! The staff are knowledgeable re food and wine. And we keep coming back because of the consistent quality of food.
We have been to the Marc before and enjoyed our dining experience. On this night, we wanted to visit with friends while enjoying a delicious meal. We could actually hear each other, which we can't in many restaurants nowadays and we were not disappointed in the food or the service.
Definitely high on our list.
Food was great (with the exception of the bread basket; the Marc can/should do better) and seasoned well. Service was a bit slow and not always consistent (and we had to ask for our bread basket), but overall the food was really great and we’ll go back.
My husband and I always enjoy our date nights here!
We had such a great time at The Marc! My husband and I went with two of our friends to eat before heading to Rogers Place for a concert and everything was amazing! Our server read the table perfectly and was funny and joking around with us and also had amazing suggestions for food and drink. The restaurant was busy and lively... just the way we like it, we laughed and ate great food the entire time!
We have eaten at The Marc several times and enjoy the cooking and the professional service. The menu is short but of high quality. We were disappointed that there were no dessert options for lactose intolerant diners.
As usual the Marc hit the mark. Superior food, wine and especially service makes for a wonderful night out with friends.
Yummy Food, great environment... Had a great time.
Our experience was top notch starting with the owner opening the door to let us in and greeting us. The wait staff was sooo pleasant and the food divine. The pairing of the lemon tart with the moscato was absolutely divine.
Delicious, consistent and excellent value, with the friendliest and best trained front-of-house staff in Edmonton. This deservedly one of our regular haunts.
Everyone at our table really enjoyed the food however we all found it very pricey. The service was very good. Excellent waitress!!
$19 for a glass of wine seems pretty steep. The Pintade with mushrooms and potatoes/parsnips was so delicious!!!!! I had a glass of wine, Pintade, coffee & Baileys and a lemon tart which totalled $69. By the time I added a 20% tip (well deserved),
My bill was $82 which I found very expensive. My friends all said the same thing.
Amazing experience! Never fails to impress.
Our first visit to The Marc was very enjoyable. Great French food with some interesting specials, great service and ambiance and a lot of French wines Andrea some fun cocktails. Great for a date or a special meal.
I've been to The Marc a few times, and the food has always been outstanding. I love how the mains come with creative sides such as cannellini bean puree, Israeli Couscous, etc. It's great to have a break from the potatoes and seasonal veggies combo you find everywhere. Everything is very well executed and presented, it's really a treat for me. The ambiance is also quite nice.
Service has also been good in general. Attentive, polite (most of the time), and fast. My one complaint is that in my last visit our server did something I find EXTREMELY rude: brought the check to the table without a request from us. I actually wanted an espresso after my dinner and he didn't even ask if we needed anything else before bringing the check. I still consider this a high quality restaurant and I'd recommend it for quick dinners. But I'd stay away when looking to enjoy company in a special occasion, as I definitely felt pushed out.
Our entire experience was fantastic! We will be visiting The Marc again soon.
Very sparse variety on the menu. I had the Arctic Char, as was bland. That is being generous. I’m afraid I could not recommend this restaurant.
Food, service and ambience were excellent. We will be back.
Love it there and it’s one of the places I always go to
Lunch menu limited
Reception upon arrival is always wonderful. Service and food are the best.
Service was good. Food was mediocre for the price.
Thoroughly enjoyed your hospitality on Saturday evening Patrick and Doris! Always the same good vibe to pair with the food. M&C
Outstanding service and delicious meal. Portions are larger than I expected. Dishes were very flavourful and fresh. Will definitely return.
A very fine night out for a birthday dinner
