The Melting Pot - Arlington VA
We hadn't been in a couple years. The waitress was the high point. Multiple pieces of silverware were dirty (eg: chocolate still on the dipping sticks), the cheese course had a grape with a lot of mold on it--not a speck, but enough someone should have noticed. Salad course was drenched in dressing and the lettuce either had lots of dirt or lots of 'black' on it--gross--2 different salads had this. The drinks from the non-spirit menu were gross. So over sugared and lacking in discernable flavor. Revamp those! Some of the beef cuts were not chewable, they had so much fat in them. The other high point was the dessert menu--lots of great options on the tray of food for dipping. What stood out during this visit was the lack of attention to detail--during almost every course something was lacking and for $50/head, I expect a little more. Also it's FREEZING in there. I get that when all the pots are going it can likely get hot, but it was so uncomfortably cold. The thermostat was set at 68, but it never warmed up to a comfortable point, even when the restaurant got full. In general 4, people to share one pot was too crammed at the table. Vs another table with 5 people, got 2 pots and lots more room. Moral: bring 5 people so you get 2 pots.
This really felt like an overpriced chain restaurant and the food quality has gone downhill. There was minimal flavor to the cooking methods. The service was horrifically slow. It was just really disappointing. I used to secret shop melting pot and it was impeccable service and food. Not so much anymore.
First time here and it was a great experience. We went to celebrate a birthday and our waiter was amazing in making it special. Went out of his way to do a little birthday special dessert with what we had. Overall the experience was amazing he explained to us what everything was step by step and what he was doing next. Definitely worth the experience and plan to go again!
The server was outstanding and very personable. The only issue is that I never received my 6 free chocolate covered strawberries as an anniversary gift for being a Melting Pot member. When I arrived, I went to remind the host by showing my email I received as proof. He informed that I should have called in advance, without even checking my account/reservation first. I told him that I called days in advance and to please check. He looked at my account, telling me that he did actually see someone make a note and was sorry this wasn’t already prepared. He said he can get this taken care of and I thanked him. No one ever brought me the strawberries when we paid our check, and I obviously forgot to remind them, but shouldn’t of had to. So I never received them, and I’m disappointed.
The service and atmosphere were great. The cheese fondue was good but very little Brie used to charge more for that option, and it seemed very expensive for the overall quantity of fondue. There was no flavor to the entree meat fondue and seemed expensive as well for the quality and taste. Drinks had more ice than liquid for the price. We did not try the dessert fondue.
Anniversary dinner. It was fantastic as usual!
Our server was amazing. Really knew the menu and helped guide us through our meal. Very friendly and helpful.
The service was fantastic but it cost us $200 for a family of four (2 of which were young children). If we do it again we will not get the entrée and will only go on very special occasions.
My friends and I went to the Melting Pot to celebrate an award I received at work. Our waiter was amazing the steak and chicken tasted a little off.
Good food Good service. Excellent family time together. .
Always a good time, and the food is amazing. Service is always on point as well!
This was my first experience with the Melting Pot and i must say i was very impressed. Our waiter was excellent, he explained everything and was extremely courteous. The restaurant was very clean and provided a great atmosphere for our evening out. My wife and I were given a gift card for the restaurant as a wedding gift and we were very happy with everything. The food was delicious (all four courses) and my favorite was the dessert (I'm a big chocolate lover). I will be recommending the Melting Pot to my friends and my wife and I look forward to coming back. Keep up the great work!
I love the new grill option! We had a lovely time - the food was fabulous as always, and our server was just awesome.
Fun birthday celebration for my son. The server was fine but the communication around the menu was not super clear. It takes some time to get oriented.
Have never had a bad meal there. LOVE The Melting Pot. A bit pricey, but the food, service and experience is well worth it!
Greeters and the person who sat us down were awesome. Very friendly. Our waiter was kind but she definitely had some heavy hands. Our drinks spilled when she slammed our glasses down, and changing out the pots and stirring was cumbersome to watch. I’m a frequent Melting Pot customer and I know the drill. I brought my cousin there for her first time, and told our waiter to give us the works. Explain this and that, but we got nothing. The cheese was bacon and beef overpowered by the wine so we barely tasted that. The entrees were good, but my cousin is vegetarian and had that alternative and she was not a fan of the tofu or meatballs. She doesn’t like artichoke and that’s all they had. Luckily we had plenty of raw veggies so she ate most of those. The best part was the chocolate fondue. Our waters weren’t refilled and we had to ask for that, and asking more of one of the sauces had to be reminded. By the time she got back with it we already finished our meal we didn’t even need it. I wish my cousin had a better first time experience since MP is one of my fav restaurants. Too bad this location can’t be one of them. Oh! Also, the garage was nice to have underground, but be aware you’re going to have to go to through some weird doors and next to a trash shoot area or something because it stinks before getting into the restaurant.
Teesh was the best server ever!!!!! You should request to sit in her section.
Met some friends here for the Girls Night Out event. None of us had ever been and were excited for the experience. The service was exceptional and the food was tasty. This is something we will definitely do again. Prepare to be there for 2 -3 hours because this meal is not to be rushed.
The Melting Pot is truly a fun place for special occasions!
Good food. Great service
This was my family's first time at the Melting Pot. It's quite an investment of time and money. We would only return for dessert. The dinner is not that good, but dessert was awesome.
Great experience. We went for my son’s 13th birthday. He loved it!
The Melting Pot was so bad in so many ways. Also, it is so expensive. The only thing that made it bearable was that it was so bad and expensive that we laughed our butts off looking at each other's faces grimacing how bad it was. I was so furious, that my wife and the kids were laughing at me and threatening me to be nice. I was...we survived the ordeal. Thank you Lord for such a great time and terrible food experience. Don't know why some of the other reviews had one or two bad experiences or issues yet gave a 5 star rating. If you read carefully the other reviews, many admit having one or another issue with food and/or service. I'm definitely not returning. 😟😞😖😤🤑😭🤢🤮🤬😡🤪😬😰😨🤭🤐🤐😏🙄😑
Always a fun time when me and my girls get together. A little pricey but fun and worth the experience. I highly recommend the flaming turtle for the chocolate course!
While too pricey for regular a dinner outing, the costs were reasonable for the level of service and food. Our server was patient, informational and cordial. Our family enjoyed our dinner and we definitely see ourselves coming back for special occasions.
The food here is always outstanding, delicious and fresh. The cheese and chocolate fondue are to die for. And the service is awesome too. Jose our server was the best, we had dinner at the Arlington location but he actually works regularly at the Gaithersburg restaurant, he was funny friendly , respectful , we really liked him. Thanks Jose for great service!
For It Being My First Time...Everything Was Absolutely Amazing and Perfect !!!
I always have a great time here! The staff treats me like family lol ...they have me my time alone but then also had perfect timing when coming to check in me! I love it! As always
just ehhhhh for a melting pot- I don't think we will return to this location. We love the Meting Pot but we were there for a birthday- no acknowledgement- zero, the server had way too many tables. Things took FOREVER to get to our table if they came at all. Just not super pleasant for a $450 meal.
Overall a fun dinner date. Understaffed, but our waiter worked very hard and was running back and forth constantly.
Really great service by Manuel for four adults, one toddler and one infant... Thanks so much for being so kind and patient!
It was fun for us first timers. We went to celebrate a birthday. This is a slow, social meal. However, there was a lot of dead time waiting for the next part of the meal. Would have rated service higher except waiter kept forgetting that our birthday honoree had a gluten allergy. Plates of dippers mixed in pretzels, bread, brownies, pond cake. Each course, we had to remind the waiter to bring a separate gluten free plate which meant our honoree was left waiting an extraordinarily long time.
Great for special occassions and for restaurant week as well. Full meal is delicious and lets you be totally spoiled ! Lots of options of food types for each course. And for chocolate lovers, the chocolate fondues are decadent and delicious!
And a huge bonus is the calorie ranges are listed throughout the menu to help making dinner choices!
We Went their for DC restaurant week. So was a good price. Been meaning to try it. Had a great waiter . 4 course meal. Private little booth for the two of us. Food was good and interesting . The waiter was very helpful and always offering more of this or tht.
We have been to a number of Melting Pot Restaurants in numerous states. This was by far one of the poorer experiences. All our previous experiences included highly attentive staff...this experience was not so. Drinks sat empty, and the courses moved very slow. Food was amazing as always and even though the manager was very visible and helping, it just didn’t live up to the high quality we have come to know and expect from The Melting Pot.
Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was a bit warm in the restaurant, but I guess that is to be expected when your cooking at your table.
Food and service was excellent. We were seated at a two person horseshoe-shaped booth with the fondue pot off center, which made it difficult to reach the fondue pot without dripping across the table but we made due. Nothing to be done about the noise level unless you asked the loud ladies around us to tone it down so we dealt with it by asking each other to repeat things during our dinner conversation. Otherwise, my husband and I loved every bit of the four-course meal. Looking forward to our next visit.
Note: probably the best place for ladies night, post break-up sympathy night or date night. Expect to spend $$.
Too slow Food so so
Waiter was very helpful
I donor pl N on teturning
Fondue is always a nice change of pace and fun alternative. The food was great with lots of variety and ample quantities for dipping from the cheeses to the breads to the meat and desserts. Service was a little on the slow side.
This particular visit to the Melting Pot was very disappointing. We’ve been there before and the food is overpriced but the experience is fun and the kids like it. This time we had terrible service- sat there for 20 minutes before we received water. I finally said something and they comped us a round of drinks which was nice but id rather have great service. Waiter forgot that we were celebrating 2 birthdays. Never checked to see if we needed sauces replenished, etc (luckily the maitre de did). Waiter never offered any explanation or apology. Overall very poor service for a pricey meal.
