   Overall the experience was excellent. The ambience was much better than in previous visits. It was very quiet. The cost is right at my upper limit but for a couple dinners per year on special occasions it’s our go to.

   Food didn’t settle with me or with my wife. The cooking times for the various meats is somewhat confusing. Sadly, the dessert part was the only thing we really enjoyed. Seems fairly expensive for what you get, which is some chopped up bread and various things dip and cheese and chocolate. Our server was excellent.

   I can’t exactly pinpoint when the Tacoma Melt Pot started to go downhill. It’s been a gradual decline over the past few years. This used to be our favorite date night. A few years ago we probably dined at MP twice a month. The food was good, nice service and fun atmosphere. This place used to be hopping. It’s a ghost town now. Our date night at MP was so bad that we weren’t mad. My wife and I started laughing at comedy. The salad was wilted, our waitress had zero idea how to make the cheese. She dumped in enough liquid base for a table of 6 but only added cheese for two. It was cheese milk. It was so bad we just laughed. Service was awful. She could not get anything right. I felt bad for her until I saw her flirting it up in kitchen. She did care about us. She just wanted some attention and chat all night. It’s just a bizarre, empty place now.

   My family has dined here before and the service on this visit was so disappointing we may not return. Our server didn’t seem to have a good understanding of the menu and wasn’t able to answer a question we had. We ordered soft drinks and a cocktail. The soft drinks came promptly but the cocktail didn’t arrive until after the cheese course and only after I asked about it again. It had clearly been sitting on the bar for some time as the ice had melted and watered the drink down. She did replace it but too little too late at that point. The cheese course was “thin” - almost watered down or not enough cheese. Another table had the same complaint. We enjoy this place and style of restaurant, but will likely look elsewhere next time because of the poor service experience.

   Food came out too quick. We wouldn’t be finished with one course before the next one was out. Water glass had caked on old food on it. Portions were smaller than normal. We ran out of the dippers for the cheese and weren’t offered anymore but the table next to us was. We have dined here many times and this time was probably the worst.

   It was good. Staff was good and food was good.its still a fun experience. Price is still over the top, but it is what it is.

   We visit the melting pot two times a year. Each visit gets more expensive and the portions get smaller. we had five people and the cost was almost $700 before tip. We understand it’s and experience and you pay extra for that so we go in knowing we’re going to pay above normal restaurant rates. five years ago the service at Melting Pot was outstanding and made us feel good about the experience. the last two times the service has been what you’d expect at a casual dining restaurant like Red Robin and definitely not up to the standards of a restaurant that’s charging a significant premium on their food.

    I used to come here back in the day when I was younger and liked it. It was the IT place to go. The last time I visit this place was in 2016 until last night June 2024. It was looked the same!! At first I thought it was closed until I pulled on the handle. Walked in and it's still depressing, blah, looks the same and dark inside. There was maybe a handful of people in the place working. The waiter was only 1 of 3 and he was able to get to us 20 min after we sat down to get our drinks. He did apologized and said there's only 3 waiters working. (if they were short handed then how come no one from the front helped? at least help with drink orders) The food was the SAME -nothing new. I 'm very surprised this place is still in business especially with Gauchos next door. (which we frequent a lot) You can tell the waiter was upset and then informed us this is he's last month due to the way the company treated their employees and they took almost 80% of their tips to split between the house ( which is F#*& and not ok) They need a makeover of the leadership team if they are going to save this place.
