   We have been twice, first time was amazing, second time was a let down. We ordered 3 dishes plus dessert. one of the three dishes was very good (the pork) the calamari and the tacos were flavorless and nothing special. The dessert we got though was amazing. We also went with another couple who said their pork sliders were also very bland. Was disappointed with the experience.

   We went before a jets game, so it was probably louder than usual But it was SO loud I couldn’t hear my friend from across the table They also sat us in a very strange spot between two large loud tables everytime Someone had to get out their buts we’re skimming our table. They changed their menu and their drink menu since I was there last Wings were good Probably won’t go back Limited menu and just poor ambiance

   Overall we enjoyed our meal at The Merchant Kitchen. The atmosphere was cool and laid back. Lots of seating at the bar and also as the back around the kitchen area. The calamari was good but lacked some flavour. The chips and dip was plentiful and the guacamole had a nice kick to it. The Cuban sliders were incredible… so flavourful. The pollo tacos had a great combination of slaw and pico but the chicken needed some more moisture. The service was good and we would definitely go back.

   We had a party of 12. The service was great. Food is amazing. We got a bunch of large plates so everyone could try everything. We will be back!!

    Food was great and our server was good as well. However, I had a bit of an awkward experience when a group of friends showed up as they were looking for a place to have some food and drinks while my party of four was nearing the end of our reservation. It was a party of 4 granted and didn’t have a reservation ; yet the restaurant was not packed by any means and had plenty of room to accommodate as we looked around and saw a lot of open tables. They ended up going to Browns Social house instead when told they were not able to be accommodated. Seems like a missed opportunity as I feel like the Merchant Kitchen could have accommodated them even at our table as we had plenty of room. Also, I was buying a round of drinks for that same party prior to them leaving (because again merchant kitchen couldn’t accommodate them) and was asked if they were at a table or not…which was slightly annoying because I mentioned I will be paying for the round at the bar. I see no reason why this would be relevant as they were leaving and I wanted to pay for their drinks. Again what was again annoying was as we wrapped our reservation (closer to 8pm) we still saw plenty of open tables in the restaurant and were baffled why they could not accommodate the party of 4 that wanted to join us. I am all for making a reservation but really unless your systems showed you’re fully booked , the place itself showed the opposite and looked quite dead. Not sure what the went on there but I feel like it would have made a more memorable night as we don’t go out very often and will be re-considering where we take our business the next time we decide to dine out downtown.

    Had the sliders and Dan Dan noodles. The noodles were very spicy! I could hardly eat them and I am a spice person. The sliders were amazing! Our waitress was very nice and tended to us and made good conversation.

    Awesome experience. Had the Dan Dan Noodles and first came out too spicy for us so they took it back a redid it. Super appreciated the extra effort they went to remake the food!

    The food was excellent. The corn plate and the Dan Dan noodles are must orders. The service was also great. It is quite loud inside, but it lends itself to a fun and social vibe that I think many would enjoy.

    First time going to merchant kitchen. Cuban sliders and Dan Dan noodles were the star of what we ordered. The scallops were decent but the radicchio was on the bitter side which left an off taste in your mouth. Really enjoyed the family style service where you get to share everything. Cocktails and desert were also great. Next time will definitely try the fried chicken and tacos!

    We went before a Jets game. The place was packed! From the high vibing patrons to the attentive staff, there was lots of energy and with that = loud banter. The food was amazing. It came fast, was fresh, and didn't leave us hungry. Will be back for sure. IF you're looking for an intimate dinner... don't go on a game day.

    Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Meal was well paced. Relaxed upscale ambiance. For 2 people, we had the tempura broccolini, crispy fried rice and 1/2 order of Korean fried chicken. All dishes were delicious. The chicken could possibly be enough for 3 people depending on how hungry you are as the portions are large. Especially loved the lemongrass tart.

    new to winnipeg and went hear for supper by myself. staff was unreal and i loved hearing them joke around with each other. my server was dope af and walked me through the menu and gave me an idea of what to get. cocktails were so good, food was impeccable and the environment was top notch cozy, comfortable and modern. 15/10 recommend the merchant if you want a nice downtown eating experience ✨

    Food was delicious. However when we were billed and paid, we noticed when she double billed us for a half Korean chicken ($30) and was approached to ask about it, she proceeded to yell at me. That is unexceptable in any establishment. Instead of refunding the credit card she tossed cash on the table and proceeded to continue being rude. I will come back for food, but will definitely not let her ever serve us again.

    Overall, we had a great experience on a busy game night. Our server missed a small part of the order but made it right in the end. Food is always delicious. Broccolini, Tacos and Dan Dan noodles were a hit.

    Overall enjoyed our lunch, Had the Dan Dan Noodles which I usually get, this time there were a lot of onions which I am not a fan of. I will try to remember to say just a sprinkle next time. Service was great and staff was friendly. Had Earl Grey tea in those really cool cups!

    Food was very good as usual. Chicken is insanely good. Disappointed in the “new” superfood salad- good but not nearly as good as original. Bring it back!! Service was absent at first but likely due to jets crowd just leaving but was obvious when the place was empty. improved quite a bit over the night
