Excellent service and food. Craig was awesome. Will ask to be seated in his area section in May when we come back.
Food was excellent! Delicious. Music bit too loud. Highly recommend
The food was amazing... I can’t say enough good things about it or the atmosphere. However, the service left a lot to be desired... which distracted from our experience. We waited for an extremely long time between our plates being cleared and the waitress checking back on us. Once she returned we opted to ask for the bill instead of investing more time in dessert and more drinks as we originally planned.
Fantastic food and knowledgeable server. A great brunch!
Spent $125 for 2 adults and 2 children under the age of 10. My husband and I ordered eggs Benedict. We ordered our eggs medium, since last time we ordered them the eggs were practically rare. This time our eggs were over cooked. When paying over $100 for eggs and coffee I would expect that they are prepared properly. The waitress never asked us how our meal was. When she first saw us sitting st our table she mouthed “oh my god”. She has served us before, but I’m not sure why she said this. It was uncomfortable. We are regular customers, but our last few experiences have been underwhelming.
The whole experience was good - we had fun! But our food was really disappointing.
Delicious brunch. My partner had the Eggs Benny (really good) and I had the Chicken and Waffles special (also really good). Our reservation was at 10:30, when it opens. Great timing to beat the rush and have first grabs at everything.
The food was amazing. Wait times weren’t bad. Service wasn’t overly friendly from the waitress- I requested a table change which I felt wasn’t appreciated. The tables themselves are tiny. The cooking staff didn’t appear to be wearing any hair or beard nets (as most of the chefs were bearded). The menu online wasn’t the same as in restaurant. Although I really enjoyed the food, I probably won’t return anytime soon.
Excellent meal. Fabulous atmosphere.
Great food and atmosphere. The portions are fair for cost.
Awesome food, wine & service. Always enjoyable.
Awesome service! Food was absolutely delicious! Can’t wait to go again!
Great vibe. Fabulous servers. Reasonably priced. Spicy Caesar is a great brunch beverage.
I had the eggs benedict and it was delicious. My husband had the Newfoundland breakfast but didn't enjoy it as much. The beef sausage was more of a pudding and the fish cake didn't seem to contain much fish. He wanted to substitute the touton for toast but was told he had to add the toast instead which, of course, meant an extra cost. The price of his breakfast seemed a bit overpriced whereas the other features seemed reasonable - $28.00 is a bit expensive for breakfast. We've gone to other restaurants and received the same for roughly $15-$20.
Overall, I would return and order the eggs benedict again but my husband would definitely pass.
Overall it was a fabulous evening. the food was awesome and the service was great.
Our server, Alex, was extremely professional! The food was amazing (as always)! Would definitely recommend their Burger Battle entry!
Always a great experience and amazing food! Can’t wait to return !
Yes - and I do all the time! Food is always amazing and the menu additions are always so creative.
The food and service was excellent
Excellent food, excellent service, great ambience. A little pricey, but probably worth the price.
Great meal and service
Great place to meet up with friends for fab locally sourced food and interesting cocktails (or just good wine) in upbeat surroundings with staff that are clearly chosen for their interpersonal skills (and collegiality with their coworkers....I like watching how well they interact with one another - the recipe works! It gives the place an overall positive vibe.)
During our visit to your restaurant i will say that the staff were amazing, really friendly, knowledgeable and they strive to make your experience good. However, there were some issues i did find upon our first visit at this location:
1. We found this restaurant very noisy and loud, it was very hard to have a conversation with my date, as it almost felt as if you were yelling at each other.
2. I found all the food to be extremely salty, i do not know if this is by design, however it was a turn off. We have two appetizers, and two mains and deserts, and all of them were very salty. Some of which could not be finished due to high salt taste.
3. The cost is very high for what we did receive. I have found that other locations around the city, offer the same quality of food, at a fraction of the cost.
4. The tables for two are two small or your serving dishes are too large. I found our table was overcome with dishes, with no room to enjoy the meal. I felt as with every movement something was going to fall off of the table, and it was very awkward to eat, having no room. I would either increase the table size, or make the serving dishes smaller.
Always pleased with our meal at Merchant!! Delicious and fun place!
The seating is too close together. It was like dining with people you don’t know. The food was okay. We had heard a lot of good things about this place. We were disappointed. Apart from the good, the service was excellent.
Went for Brunch my first time being there and was blown away with how amazing it all was. Great food, great service and a great atmosphere!
We had a family brunch and the food was excellent. The kids really enjoyed the pancake stack and hash browns and both the Eggs Benedict and Chicken and waffles were superb.
I absolutely love the brunch at Merchant Tavern. The biscuits were superb and I love the addition of oatmeal to the brunch menu!
Had a delicious squash sauce pasta with seafood soup. Also enjoyed a wonderful French wine😊
A group of five of us dined here on New Years Eve. Food was fabulous. Service super attentive. Affordable, and so much more. Highly recommend.
Always incredible, the design, ambience and most of all the food is out of this world.
We were absolutely blown away by the food. The “From Eden” cocktail was just fabulous, as were the mussels, the burger, the duck...and the madeleines were mind-boggling. Just wow.
Service on this particular Saturday was extremely slow; definable not their usual. Just the two of us but wine at table about 15 min after order and my beer was another 5 minutes late. The crispy chicken burger was overcooked and in fact “burned to a crisp” on one side yet the fries were cold. Way below usual level of service. Will go again as it has been much better than this on many previous occasions. This visit was definitely a miss.
Very poor fish and chips. Reheated and burnt. Tartar sauce badly spiced
Service was above and beyond. Food was excellent!!!
Evening meal with work colleagues. Great food and service in a lovely downtown setting.
Food and cocktails were amazing as always. Loved the new squash vegetarian addition!
We had a meal there Saturday night past, the food was excellent, the atmosphere was lively, and the service was great! We shared the mussels and fries for an appetizer, then both had the scallops special for entrees, and a chocolate dessert. It was the perfect amount of food, and everything tasted exceptionally good. It's a treat to be able to watch the hustle and bustle of the open kitchen while you eat, and I love the central bar as well. It's always a great experience and a treat to dine at Merchant.
There was no gluten free options, did not have potato or rice as a side option. Prices were high and I had to make a reservation. Then left without ordering anything. I was disappointed!
Excellent time and excellent service !!!
We had a group sitting and had the best time ! 2 weeks in a row
