Housemade hot sauce was the perfect touch to the brunch special. Perfect way to celebrate our anniversary.
Awsome food , service and atmosphere!! 👌
The food was outstanding and the staff went out of their way to accommodate a colleague with a mobility issue.
Can't wait to come back and eat at the Merchant again!
Can’t food, steak was done to perfection!!! Service was amazing and server was very knowledgeable-made an excellent wine suggestion.
Fantastic as always. Second time and you guys never disappoint.
Meal was fabulous! I had the smoked muscle pasta (small which was plenty for me) and loved it. My friend had the halibut and felt the same. It was a nice evening and I will definitely return!
First time at the merchant and it was superb. The appetizer I had, the beef tartare, was amazing, flavourful and satisfying. The main, steak and frites were just how a steak and fries should be which was excellent. The dessert, Vinegar pie, was different. First time having something like it. It was light which made it great. The only problem I had with it was the blueberries were more bitter/sour tasting than anything else which was a little disappointing. The server was exceptional and pleasantly straightforward. Which is perfect.
Overall, fantastic. Loved the atmosphere, the inside was gorgeous and it was exciting watching the kitchen work in there since you can see the kitchen. Which was a treat to say the least.
Wonderful as always!! Brunch is my favorite treat and the Merchant doesn’t disappoint.
Always order the pork, great stuff
Great night out...everything was awesome! Requested a seating change as we were seated between two couples and if I spread my elbows I would have touched the men sitting on either side of me at the other table. Thankfully they were able to seat us at the Raw Bar...that is like having dinner and a show! Mesmerizing to watch how the kitchen works and the staff interacts...everyone was truly interested in knowing that we were having a good time and that we enjoyed the food. Jeremy Charles was onsite that evening and it was cool watching him put finishing touches on most dishes that left the kitchen. Can't wait to go back!
The brunch was delicious. Everything qas made fresh, came out hot and tasted wonderful. Definitely recommend!
Amazing food and service!
Food was good, service was great but very noisy atmosphere. I felt like I was in a sports bar with no TVs.
Great experience as always
Our food was great. The restaurant is a little loud but that is the nature of the restaurant so it’s to be expected. Our server was sweet but a little forgetful. Overall we enjoyed it and will come back.
Very loud, and server talked very quickly, difficult to understand
Our Favourite place to have Sunday Brunch
Took us an hour to get food. Wait staff was very good, but food was not as good as I typically enjoy there. Caesar salad was terrible. Most visits have been good, but overall not great this time around.
I booked for our anniversary and I guess I should have planned the night better. We were seated next to the bar on a two seater which was very busy.
Food was excellent but I even though I explained the occasion was an anniversary when I reserved with open table...I should have called in advance to double check where we were seated. Very loud and busy with waiters whizzing past.
Did not think it would have been an issue for a Wednesday night ..Lol
We were not served for 20 minutes after being seated for dinner. So we left. Nobody even noticed or said goodbye when we left. All of this happened notwithstanding there seemed to be a lot of staff working at the restaurant. Not impressed.
All very good but music, amongst the crowd noise, was a little too high.
Beautiful place. Great service. A little too loud - hard to hear your dining partners at time. Food was good but overpriced - we all had pastas. 33$ for a bowl of pasta is a bit much I think.
Music was extremely loud and made the experience much less than favorable for a Sunday brunch.
Overall a less than ideal experience. This was primarily the result of poor service which may have been an exception for this restaurant. 1 of the meals (out of 4) was substandard and was not fixed. They offered free wine for that individual which did not solve the issue of the 1 star meal. They should have just replaced the meal. Clearly too busy to want to deal with it.
Favourite restaurant in St. John's. Consistent and phenomenal every time. Go and get the steak frites!
Delicious food, good service and nice atmosphere. A bit pricy for what you get but the food was excellent.
The food was good but very, very overpriced in my opinion. It was very noisy. We had a reservation as tourists in Saint John's but on arrival, was offered a table with bar stools in very close proximity to the bar. Two issues - one very noisy. Much more problematic was that my wife is disabled from a stroke and has great difficulty sitting on and climbing on to a bar stool. I asked to be switched to a regular table (there were at 20 such seats empty when we arrived). I was told this was not possible - they were all reserved. This was not very impressive - to force a disabled person to sit in an unsuitable chair. We had a much better meal for less money at Clinched the evening before.
Had a wonderful meal. Food was fabulous and service was excellent. Only one negative comment. Ordered the beef tar tar that was served with small toasted breads. Not enough breads to compliment the tar tar. Asked for a couple of extra pieces, that were served in a timely manner. Got our bill and we were charged $2.00 for the extra bread. Our total bill was in excess of $200.00 (including tip ) but that left a sour taste at the end of a nice evening.
Enjoyed the music during brunch. Fun place to be food was great
Delicious food in a beautiful restaurant and fabulous staff. The bench seats should have pillows for back support.
Great food and awesome service!!
As always the food was good. Live music is always a bonus. Server is friendly and helpful.
Great restaurant in St. John's with an interesting menu of food and drink. Very large setting. We could only get reservation at 5:30 (did it too late) and within 15 minutes, the place was starting to get very busy. By the time we left, after delicious meal and great service, it was jammed. Only objection was level of music, which we found too loud. Definitely go back.
Awesome food and atmosphere!
Made a reservation for Sunday brunch. When we arrived, there was a note on the door from the previous night saying that the restaurant's dinner service would be cancelled for that night because of a "system failure". The message contained no information/update for those customers arriving for brunch. NOR WERE WE NOTIFIED BY A PHONE CALL OR TEXT. My husband and I wasted the time getting there, and then were further inconvenienced by having to find another place to eat. This is not the way that a so-called high-end restaurant should operate - with no respect and appreciation for the valuable time of their customers, or in our case, EX-customers.
The red headed server was so positive. The food was amazing. Can’t wait to go back
Excellent food and service. Second visit for me. Definite must when travelling to St John's.
We were late due to parking. I called ahead to let them know. It was our anniversary. They gave our table away. We showed up and couldn't stay. We were extremely disappointed.
The food was excellent but the noise
Level was a bit much
