Great ambience, the staff are extraordinarily knowledgeable about what is on your plate, what is available and seem to have quite a few relevant and interesting anecdotes. The views, oh, the views from the appropriately name “Observatory” are so magical and breathtaking. The view paired with the meal as if it were a fine wine, it seemed to accentuate the taste. You definitely pay for what you get and the experience was well with the price.
The food was good but it took so long to finally get seated .. like 20 min and when we were done we had to wait 10 min just to get our coats because no one was ever at the fron t desk. Did not feel like a high end restaurant other than the food
Quite amazing night out with my wife
The restaurant is nice and cozy with beautiful view. Service was very good.
For food it was okay, nothing to brag about wish they had more options. We order baked oysters, chicken for 2 and the tart for dessert.
Our waitress was great
Knowledgeable and helpful
Helped guide us in our selection of wines
Seemed to REALLY enjoy her work
From Northern Ontario, can't wait to come back
Excellent view, service, vegetarian appetizers and meal. The fact that you don’t have to pay the $55.00 to get up the hill with a reservation here is icing in the cake. Although it stipulates you can only go up an hour early, on the Thursday of our reservation, we were let up almost 2 hours early when we didn’t plan travel time properly. It allowed us time to enjoy the whole area before our reservations and take plenty of pics of the beautiful sunset.
Would recommend with hesitation to price verses portion size.
everything was good but the service was amazing! thanks for that
Excellent service and delicious food, not to mention the million dollar view! The only negative is the restaurant is a bit too dark which makes it difficult to read the menu and see the dishes clearly.
Great view and enjoyable meal. Ride up and back very nice.
The view was spectacular and the service was amazing. I have to say it was the best experience I have had in Canada
Good food, great ambiance and an experience worth remembering. The service staff were especially courteous, well informed and extremely helpful. Their warm welcome added to the overall wonderful experience.
Going up and down the muntain on the Skyride in the dark added to the excitement!
Great food! In fact one of the best we have ever had in addition to good service and great ambience. The Observatary is now our favorite restaurant in Vancouver. We really had a good night.
Service not as good as the food.
My boyfriend and I went to The Observatory for our anniversary dinner last week of October. The service was great, they gave us the table by the window just as requested on the OpenTable reservation. James was our main server, but Heidi also assisted us in the desserts' choice. We highly recommend them! For dinner, we had the chicken for two, which was a great portion and delicious! Thank you for a great night!
For an experience that costs nearly $300 for two, you would expect the service to be exquisite and the attention to detail on par with any fine dining establishment (or even a modest casual eatery). Unfortunately, that was not the case here. Despite being told that diners have a two hour limit at the outset, I ordered the recommended five course tasting - an experience I later learned, that is supposed to last 2.5 hours. It is most unfortunate to anyone else in the party who does not order this because their main entrees will not be served until nearly 2 hours after ordering. In any other restaurant, this would be unthinkable - but when we raised the issue to management, we were told that this was standard. We had to repeatedly ask for water (at least twice before it was served) and the service was sloppy (their fingers/hands grazed the tops of utensils as they were being placed on the table several times). I had high hopes here, especially since I drove across North America and planned a vacation around Grouse Mountain, with the dinner as the pinnacle of the experience. Unfortunately, it was a huge let down.
Great restaurant, delicious food, excellent service, amazing views
Amazing experience. Surrounded by awesome server and cook. Appreciated eat with the most beautiful view on metro Vancouver. I'll be right back.
Great view, great food, great drinks. Wish it had been a clearer evening, but hard to time the weather. Menu is very short and sweet.
We really enjoyed the food. I was surprised that there was good sized servings and found the cost to be around what I expected for this class of restaurant. The view was spectacular.
Nice as always. Seated at near the door (not facing the windows) although some tables seemed to be available. Good food; worth the money given the free gondola ride.
Lovely dinner spot with a scenic view of Vancouver. Small restaurant and select menu- a unique dinner experience for out of town guests! Service became dismal towards the end of our meal which ruined an otherwise wonderful meal. Our server became distracted with other tables, forgot about us and the wait between the last price fixe dishes and last round of drinks was too long. A sloppy finish.
Was a beautiful treat for 3 of us who have never been and one was an out of town guest! Service was really good as well as food!
The restaurant was amazing. I would give it 5 stars but I found it a little unpleasant that I told them it was my girlfriend´s birthday ahead of time and when we arrived, and I had to order her a desert and pay for it. I think it should be courtesy from the restaurant to do so. Anyhow, everything else was enjoyable and we had a lovely evening.
If you are fortunate to go up Grouse Mountain on a clear day, you cannot get a better view of the entire panorama than from The Observatory. They were friendly and unobtrusive, and the food and drinks were outstanding. We shall be back!
We were very impressed with the food, however, the service was terrible. We were told that the restaurant was short staffed that day but do not feel that a lack of staff explains gruff and rude behaviour. The server did not ask how we would like our steak done, and when called back to the table to discuss this with him, he was obviously annoyed and irritated that we would bother him. Generally, we felt as though we were in his way, as opposed to customers who were valued. The service of the manager was excellent though.
Views and experience are obviously unique and amazing but the food was also very good. It is on par with other high end Restaraunts. It is not a bargain but on a sunny evening you will enjoy a very good meal at an amazing venue.
Had a great chat with a waitress, we came with our visitors from Czech republic and she was able to have a conversation in Czech with them. It was great. She was very nice. Our waitress was also very nice and knowledgeable and gave us good recommendations about the dishes, she was right on with everything she said.
Food overall was good but could have been more flavorful.
We had a wonderful evening the The Observatory at Grouse Mountain. The food was delicious. However, I have to say it was the excellent service that would bring me back. There were a few minor gliches that were dealt with wonderfully and with grace so our evening was even more special. I would highly recommend the experience, the sights and the food. J
Amazing! Breathtaking! Incredible service! Sarah was the best! I’ll go back with my friends and family!
Pretty disappointed. That was my 4th time there in the last 10 years but it was the first time for my husband as I wanted to bring him somewhere nice for his birthday. Beside the bread, the rest of the food are not appetizing, not that good of the taste either. Definitely not 5 stars restaurant. I wish I can post photos the presentation are bad overall. We ordered the salmon rice for my 4 year old. Boy they just throw the rice over the plate and put the fish on top. Some of the rice were crunchy, probably from the bottom of the rice cooker. That shouldn’t be a kid meal. No decoration on the kid meal? At least put the rice in a bowl for the shape before putting on a plate. As for our food, nothing special with the taste, but I am sorry the presentation are terrible. The waitress was very nice, that’s a plus. The manager sent two scoops of sorbet for my husband birthday even tho there’s three of us. Oh well. When we walked in we waited about 3 mins standing because the front desk guy was busy on the phone. Some ladies walked out from the back office and none of them greet any of us, one of them was the one who served the sorbet at the end. Anyways from service to food for sure not 5 stars.
Sehr freundlicher Empfang. Sehr aufmerksamer Service.
This dinner date was very last minute so we were not dressed up but dressed casual. First the staff were all friendly and the food was great, what I and my date did not receive was the care and welcoming of a 5 star dining experience. The waiter was crearly preoccupied with either other people or something. Just didn't feel that we were being shown the same level of importance as other guests being served by other servers. Although one lady was quite nice and brought us bread and did ask how the food was
Empty plates sat on the table for close to 10 minutes before someone was waved down for a bill and to clear the plates . I have been to the observitoy a couple times in the past and it has allways been a delight from the view to the staff, this time it just felt that we were being overlooked.
Beautiful view - excellent service, great food
Had a great time
Elegant, delicious and the views are spectacular when the weather is clear! A must for anyone visiting Vancouver!
We were earlier than anticipated. Staff was a little to slow and too schematic to react on this. Food was great!
This was a very nice experience. The restaurant was clean and we felt very welcome. Unfortunately we had poor view with lots of rain. The view would have been stunning if it was clear.
The food portions are small for the cost, but what we got was very tasty.
Very good food! The breads with butter were awesome! Great deal to get to the mountain without buying for the sky rides!
Waiter was not confident with his service, seemed very confused and stressed, but a very pleasant man regardless.
Best beef tenderloin I’ve ever had. Recommend 100%
