The Plume of Feathers
Monday - Sunday: 12pm - 10pm
Great meal as always. Excellent choice of lunches, good service and lovely atmosphere.
Excellent. Great location, service and menu. Will definitely visit again. 5 ⭐️
Fabulous food and friendly staff..highly recommend
Good food and staff, would recommend and definitely visit again.
Excellent good quality food in old world pub with modern annex. We were staying locally and chose to eat there most evenings.
Good value for money, rather quiet, menu could do with update
I recall when the place had been first converted from a basic pub - the owners have done a fantastic job to provide good, wholesome food at fair prices for this area.
All very good, but why serve a pannacota on a hot dish!
WRONG TIME BOOKED BY STAFF, WRONG MEALS BROUGHT TO TABLE, CHARGED A DRINK WE DIDN'T HAVE. TABLES NEED REFURBISHING PEELED TOPS AND NOISY. THE FOOD WAS GOOD WHEN WE GOT IT JUST LIKED IT IS AT LEWINNICK LODGE BUT A VERY DIFFERENT DINING EXPERIENCE WHICH IS SHAME AS IT WAS OUR 45TH WEDDING.
A very pleasant Sunday evening meal assisted with a very nice reisling.
Great food that’s not too expensive. A little restrictived menu but what’s on offer is delicious
Great pub/restaurant in small village. Large conservatory which was bright and cheerful. Good Sunday lunch, although chicken was dry. Good choice of vegetables served separately and puddings to die for. Very family friendly. Quite prices but very nice.
Our first visit to the Plume of Feathers: we are a family of four living in Cornwall. Had a great night, friendly service, good food, and we liked the timber restaurant extension. The pub part also looked good for a drink, or after dinner relax. Food arrived quickly and was very good: the pie of the day and chocolate brownie were tasty and good sized (I shared the huge brownie with my daughter). Only criticism is the lack of vegetarian options: one daughter is a vegan and there was nothing for her, unlike Lewinnick Lodge which we all love. A good night out, though we're unlikely to go again until there are veggie options for the girls.
Really friendly atmosphere as we walked in. Quickly shown to our table and orders taken. Food was nicely presented, hot and importantly tasted great.
Another splendid meal in a fantastic setting with brilliant attentitive staff. Would like just a little more choice for vegetarians on the menu, but overall 10 out of 10
Lovely pub/restaurant/hotel. Been going there for a good number of years for both business and pleasure because of it's friendly atmosphere and good quality food
Absolutely blown away by the food, a taste sensation with every bit. Really reasonably priced too
Food was good, nice atmosphere. Service was a little slow - Thursday night but otherwise it was good.
We’ve been before, three times, this was our fourth.
The restaurant seemed fairly empty and there did appear to be quite a few waiting/serving staff. However we waited almost an HOUR between our starters being returned and our mains brought out. We enquired what had happened to our food and the waitress who reported back (brunette haired), was sarcastic, un-sympathetic and almost rude. The next waitress (blonde haired) was more apologetic and displayed a customer service level, exceedingly lacking in the first waitress.
What was going on in the kitchen??? No-one knows, but it needs sorting....
Would we return??? I doubt it...
Having read the menu online, which is what led us to book a table, we were very disappointed that the menu was completely different. The changes to a menu for a Sunday should have been stipulated on the website.
Was then disappointed even further when 2 out of the 3 roasts were unavailable........at 6.45pm, leaving us with even less choice. Thank goodness we hadn’t booked a table at 8pm.....would there have been anything left?
The food that came was very good, as was the service and the venue itself is very nice.
Use for Sunday lunch regularly, our meal on Sunday was let down by poor quality vegetables, over/under cooked and burnt fatty roast potatoes.
No action taken by waitress other than 'we will tell the Kitchen' !
I really enjoyed our meal here. It's twinned with The Lewinnick Lodge, I believe, and while it doesn't share that other venue's amazing view it makes up for it with much better acoustics, where we were sitting at least. The food was first class and I enjoyed each course. My pint of Tribute was perfect and they had a wide range of gin to meet our daughter's taste. They could dump the TVs though. There was one over our table which was thankfully turned off, but F1 was on another and much as I don't go out to have a TV meal my eyes kept getting drawn to it against my will!
Great meal, great friendly service. Definitely be more visits in the future.
The Plume of Feathers never disappoints. We went this time with family who were visiting from the Midlands. They were SO impressed, we all had a lovely meal in great surroundings. They have already asked if we can go again next time they come..... Thank you to all at the Plume.
Lovely service and lovely food! Wish it was my local pub
Slow service, food was cold when it came out. Took ages for our plates to be cleared and waited a long time between courses. I do appreciate that it was very busy though, but perhaps not enough waiting staff to keep on top of what was going on with tables?
Food was cold when it was served. Had mussels. Waited ages for it already and didn’t see a waitress for ages so didn’t send it back.
We had a delicious dinner here after a day out with friends, could not fault it
Good food served by very friendly staff who welcomed our child & dog greatly. Extra mention to Gavin for his friendliness & knowledge of area for trips out.
Disappointed that lady in next table prepared her dogs meal ON the table! Then had the audacity to complain about her meal.... obviously didn't know lamb was a fattier meat despite discussing with very patient waitress when ordering.
Our visit overall was very good & hoping to get in tonight before going home. Thanks
Good all round experience with nice food.
We have eaten here a few times before.
This time the food,as before, was fantastic, but was very disappointed with the service. The waitress that served us didn’t seem very interested in our needs. When I went to the till to pay. I said keep the change, which wasn’t very much, but also left an extra £2.50 and there wasn’t any thanks for this gesture.
Never had a bad meal or experience at the Plume. A lovely pub with great food.
Highly recommend. The setting is ecceptional and the food is very good.
Although the amenities and service were both very good I found the food lacking in taste. The presentation was good but my pork fillet was quite tasteless and so very disappointing.
Very disappointed with latest visit. Normally one of our favourite restaurants. Maybe it was a holiday chef. The chips are usually the best chips ever - completely changed to chunky oily skin on soggy chips. Fish was covered in garlic pesto. Service slow. After 20 mins of finishing meal and plates still not being cleared we called the waitress over to pay the bill. Got offered desserts as we were paying.
Good food as usual, lovely atmosphere, easy to park and a place I would recommend for any dining occassion.
Great as always
Friendly staff who were patient with the kids. Really good food and a lovely atmosphere.
Pleasant menu and ok but not-very-enthusiastic staff with the exception of the vaguely hostile looking lady on reception who clearly very less than happy in her job. Food was desperately slow coming, and I write as someone who happily spends 3hrs over lunch. My wide had a 'Greek Salad' which had no cucumber, no green (or any other colour) pepper, no lettuce, but did have sun-dried tomato and an overbearing amount of dried herbs. Our four children (aged 20 thru 6) had a variety of dishes (Sea Bass, Mussels, Lamb Chops, kids fish & mash). Mash had a very sturdy cooked overcoat, I assume from being kept for an extensive time under a salamander. It was also caramelised having spent too long under heat and even offended the palate of my 6yr old daughter. Lamb chops (£17) numbered two and were both small and fatty. I had a whole Plaice which sadly had been annihilated by the chef and had the texture of cotton wool. By the time we'd been served mains we'd run out of time for dessert, though given what had already been served, that may have been a blessing. Total bill was £177. We've eaten twice as well for not much over half the price. There was a moment of amusement though as we walked to the car park, to see what appeared to be a moving bonfire crossing it, gradually resolve into the shape of the chef giving his vape some serious stick.
Great food, excellent service, good gluten free menu, and knowledgeable staff. Would recommend.
We had a lovely meal. The food was fresh and the menu tempting. Highly recommended.
