The Plume of Feathers
disappointing ! we went on the recommendation of friends, but found the menu very " standard pub grub " and the specials were fairly unspectacular.
service was acceptable, but my partner had to physically leave the table and seek someone to get the bill, which just is not on !
not good value, we will not be returning.
Excellent food and service , just seemed a little understaffed . Didn’t ruin the evening though. Food was great!
Booked at 17:45 on new year's eve for a table for two for 21:00 perfect can't fault open table
Unfortunately quite a disappointing visit. Waitress was disinterested and quite rude. Slammed a bottle of red wine down on the table without speaking or opening it. When asked about the megrim sole, replied ‘I think it’s fish’ and walked away. Very unfriendly indeed. 3 of us had the lamb shank and it was very dry and a couple of us had the chocolate orange fondant dessert was also very dried out, definitely not a fondant. Starters were lovely and other dishes were nice. It was a family night out for New Year and the company was great but on the whole the dining experience was sadly a bit of a disappointment.
We live locally and the Plume was disappointing and expensive when we visited in the summer compared to other times - the waitress could not even raise a smile and food was disappointing for what it cost - we had not been back since. We went for lunch on 28th December as our friends chose the venue - we asked for a table in the bar rather than the conservatory and that was available. It was very enjoyable, all the staff were welcoming although they were busy and the food really good
Disappointed, food was very average considering the price. Service was lacking, and all waiters / waitresses seemed to be young and inexperienced, no ‘senior’ staff seemed to be present. Won’t be visiting again in a rush.
Really disappointed with the mussels and fries, had them previously and they were delicious but this time there wasn't much flavour in the sauce and a lot of them weren't cooked very well. The chips were so salty as well. Scallop starter was delicious though. A shame for Christmas Eve, maybe the good chef was off?
A very comfortable and friendly venue. Modern quality decor. Food and service always good. Excellent toilets although no mirror in the ladies!!
We return regularly and are never disappointed.
Terrible service even with only 1 other table occupied. Initially walked in with no one to greet and seat us. Then waited 15 mins to be asked about a drink.
Food wasn’t too bad but not exactly to write home about. Literally no ambiance or atmosphere.
An excellent venue to meet our friends. A good menu spoilt by several items not being available, notably sirloin steak and salmon.
2 chicken mains were lukewarm
Cancelled 2 puddings after waiting more than half hour
Service was very slow, noise level was high, we had to ask for the horseradish, mint sauce and cranberry that was also slow coming out. The only thing that fast was the bill.
Nice but not exceptional, pub food made to look better than it is & overpriced. Attentive friendly staff but it was very quiet as we were early.
I only gave three stars for service as it was so busy that we had to get our own dessert menu and remind the staff that we had ordered drinks 10/15 minutes previously. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful - perhaps just one more member of staff on duty would have remedied this.
Our third Friday to The Plume simply because my wife loves the Fish Selection main course! Not being a fish lover myself I have a reasonable and not too overwhelming choice of non fish course. Very busy with Christmas Party bookings so definitely advisable to book.
Always good value. food very good and service standards are high and we look forward to our next visit.
Great Sunday lunch. Would probably opt for the crumble rather than strudel next time, as it wasn’t as expected.
This is a must to visit and dine, the staff are fantastic and very helpful, the service excellent, I could not fault the experience.
Really enjoyed everything about my experience here except for the first 5 minutes as I stood at the bar without being acknowledged, I felt a little embarrassed. That was soon forgotten as the food was superb, our waitress attentive and very sweet and the atmosphere was great. If we had been greeted by the bar staff I would have given 5 Stars to this wonderful warm and atmospheric place.
The food was great one of group said best steak n kidney pie ever had. Pub was busy but not too loud , service was good given was very busy. Nice country pub with great menu and good selection of beers hd wine. Would heavily recommend 5*.
First visit in many years! Really good food and great value! Will definitely go back.
We had Sunday lunch here which was really lovely, choices of meat and plenty on your plates. We were very impressed we our first visit to The Plume of Feathers and will be returning.
Excellent food , great service , nice toilets , well worth a visit
Food was cooked superb and was great value. From booking online to bringing the bill, the experience was exceptional
Great food but quite a few items in the menu had run out - probably because it was a Sunday evening. Otherwise, service was friendly and attentive. Nice surroundings.
Just all round really good food was amazing and really friendly place
Much quieter on a Saturday night than last time we visited but still a good atmosphere and great service. Red onion and goats cheese starter was fantastic as was the chocolate platter.
Another outstanding meal and service. Would highly recommend.
Excellent Sunday lunch, good service and reasonably priced. The nut roast was very good, one of the best we’ve had.
Always very good food and attentive service.
It is not enough to put me off going but the price point is slightly high with a little bit of style over substance going on, unnecessary.
Great meal as always. Excellent choice of lunches, good service and lovely atmosphere.
Excellent. Great location, service and menu. Will definitely visit again. 5 ⭐️
Fabulous food and friendly staff..highly recommend
Good food and staff, would recommend and definitely visit again.
Excellent good quality food in old world pub with modern annex. We were staying locally and chose to eat there most evenings.
Good value for money, rather quiet, menu could do with update
I recall when the place had been first converted from a basic pub - the owners have done a fantastic job to provide good, wholesome food at fair prices for this area.
All very good, but why serve a pannacota on a hot dish!
WRONG TIME BOOKED BY STAFF, WRONG MEALS BROUGHT TO TABLE, CHARGED A DRINK WE DIDN'T HAVE. TABLES NEED REFURBISHING PEELED TOPS AND NOISY. THE FOOD WAS GOOD WHEN WE GOT IT JUST LIKED IT IS AT LEWINNICK LODGE BUT A VERY DIFFERENT DINING EXPERIENCE WHICH IS SHAME AS IT WAS OUR 45TH WEDDING.
A very pleasant Sunday evening meal assisted with a very nice reisling.
