Outstanding evening, arrived for 8pm reservation, live music was not loud and added to the evening. Food was exceptional having had the Feast which feeds two and allows you to try everything. Whether dinner for two or a group book ahead and you will not be disappointed.

Ambiance was very nice and romantic. Food was ok, we had the risotto and the scallops pasta for which the creamy sauce and the garlic butter was overpowering. Only the scallop appetizer with smoked salmon was worth it. Service was ok. Would not go out of my way to go back since it’s kind of costly, but overall the decor and ambiance made up for it.

We were a little shocked when we showed up for our 5pm reservation 10 minutes early and were told to leave instead of being offered a seat at the bar, the bar tender was there, people were standing around. When we came back after a short walk, she said we didn’t have a reservation even when we showed her the confirmation on the phone. Even after showing her she argued with us that we wouldn’t get a table…. She gave us a table, it was a terrible location when we questioned her she said “well this is your table “ pretty much take it or leave it. Our server was good but they have the wrong person at the door for customer service. As the hostess she sets the tone and could have ruined our evening.

Beautiful space with excellent seafood meal. Service was good. The wine list was unremarkable as were the cocktails. We had an enjoyable evening and would return for the fresh and well prepared seafood.

We loved it. They created drinks for us, the food was superb (seriously deliscious), and the “deconstructed” dessert actually came deconstructed. Interesting and deliscious. What else is there, really? And, it was a cool looking place and we wanted to take server w us (he was that good). Anyway, 5 stars easy. We heard it was good but one never knows. It was.

On vacation and friends had recommended this place. Definitely worth it. Service was spectacular and food was delicious!! Had a lovely little private area to ourselves. Absolutely fabulous.

The food was ordinary. The ambiance was bad, a person showed up 3 times to get a table without a reservation and manager didn't come help the poor girl at the door to help her with the disturbance. The waitress was disorganized.

We had such a lovely night at the Press Gang. Food was delicious, service was impeccable, the ambiance was great. We also had the most wonderful steward who made sure every detail was perfect. We have been here before and will be back again :) Highly recommend to anyone who loves a romantic night out.

The food was outstanding and our waiter, although new, did a good job, but the noise coming from upstairs and the noise from the toddler at the next table will make us hesitate to return. I’m sure the owners can’t do a lot to influence the disco thumping through the ceiling (although I hope they’re trying to), but they can choose not to admit toddlers after a certain hour. It ruined our otherwise good experience. When considering where to next go for a meal that we’ll (happily) spend hundreds on, I can’t say I’d recommend the Press Gang because if this.

My wife and I dined here in July 2022 and were really impressed. We had oysters, the seafood chowder, the seafood risotto, and peanut butter cake. All of the food was superbly done. Our server Rich was helpful, attentive, and pleasant. All in all, a great experience. Highly recommended.

Absolutely phenomenal meal The table of 4 went with “ The Drill “ and couldn’t have been happier with the outcome. Then around a hour before leaving a musician arrived who was very talented on the acoustic guitar. A memorable night for sure , Always a go to when in Halifax Thanks Press Gang , see ya next time

Fabulous dining experience. The waitstaff were wonderful the food was wonderful. A smaller selection of oysters than we were hoping for but we got there late on the Thursday evening around 9:00pm. Cocktails service food all excellent Will absolutely return. Laura was our server and she was amazing. Didn’t rush us out and even allowed us to add 3 to our table later in the evening for drinks and dessert. The deconstructed lemon meringue pie was to die for

Wonderful food, service, ambiance. It was a special occasion. Ten years ago we were there and were blown away by the Drill. We are in Ottawa and planned our trip around getting a reservation there. We can no longer do a Drill, but were ready for oysters and expertly prepared food, cocktails and a great choice for wine. Planning our next trip sooner than 10 years. Note that we can’t say enough about the staff ensuring that a backpack we left behind was kept safe so we could get it before we left for Ottawa the next morning. Panic averted thanks to them.

Lovely place I'd been wanting to go for a while. Server was lovely, cool authentic ambience, good food (a little overpriced compared to what I've experienced in Halifax) but the noise level was a killer. Loud sound track playing on top of large groups talking loudly made it hard to hear my dinner partner.

We had the desire to try this unique atmosphere and we were so happy we did from the time we walked in and we were welcomed by Eddie our server and he made both feel relaxed and set the tone of a fun dining experience. The food was incredible and the service was impeccable and we both walked away thinking how much we enjoyed our dining experience. Thanks for making this happen!!
