The Rainbow Room by Massimo Capra Ratings und Bewertungen
The view was amazing, but the appetizer wasn’t that great
Food presentation was great. Did ordered two Caesar salad, but they brought us kind of garden salad with overpowering vinegar.
Also one of the dishes came with mashed potato instead of risotto. They brought risotto in 15 min after while the dish was cold, with just a “Sorry about that”.
Sorry, not a high scale restaurant as advertise themselves.
View is nice, just make sure to ask for a table on the windows and visit summer time when windows are not foggy.
We were in The Falls and wanted to try a different restaurant than we'd been to before. Our friends had recently been to The Rainbow Room so we thought we'd give it a try.
First off, the service. Our waiter Christopher was top notch. Very attentive without intruding. Very friendly and knowledgeable. He should get a raise!
Second the food. I opted for the line caught halibut and it was delicious. My fingerling potatoes were not as crispy as the menu suggested, perhaps even a bit underdone, but the overall plate was excellent. My girlfriend had the fettuccine bolognese. Excellent portion size and very tasty. Cooked to perfection.
Lastly the atmosphere. We had a late seating at 8:30pm on New Years Day. There were a few people in the place but it was mostly empty. In fact we were the last to leave. I expect it is much busier on a normal business day. That said it was cozy and the view is fantastic by the windows. Also good music in the background.
You put us in a function room...we understand you cannot accommodate our window seat request in the dining area but we would have at least been given the option to be seated in the main dining area. It took away from the experience of being at the restaurant, which plays a part in enjoying the meal.
Also, I was given the soup without a spoon. I drank it anyway while it was hot because I did not want to wait for another one. In both entrees the peas were undercooked and the mashed potatoes cold.
Food selection was so limited and price was $59 no matter whay
Went as a family of 4, my wife, 2 boys (ages 10 and 13) and myself.
Food was fantastic. Portions were deceivingly bigger than they appear. From the Beef Tenderloin to the Rack of Lamb and Line Caught Wild Halibut, everything was prepared, presented, and tasted amazingly.
The ambiance was disappointing. For a fine dining restaurant, we were seated very close to two other tables, which were both very loud and boisterous. We were seated close enough to both tables, one on either side of us, that we could have joined both conversations with ease. Our seats were also opposite the kitchen entrance and had wait staff walking past all evening. There were many tables open away from this area and it felt to us as though they seated tables in clumps to make it easier on the wait staff which detracts from the dining experience.
All in all, the food and general service was above expectations. The seating was lacking, and detracted from our overall experience.
They’ve had a wide range of kids menu (pasta, pizza, burger, hot dog, chicken fingers) with good portions. Tasting menu was amazing way of sampling all that Massimo Capra has to offer at a great price. Great view and even better staff :)
Surprised that Massimo would have his name associated with this restaurant.
Beautiful view, but tasteless risotto, over cooked steak, and forgettable pasta at a high price point left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
Several appetizers were served cold. No effort to make mends to our table of 8. $600+ bill - food should be hot for the prices charged.
Risotto and arranchini were the most delicious options we tried. The view is very nice.
The food was fine, a little on the bland side. The view is nice of the Falls to eat dinner.
A wonderful experience during the holidays to save all the stress of cooking at home Christmas day. The food was delicious and the view spectacular. We were running late but we were not rushed at all. My daughter and her friend live in Toronto and do a great deal of traveling and they have eaten in very trendy restaurants and they thoroughly enjoyed everything about the meal and service. This is our third time at Christmas and we will do it again. We were hoping for a full course Turkey diner but had the Cornish hens instead.
My husband and I had dinner here on Christmas Eve. The service was good and food was excellent. We had a window table with a view of the Falls.
Great restaurant with absolutely excellent service. Prices are great for the quality of food you are getting. My husband and I went for our anniversary and loved it!
Waitress was amazing. Food was delicious. The place looks a bit old but the food makes up for all of it.
The first two appetizers we ordered were out in minutes. Which (to me) means frozen and microwaved. From there, my opinion was skewed.
Kale chips was sautéed spinach. Mushroom crostinI was bland.
Cauliflower gnocchi was Exceptional! It's why I went; I'd go back just for that. Amazing.
View you can't beat. We had Lindsey, who was friendly & knowledgeable and patient.
Booking a table was easy fast. Great table amazing views,,,yummy food of course,,great waiter,,fast service,,,only complaint I asked for candle in dessert,,,was my sons bday ,,,and there wasn't one,,I requested when I booked the table online,,,I did notice another table got one for their celebrations,,,so mayb check the special requests,,more closely,,,,,I booked the table last minute too so I had hoped a special request would of been honoured,,,I not mentioned it because was to late once dessert was deliver.
This was our second dining opportunity at the Rainbow Room. We chose it to celebrate our daughter’s engagement. Our wait person Lindsay (sommelier in training) was wonderful with just the right amount of advice for our group of 6.
I was disappointed that despite reservations well ahead, and a special request for a window table, no effort was made to accommodate us. The regular seating arrangement along the window includes only 2 tables for 6 (these are allocated on a first come first served basis) and the rest are tables for 2. It would have been very easy to put 3 of them together and make a window seating for 6. This was the only disappointing aspect. Our food was delicious and our group thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance.
The food was really good and the Waiter was great. Nice views of both Niagara and the American falls and got a view of the fireworks over the falls. There was a rather loud obnoxious group of people on a nearby table which wasn't great but no fault of the restaurants. Would definitely recommend and eat here again.
The staff were very nice and our server was great! However, the food was average. We got the prosciutto and pear which was really good but the steak was horrible. I'm not sure if it was the cut of the meat that was bad quality or that it was way overcooked but it was dry and hard to chew, I almost choked on a small piece. The dessert was quite nice, we got the banana lava cake but there was so molting chocolate; it still tasted good though.
We came here recently and it was dark and rainy so the view wasn't great, I would recommend this place during the day if you want to see the falls and take photos. Also, if you're a foodie bring a light cause it is very dim, which is great for a romantic atmosphere, but it's hard to get a good food photo.
The food and service was excellent. I thought it was going to be really upscale, so planning attire was an issue before leaving home. But we gambled and went casual, no tie and jacket required. The view of the falls from the table made for an excellent evening. Cocktails were just okay, I’d stay with wine if that’s your thing.
The restaurant is pricy. You get beautiful views and wonderful service for the price.
Nice view of the falls. Not busy at all. Tired decor. Caesar salad had way too much vinegar in the dressing and no cheese at all. Cocktails were tasty but definitely light on the alcohol. Some tables got bread, but we did not. Eggplant was good. Service was slow. Expensive overall. We would not go back.
The service was terrible, salads were overpriced and we were not treated well.
First and foremost, the staff was amazing so this review is strictly based on the food quality/price itself.
For an "upscale" restaurant, the food options and quality was quite lacking. Plating seems more about tricking you to eating something of quality rather than actually providing it to you. Lamb was extremely dry and the teaspoon of sauce they gave you did not help cover that up. Wife's meal was equally below what you'd expect. Asparagus had Swiss cheese melted on it that looked like it was warmed in a microwave with a Kraft Single put on it.
You obviously pay for a view here, but the fact that the falls are pretty far away and the glaring lights of the adjacent Ferris Wheel really blinds out the ambience for you, it is rather a waste of money to be honest. Don't know if there are better restaurants for views in the area, but the quality of food definitely wasn't worth what you pay and I'd rather have a good meal and then walk to the falls to see them at night afterwards.
Good service with excellent views , high end food and of course with these qualities you must open your wallet.
The food was excellent, the waiter was obviously well trained and knowledgeable about every aspect of our meal and the wines that went with each course. Seriously one of the best meals I've enjoyed and the view was spectacular.
Food was excellent, as well as the portion size. Very nice view of the falls.
The food was absolutely delicious and well priced for what you get. The server was a little bit holier-than-thou, and some menu items were either out of stock or unavailable due to broken kitchen equipment, which was definitely disappointing. The windows also reflected a lot of glare, but the view was spectacular. I would definitely recommend this for a date night.
Our overall experience was great! The service and food was amazing! Will definitely be coming back again
Excellent service and ambience, exquisite meal, highly recommend
The view was great, the food wasn't. I could do better.
We had a wonderful time at the rainbow room and the service was excellent and the food was very good. However, halfway through dinner a large group of loud obnoxious people were seated nearby which really ruined the ambiance and noise level in the restaurant, given the restaurant was mostly empty I feel that they could have seated the group in another section.
Great view of the Falls’ illuminated in the evening. Food nice, varied menu, attentive staff
The restaurant is very basic, we felt we were rushed out and the waitress was rude. Avoid if you can.
We really enjoyed this restaurant. We have chosen several other spots in Niagara Falls for various special occasions but this one is the only one that met our expectations. We had a great view of the falls . We chose the price fixed menu 3 courses . For the first course we split the pear salad and the lasagne speciality that was to die for. The tomato sauce on it was excellent. We were happy we had a little of each to start our meal. The mains were very good as well with the steaks cooked to our request. We again chose two different desserts and shared. Both offset each other nicely---the very rich decadent peanut butter choc something and the lemon cheescake. This was not a cheap meal by any means but we felt it was worth every penny. Service was very attentive and friendly. Too bad you have to go through a very dated lobby of the Crowne hotel to get to the restaurant . Don't be turned off by that. The only other thing that bothered us on entering on the 12th floor is a musty smell. They should do something about it as it is not a good first impression. Of course within a few minutes it recedes. Also I would have liked linen table cloths for a restaurant of this quality and price range.
Server was very attentive and patient with our special dietary restrictions. Pear and prosciutto appetizer was full of amazing flavor and one of my favourite dishes we had.
the waitress was very good as was the view.... beyond that the meal was overpriced and not very different from other meals that i have had in my 47 years.
my halibut was over cooked. my daughter had the fettuccini and it was nothing special and the sauce was too heavy and pastey, while my wife had salmon which was also very ordinary.
coming from montreal and being italian we were very disappointed.
Loved our meal. My wife did the 3 course and I did the 4 course price fix menu option! (I could have done the 3, but the Gnocchi was fabulous. My wife had the Lasagna for her appetizer and Pasta for her entree. I had the scallops (pic attached) for my entree! Great view, service and meal! Glad we went!
My parents and 9 year old are here, we tried it because the menu looked good and it has a view. It was excellent—the atmosphere is nice, great Falls views, food was excellent, good wine choices. Our parking was validated so we didn’t pay to park in the garage. We had lamb, scallops, gnocchi, arancheti, fried broccoli—everything was delicious and fresh.
Spectacular! Absolutely worth every penny - our plates were perfection, portion sizes very generous and the service was perfect (attentive and genuine but not intrusive). The beef carpaccio was worth the drive alone.
